I have for sale my 1969 Jeepster Commando. This is a hard to find vehicle to begin with, and finding one with as little rust as this one and with this much work done to it is nearly impossible. It is at that awkward stage where it is not finished and not a project. You can get in this rig and go wherever you need to go. The engine runs great-no smoke, funny noises, smells, or any other unwanted distractions. It steers great down the road, has lots of power, and is really fun to drive. This jeepster has the Dauntless V-6, T-14 three speed transmission, Dana 20 transfer case, A Dana 44 rear and a swapped in 1979 Dana 30 front with disc brakes. The dash is uncut and it retains all of the original switches and gauges. It appears to have been painted once the same color as original, but no body work has been done while I have owned it. There is minor rust in the rear tailgate, but it is better than 90% of them I have seen. There is rust in the drivers side rocker, but the passenger side rocker is incredibly solid. There is minor rust in the windshield frame, and I have located a few of them in the $200 range but have not purchased one yet. All of the glass is good and appears to be original. The rear hatch opens as intended and stays up. I have keys for all of the locks. I have a variety of small parts to go with the Commando. All exterior lights work as intended. Wipers work on both speeds. Heater blower works on both speeds. The dash lights and fuel gauge are not currently working. No horn-its there but not hooked up. Rear axle has a locker or posi unit in it. I don't mean to over do the list, but here is what has been done so far.

Saginaw power steering conversion-this was not an option until 71 on these vehicles, and it eliminates the undesirable Ross steering. Carburetor has been rebuilt-still needs fine tuning as it has a small dead spot when you goose it at hiway speeds. New fuel pump. New drag link and tie rod ends, with drag link set up as high steer. New rear frame and shackle bushings and new rear boomerang shackles. New exhaust with a quiet turbo muffler. New Alternator. New battery and battery cables. New clutch cable. New wheels with fair 31" BFG all terrain tires. New brake pads, shoes, hoses, lines, and wheel cylinders. New u-joints. New 4" Hell Creek springs, shocks, and u-bolts. New custom built tube front and rear bumpers. Frame was sanded and cleaned and coated with POR15 to prevent rust. Duraback bedliner material was installed on the interior floor. There is no rust through in the floorboards as evident by a creeper inspection underneath. New Grant steering wheel. Front seats have been recovered in blue velour. Aftermarket roll bar installed. New seat belts throughout-4 total. New fuel tank, fuel tank hangers and fuel gauge sending unit-has not been hooked up. New H-4 headlights. Roof rack installed on top.  Lockout hubs installed.  New dimmer switch.  Cigarrette lighter plug installed under dash for gps or cell phone charging.  Oil changed about 200 miles ago.  New fuel filter.  I'm sure I'm forgetting some small stuff, but you get the picture.  I'm no body man, and bodywork and paint is all it is lacking.

We drive this Jeep wherever we want to go. I have a clear Missouri title in my name. Jeepster will be sold as-is where-is with no warranty expressed or implied as to suitability for any particular purpose. Having said that, you will look far and wide to find a better one. There is NOTHING better than a Jeepster with the top off for summer driving. Payment terms are simple. Cash is always good, checks are OK as long as you understand they must clear before the vehicle leaves my possession. We drove it over 100 miles this past Sunday, and I would not be afraid to drive it anywhere.  The speedo is off about 10 mph due to the larger tires, s0 45 is about 55 mph.  65 or 70 is no issue.  No trades will be discussed whatsoever.  Please do not waste my time or yours.

Jeep Grand Cherokee, BMW i8, Ford F-150 win 2015 Green Car Awards in DC [w/video]

Tue, Jan 27 2015

There were three shiny trophies handed out at the Washington Auto Show last week by Green Car Journal, and they went to three different examples of what "green" means in the automotive industry today. The Jeep Grand Cherokee EcoDiesel won the award for the 2015 Green SUV of the Year, the BMW i8 was named the 2015 Luxury Green Car of the Year and the Ford F-150 took the 2015 Green Car Technology Award honor. There is a case to be made that the aluminum body of the new Ford truck will make a bigger impact in the overall fuel usage in the US than almost any other vehicle, given the numbers of F-150s that Ford sells each year. The B20 biodiesel-capable Jeep gets up to 30 miles per gallon on the highway. And the i8 puts all sorts of new, fuel-saving technologies into an attractive package. Looking over the winners, and the list of finalists you can see in our photo gallery, and you can see that the definition of green is expanding every year. You can watch Green Car Journal editor Ron Cogan hand out the 2015 awards in the video below and we'll for sure be paying attention to what wins next year. 2015 Luxury Green Car of the Year, Green SUV of the Year and Green Car Technology Winners Announced WASHINGTON, Jan. 22, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Green Car Journal has named the Jeep Grand Cherokee EcoDiesel its 2015 Green SUV of the Year™ and the BMW i8 its 2015 Luxury Green Car of the Year™, with the aluminum-bodied Ford F-150 earning the magazine's 2015 Green Car Technology Award™. Winners were determined by a jury of Green Car Journal editors and automotive experts. The prestigious awards were announced in Washington, D.C. today at a Green Car Awards™ press conference held during the Washington Auto Show's Public Policy Day at the Washington Convention Center. "These are truly commendable vehicles representing the 'best-of-the-best' in so many ways," said Ron Cogan, editor and publisher of the Green Car Journal and CarsOfChange.com. "The auto industry's very early focus on small cars and efficiency-for-environment tradeoffs has evolved to now include a more dynamic field of 'greener' models in all vehicle classes. Those wanting greater efficiency or better environmental performance are no longer constrained by limited choices or vehicle types that fall outside their top purchase preferences.

2018 Jeep Wrangler owner’s manuals leaked, and they tell us much — but not all

Mon, Oct 16 2017

If you're looking for some light reading to start your week, we have a suggestion for you. The " Owner's Manual" and the " User Guide" for the 2018 Jeep Wrangler have leaked, and have been posted on the JL Wrangler Forums. They appear to be the real deal. There's a ton of information, and many pages to pore over, but here's a little bit of what we've gleaned so far. The documents (assuming they're not just some very elaborate and convincing hoax) confirm the power sliding top, which is not removable, though the rear quarter windows are. We're not seeing any mention of a power soft top, though. There are instructions on door removal, as well as folding down the windshield. The manuals also confirm a 4WD Auto mode that shifts power between the front and rear axles as needed. What we don't appear to have yet are complete specifications. The manuals mention the 2.0-liter and 3.6-liter engines, but not their output figures. The 2.0-liter recommends premium fuel, while the 3.6-liter only needs 87 octane. Towing capacity for the two-door models is 2,000 pounds, while the four-door versions are capable of 3,500 pounds. The manuals also provide a lot of images, if you're interested in seeing the nitty gritty details of the Wrangler's various functions. Take a look, and make sure to post any interesting findings in the comments section, below. Related Video:
