1986 Jeep Cj-7 Renegade Original Rare Rust Free Survivor Hard Top on 2040-cars
Roswell, Georgia, United States
Up for auction is my 1986 Jeep CJ-7 Renegade - Original, rust free survivor! Last year of the CJ-7!
Reserve is WELL BELOW the market on this CJ! I am listing TO SELL, not for my health! You're not wasting your time bidding on this listing! This CJ has the rarest interior color of all non special edition CJ7's - Garnet! I purchased this rare piece of automotive history in December of 2013 out of Amarillo Texas with 48k original miles. (After looking for it for 2 years) I had the Jeep extensively checked out by a local dealer, and per their recommendation, I had all differential fluids changed, rear brakes replaced (with brake seals), engine oil & transmission fluid replaced, coolant & coolant hoses were replaced, as well as having it tuned up. This is a 'no apologies' CJ! I have never noticed any leaks on the Jeep, and would have no issue driving it cross country. (And back) This CJ has the 258 inline 6 cylinder (4.2 liter) with the extremely high demand T-176 4 speed transmission backing it up, with an AMC 20 rear axel. The Jeep cranks easily, idles smooth, and drives perfect. The T-176 shifts great, with the throws tight and notchy, and the Power Steering make the Jeep effortless to control. The paint and decals appear to be completely original. The paint's clear coat is chipping on the hood, and the hood also has with 2 paint chips on it, with just the normal amount of wear and tear elsewhere. The cowl's paint is thinning - but not bad at all. (Please remember this is a survivor). The Renegade decals are bright, correct, and in nice condition for their age. As best as I can tell this Jeep was equipped from the factory with the hard doors, and a soft top. (It has the proper 'vent window dash pad' that only comes on a hard door CJ) The doors are still in good shape, and the windows operate smoothly. The soft top was swapped out long ago for what appears to be a YJ Hard top, and it is in very good condition. (No cracks in glass or fiberglass damage) The floor pans, windshield frame, cowl, and under the roll bar, are all solid as a rock. (Light surface oxidation under drivers feet) Please do not bid on this CJ if you're just planning on turning it into rock crawler, parting out the interior, or slathering the tub with cheap 'do it yourself' bed liner. This Jeep is the very last year of the most iconic vehicle in American history, and deserves a new owner that will treat it as such. Reserve is WELL BELOW market and I will assist you if you wish to ship this Jeep. $500.00 deposit via PayPal upon completion of this auction, with the remainder within 4 business days. Please let me know if you have any questions, or if you would like to view it in person. Happy bidding! On Aug-28-14 at 20:39:06 PDT, seller added the following information: One last thing... The engine bay is 100% stock, with the stock air cleaner, and emissions equipment still intact. |

Next Jeep Wrangler spotted with 8-speed and EcoDiesel
Tue, Jun 21 2016Although it may not look like it, there are big changes coming to the next-generation Wrangler. The 2018 model will use aluminum for weight savings, spawn a pickup version, and offer new engines. This latest set of spy images brings confirmation of two new powertrain items. The spy photos below show a Wrangler mule with the current interior and an eight-speed automatic shifter fitted in place of the old five-speed unit. (There's a comparison photo in the gallery.) The shifter design matches that of the refreshed Dodge Charger and Challenger; the final Jeep version is likely to differ, but this clearly indicates what kind of transmission is underneath. Chrysler builds eight-speed automatics from a ZF design and also uses some transmissions built by ZF. View 4 Photos While it's not visible in the photos, the unmistakable sound of a diesel was heard coming from this Jeep. The EcoDiesel V6 is expected to be available alongside a new turbocharged four-cylinder engine that is rumored to have the code name "Hurricane." The turbo four may completely replace the current gas V6 or be offered in addition. There's a good chance the eight-speed will also be paired with the Hurricane engine, since improved fuel economy is a goal for the new model across the board. We don't yet know whether a manual transmission will be offered again, but it's a pretty good bet for one of the gas engines since many diehard off-roaders prefer the ultimate control. 470,000 Jeep Liberty, Chrysler 200, and Dodge Avenger models recalled for restraint defect
Sat, Oct 14 2017Fiat Chrysler Automobiles said on Friday it is recalling 470,000 vehicles worldwide to replace a component that may inhibit deployment of the vehicles' active head restraints in the event of a crash. Around 414,000 of those vehicles were sold in the United States. Apparently, "a component common to the modules of certain vehicles may degrade after extensive vehicle use." The recall covers 2012 Jeep Liberty sport utility vehicles and 2012-13 Chrysler 200 and Dodge Avenger midsize cars. FCA says a warning light may alert owners to the problem. The Italian-American automaker said it is unaware of any injuries or accidents related to the recall. The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration opened an investigation into the issue in June. (Reporting by David Shepardson; Editing by Steve Orlofsky) Related Video:
Jeep Grand Cherokee, Dodge Durango to lose color options temporarily
Wed, 19 Nov 2014In the market for a Jeep Grand Cherokee or Dodge Durango? Well, if you fancy a more expressive color for your new SUV, you'd better get your order in, or plan on waiting until well into 2015.
The SUVs will be limited to just four monochromatic shades - black, white, silver and gray - until at least February, thanks to an upgrade to the paint shop at the two vehicles' Jefferson North factory. For the Grand Cherokee, that means it's losing more than half its color palette while the Durango is dropping two-thirds of its color catalog.
The loss of colors is inconvenient, but the upgrade will have a slightly bigger effect on the overall supply of SUVs, as Chrysler will need to end its relentless build pace at the factory for a three-week shutdown starting on December 22. The good news for fans of the SUVs is that once the work is completed, we should see a gradual expansion of the color palettes for both the Durango and Grand Cherokee, beyond even what's offered now.
