Don't know where to start. This is a 1988 Jeep Wrangler totally restored with a Chevy 350 4 bolt main motor four and a half years ago. This Jeep has been rebuilt from the frame up and only has 493 miles on it in 4 and a half years. The only thing that was not taken off was the steering box. This Jeep has NEVER been off road since being rebuilt. The motor was built by myself at a local performance shop. Everything but the 350 4 bolt main block is new. The wire harness is a brand new Painless harness. Runs awesome. Little cold blooded at first but comes right out of it in a minute or two.

Here we go, the majority of the parts and advice were provided by 4 Wheel Drive Hardware.The 5 speed transmission and transfer case came from a late model 6 cylinder Jeep from California with 23,000 miles on them and have all new linkages and levers as well as mounts. The motor again is a 350 Chevy 4 bolt main, aluminum intake, Demon 4 barrel carb, serpentine single belt system with new alternator, water pump and power steering pump with new motor mounts. Hedman coated headers and stainless valve covers with K&N air cleaner and breathers. Dual stainless steel exhaust front to back custom installed. New flywheel, clutch and pressure plate. Adjustable fuel regulator with gauge, braided fuel line and throttle cable. Oversized aluminum dual core radiator with an electric fan and billet aluminum coolant recovery tank. The front differential is stock with chrome moly axels. The rear differential is a Ford 8.8 with a Super 88 Axle Kit with a Detroit set of gears and c-clip eliminator system. The drive shafts are heavy duty professionally custom made shafts made from Spicer parts. Gel Cell Optima battery. All brand new brake components, stainless brake lines, calipers, rotors, pads, backing plates, e-brake cables, power booster and master cylinder. All new tie rod ends, tie rods and new pitman arm. YJ 4.5 Extreme-Duty Offroad Kit with heavy duty leaf springs, shackles, pearches, u-bolts  and Rubicon Monotube Shocks. Detachable sway bar and new body mounts. Dick Cepek tires, Radial F-C 2, LT305/170R16 with Dick Cepek Wheels. Warn Rockcrawler bumpers with winch mount and grill protector (not shown) and stainless D-Rings. Sure Step side bars. New steering shaft, bearings and GT steering wheel. All new door, tailgate and windshield hinges. New mirrors and mounts with Safari Doors. Tub underbody professionally undercoated in black and the tub interior is undercoated with the same tint as the jeep exterior color. New lights all around, LED rear lights, new markers and high intensity headlights. New Pioneer stereo with AM/FM and CD with new speakers using factory installation, looks stock. All gauges are Auto Meter Pro- Comp Ultra-Lite white gauges. The oil pressure gage just now is acting up, when turning on the key switch the gages all go through their automatic cycle but then the oil pressure gage pins itself without the motor running. This is new since taking it out of storage. I can assure you the oil pressure is good and suspect the sending unit or gage is defective. The Jeep has Mastercraft interior bucket front seats with 4 point seat belts and lap belts for rear bench seat. New seat risers as well. After market center console. Over $35,000.00 in Receipts not counting time. I also failed to mention the Jeep has a Rugged Ridge Mega Short Slip Yoke Eliminator Kit and a new Centerforce clutch. The following link has a brief video of it running a few days ago and a good view of the whole Jeep. If clicking on it does not work try copying it and pasting it to your tool bar. Fiat Chrysler and the UAW reach tentative labor deal

Sat, Nov 30 2019

DETROIT — Fiat Chrysler Automobiles and the United Auto Workers (UAW) union on Saturday announced a tentative agreement for a four-year labor contract, a boost for the automaker as it works to merge with France's Groupe PSA. Italian-American Fiat Chrysler and PSA, the maker of Peugeot and Citroen, last month announced a planned $50 billion merger to create the world's fourth-largest automaker. The tentative agreement with Fiat Chrysler, which is subject to ratification by the union members, follows contracts that the UAW already concluded with Ford Motor Co and General Motors Co. The deal with GM followed a 40-day strike in the United States that virtually shuttered GM's North American operations and cost the automaker $3 billion. The UAW on Saturday said the contract with Fiat Chrysler included a commitment from FCA to invest $9 billion, creating 7,900 new jobs over the course of the four-year contract. Of the $9 billion, $4.5 billion was announced earlier this year, to be invested in five plants and creating 6,500 jobs. Detailed terms of the tentative agreement were not released, but they are expected to echo those under the new contracts with GM and Ford, as the UAW typically uses the first deal as a pattern for the others. "FCA has been a great American success story thanks to the hard work of our members," UAW acting President Rory Gamble said in a statement. "We have achieved substantial gains and job security provisions for the fastest growing auto company in the United States." Ratification is not a sure thing. Rank-and-file UAW members at FCA in 2015 rejected the first version of a contract. In addition, a lawsuit related to a federal corruption probe could also raise doubts among union members about the terms agreed. The federal corruption led GM to file a racketeering lawsuit against FCA, alleging that its rival bribed union officials over many years to corrupt the bargaining process and gain advantages, costing GM billions of dollars. FCA has brushed off the lawsuit as groundless. Under the UAW's deal with GM, the automaker agreed to invest $9 billion in the United States, including $7.7 billion directly in its plants, and to create or retain 9,000 UAW jobs. Ford's contract included commitments to invest more than $6 billion in its U.S. plants and to create or retain more than 8,500 UAW jobs. The deals with GM and Ford also created a pathway to full-time employment for temporary workers and left healthcare insurance coverage unchanged.

2014 Jeep Cherokee musters 22 MPG city, 31 highway

Thu, 05 Sep 2013

Production and media drive delays included, there has been no lack of press surrounding the 2014 Jeep Cherokee. With the most recent delay reportedly due to powertrain calibrations, we've been waiting to see how the Cherokee's fuel economy looks against the highly competitive compact CUV segment. Thanks to the EPA, we now know the fuel economy figures for the newest member of the Jeep family.
Arguably, the Cherokee has the most modern powertrain in its class with an updated base engine, all-new V6 and all-new nine-speed automatic transmission, but its fuel economy figures are simply on par for the segment. Still nothing to scoff at, though. According to fueleconomy.gov, front-wheel-drive Cherokee models with the base four-cylinder mill will top out the lineup with 22 miles per gallon in the city and 31 mpg on the highway; opting for four-wheel drive with this engine drops the figures to 21 city and 28 highway. Get even crazier with the option list, and the new 3.2-liter Pentastar V6 will get you 19 mpg city and 28 mpg highway in two-wheel-drive form or 19 city and 27 highway for 4WD.
If you're wondering how that stacks up among compact CUVs, head on over to Automobile Magazine for a full fuel economy breakdown for the segment. The controversially styled crossover hits dealers this month, and we'll be driving it in just a couple of weeks.

Build your own: 2017 Jeep Wrangler Willys Wheeler

Tue, May 30 2017

While still three weeks from the start of summer, it arrived in practical terms with the Memorial Day weekend. And while the country will have worked through its collective hangover (from too much food, drink and shopping) and gotten back to work, it's worth remembering what – automotively – got us here, preserving both democracy and personal freedoms. The CJ-inspired Jeep Wrangler got us here, and in its Willys Wheeler guise the spirit of America rolls on. As the many spy pics have shown, FCA's Jeep division is working hard to replace its current Wrangler within the next few months. With that, we say goodbye to 10 model years of Wrangling with the current model. And that decade has been a good one for Jeep. Despite the economic downturn between 2008 and 2010, Jeep and Jeep Wrangler sales have been consistent bright spots for FCA, along with – of course – Ram trucks and, uh, Ram trucks. With a new Wrangler around the bend, it's worth taking a look at the existing model. And knowing an all-new example is coming, what would be the reason – if shopping – to consider what's on dealer lots now? Despite the numerous areas of improvement the new model will deliver (in efficiency, refinement and safety) , there's something to be said for a vehicle 10 years into its production cycle. While this is wholly anecdotal, for every step forward a manufacturer makes with a new vehicle, the added tech and necessary complexity seem to mandate two steps back. In an Audi A4, tech would seem a good thing, while in a Wrangler, this Jeep enthusiast would see it as a mixed blessing. Almost 80 years into its evolution (the initial Jeep concept came together in the summer of 1940) little has changed in the Jeep's essential mission. A body-on-frame architecture transports a driver and up to three passengers over paved and unpaved surfaces with credible confidence and a modicum of security. Live axles front and rear enhance the Wrangler's off-road capability, but compromise its on-road behavior. And while a significantly wider track mitigates rollovers, the Wrangler is decades removed from "state-of-the-art" when discussing safety or handling. Currently there's but one engine available in the States, a 3.6 liter normally-aspirated V6 producing 285 horsepower at a you'll-rarely-get-there 6,400 rpm. Connected to either a six-speed manual or ($1,400) five-speed automatic, the engine moves the 4,000-pound (loaded) Wrangler with measured confidence.
