This has been my jeep for about 3 years and I hate to see her go. I just lost my job and had a baby this past year. So time to let someone else have fun with this jeep. It starts right up, drives straight, and accelerates like a monster truck. It doesnt overheat, no major leaks, doesnt burn oil ,water, or smoke. I only took it out maybe half a dozen times here on some light trails and its a blast. ive mostly took it around town for errands or the gym. Lots of work was put into this jeep and here is a list below of what I can tell you about it. I bought it mostly the way it is from a military guy who dumped major $$$ into it.
-1984 JEEP CJ7 4X4 -CLEAN WA TITLE REGISTERED TIL 8/2014 -5.9 LITER V8 AMC 360 ENGINE (which moves it along very quickly) -DANA 20 TRANSFER CASE with twin stick shifters -T-18 4 SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION -NEW CENTERFORCE performance pressure plate and CLUTCH SET -AFTERMARKET CV DRIVESHAFTS FRONT AND REAR -ANTI WRAP BAR FOR REAR AXLE TO PREVENT AXLE WRAP -LIFTED leaf SPRING OVER AXLE (soa) & body lift 6 in. -aftermarket explorer shocks -15x12 Mickey Thompson aluminum offroad wheels which look awesome wrapped in 35s tsl superswampers 30% tread life left with 2 used spares that will come with it (great for offroad) -dual steering stabilzers -stainless braided brake lines -dual flowmaster exhaust straight piping from headers (stock) -no cats, no smog needed in washington -holley 4 barrel carburetor -aluminum edelbrock intake manifold -aftermarket distributor and replaced gear -replaced radiator -replaced starter, fuel pump, timing chain set, alternator, -aftermarket fuel tank (gauge goes to empty when it hits 1/3 empty) -all lights turn signals , brakes headlights function correctly -No wiring issues -lined tub (there has been previous patch panels installed from what I can tell. Looks like the major rust is taken care of on the tub.) -I just had somebody wire wheel/scrape/strip the frame rails and epoxy paint it. No rot in the frame. -Custom roll cage tied into frame for extra protection -windshield frame has rust in right lower corner($150 part) -Paint is 6/10 previous owner rushed it and scratches from sanding before paint are visible in some spots and there is bubbling on the hood. It didnt bother me enough to repaint and looks good from a few feet away. there is a rust bubble by antenna and rear license plate. -it could use new shifter boots for the shifter and twin sticks(see pics) $50 on ebay. -Ramsey rep 8000 cable winch -jvc cd player with aux jack -2 6x9 jvc speakers -best top seats f&r (passenger seat left side needs mending to clean it up) No rips in seating area -best top doors and top (rear window canvas needs a half dollar sized hole patched) 4x4 light is on and i dont know why after the shop installed new clutch I think its a wire well I think I covered most of it. FCA CEO Mike Manley will take undefined new role after PSA merger
Wed, Dec 18 2019MILAN — Fiat Chrysler Chief Executive Mike Manley will remain with the new group set to result from a planned merger with French rival PSA-Peugeot, Chairman John Elkann said on Wednesday. In a letter to Fiat Chrysler (FCA) employees on the day the two companies announced a binding agreement for a $50 billion tie-up to create the world's fourth-largest carmaker, Elkann said he was "delighted" that the combined group would be led by current PSA CEO Carlos Tavares. "And Mike Manley, who has led FCA with huge energy, commitment and success over the past year, will be there alongside him," he said. He did not say what position Manley would hold. Elkann — who will chair the new group — said there was still much to be done to complete the merger. "Over the coming months we must work tirelessly and determinedly to fulfill all the approval requirements needed to finalize the commitment we have signed," he said. 2019 Jeep Cherokee revealed with new, more conservative look
Tue, Dec 19 2017Just as it did with the new Wrangler, Jeep is showing off images of a new product before its debut. In this case it's the 2019 Jeep Cherokee. Jeep hasn't released all the details on it, but we can see a number of exterior changes from the official images. The biggest change is one we've been expecting: the merging of the current Cherokee's split headlights into single units on each side. The result is a more conventional nose that has a closer familial resemblance to other Jeeps such as the Compass and Grand Cherokee. The rest of the front bumper and grille also look a bit softer and rounder, but there's still a hint of the wedge-y pointy look of the previous generation that helps keep the crossover immediately identifiable as a Cherokee. The other major change is at the rear. The big slab of a rear hatch is broken up now with the license plate mounting position, which makes the tail look much less bulky. Naturally the bumper was also redesigned with a faux skid plate to fill up the space left by the license plate. As for the middle of the crossover and the interior, there are no noticeable changes. Jeep hasn't revealed anything other than these images, so we'll have to wait until the full debut in January to find out about any mechanical changes. Jeep's press release does hint at more efficient powertrain options, so there could be some updates to the transmissions or engines. Junkyard Gem: 1983 Jeep DJ-5L Mail Dispatcher
Wed, Jul 26 2017When it comes to putting mail in boxes, a simple and reliable vehicle works best. Say, a zero-frills steel box on wheels, with right-hand-drive, a fuel-efficient four-cylinder engine, no-hassle automatic transmission, sliding doors, and a big mail-sorting table instead of a passenger seat. That's what the AM General Mail Dispatcher DJ-5 was all about, and these bouncy little trucks were everywhere for decades. Here's a late-production example, still in USPS colors, spotted in a Denver-area self-service wrecking yard. Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stayed this courier from the swift completion of its appointed rounds. Note the "Sonic Eagle" USPS logos on the doors; this became the official USPS logo in 1993, nearly a decade after the final Jeep DJ-5s were built. Plenty of these trucks stayed in service into our current century, and a few are still being used by private mail-delivery contractors in rural areas. During the American Motors era of Jeep DJ production (1970 through 1984), a bewildering assortment of engines went into postal Jeeps. This is a 2.5-liter GM Iron Duke four-cylinder; before that, DJ-5s came with Audi power (more or less the same engine used in the Porsche 924, in fact), AMC straight-sixes, and Chevy Nova four-cylinders. The 1984 DJ-5Ms ran the AMC 2.5-liter four-cylinder. The earliest DJs were equipped with three-speed manual transmissions, but the American Motors-built postal-delivery versions all had automatic transmissions. This one has a three-speed Chrysler Torqueflite A904, a weird engine/transmission combination that should help you stump your friends during car-trivia debates. Check out the ultra-bare-bones heater/ventilation controls! These trucks were badged as AM Generals, not Jeeps (I couldn't find a single Jeep label anywhere on this one), just like the original HMMWV. However, you'd have to be a real hair-splitter to refer to this as an AM General DJ-5 instead of just Mail Jeep or Jeep DJ-5. Next time you complain about your subcompact rental car lacking driver-comfort features, consider this vehicle. I had a few high-school friends who owned DJ-5s, back in the early 1980s when they were available for a couple hundred bucks at government-surplus auctions. The first thing civilian DJ-5 owners always did was tear out the mail-sorting table and replace it with a random junkyard bucket seat (or an aluminum lawn chair). These trucks were very noisy, very bouncy, and very slow, but they always ran.
