Cj5 Jeep 1965 Willys Rock Crawler 350 Dana 60s on 2040-cars
Bluffton, South Carolina, United States
|
The title indicates this vehicle as a 1965, but the Buick
V6 that came with was only offered in 1966-1970, so the model is probably a
'66. The engine is new; the miles indicated on the odometer are for the engine
(currently 20 miles). This is a CJ5 purpose built for serious off-roading and
rock crawling. The vehicle has current registration in AZ and is insured, but
is not a street vehicle. The brake lights do work however. The Jeep starts and
runs great; the body is in bad condition. This is a trail rig not a show car.
There is a lot of body rust and damage, this way you won't feel bad if you
scrape it on a rock while climbing some boulders. All of the work has
been done at home not in a shop. I have spent over $18K building this rig and
untold hours of time. I have not driven it off road in over 5 years, so it is
time to let it go and at less than half of my investment. Engine: Chevy 350 crate motor 264 hp, 346 lbft. K&N tall air filter Holley Truck Avenger 670 carburetor Edelbrock Performer EPS aluminum intake Power Steering SBC Block Hugger Headers, ceramic coated Completely independent dual exhaust with

vehicle needs: Glovebox latch, it stays open. Fender trimming, the rear
tires will hit the fenders when flexed out.
A trailer is available for purchase if the buyer wishes.
It is a Carso 16’ utility/hauler with ramps stored under the deck. It has 18” high
rails, a treated wood deck, a ball hitch and a 7-round wire attachment for
lights and electric brakes. It is wide enough to fit a full size truck. The CJ5
just fits width wise (plenty for length). The trailer has current CA registration.
I will throw in the trailer for $500 if the buyer wishes. The trailer is not
available alone without purchase of the Jeep. |

2018 Jeep Wrangler Spied Looking More Aerodynamic | Autoblog Minute
Sat, May 7 2016This week we got an early look at the 2018 Jeep Wrangler. So what we see in these spy shots, or at least we think we see, is a vehicle that?s going to use more aluminum in a bid to reduce weight and thus improve fuel economy.
FCA design chief Ralph Gilles uses Jeep to help couple in fiery wreck
Mon, Feb 26 2018Fiat Chrysler's head of design Ralph Gilles recently rendered assistance at a fiery crash scene that left one dead. Gilles helped two people trapped inside a vehicle following a pair of collisions that left them pressed up against a burning vehicle. He used his Jeep Wrangler to nudge a Ford Edge engulfed in flames across the road. The 57-year-old female passenger who was trapped inside the other car was later pronounced dead at a local hospital. The first crash happened early Sunday, Feb. 18, in a rural area north of Detroit when a 2013 Ford Fiesta carrying the woman and her husband collided head-on with a 2013 Ford Edge that had crossed the center line. The driver of that vehicle sustained minor injuries; police said alcohol is believed to have played a role. Gilles was driving home with his wife, Doris, when they came upon the accident, stopped and called 911. He told the Oxford Leader he and the driver of the Edge tried to help the couple in the Fiesta, but none of the doors would open. After Gilles went to move his Wrangler out of the way, he saw a Buick LeSabre broadside the already-crippled Fiesta and push it up against the Edge, which then caught fire. With the couple still trapped inside the Fiesta, Gilles got the idea to put the Wrangler into four-wheel drive and push the Edge to the opposite shoulder using his Jeep. "The only thing I can remember thinking (is) I've got a Jeep, it's got a bumper on it, I think I can do this. All I could think about were the two people still inside the other car." Firefighters were later able to extract the couple from the Fiesta and transport them to a hospital. The woman was then airlifted to a second hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Her husband was listed in stable condition. Gilles posted a short video of the burning vehicle on Instagram and wrote that he was "NOT a hero." "It made us appreciate the true heroes. The first responders, Firemen/women, EMS and Police who deal with this stuff every day," he wrote. Image Credit: Ralph Gilles / Instagram Jeep fire
2018 Jeep Wrangler to get full-time four-wheel-drive option
Mon, Aug 7 2017It appears the next-generation Wrangler will take another small step to modernization and civility. JL Wrangler Forums reports that the new Wrangler is showing up on dealer computers along with a variety of options. One of them is the inclusion of a full-time four-wheel-drive system called Selec-Trac. This means that it will be possible to simply leave the Wrangler in four-wheel drive all the time, without worrying about damaging it when pavement is dry, much like the all-wheel-drive systems on most modern crossovers. This might concern Wrangler purists, but there are a couple of reasons not to fret. For one, although Jeep doesn't have a Selec-Trac system on the market to compare to right now, the old Selec-Trac system offered on the Jeep Liberty had a low-range for off-roading, so this one probably will, too. For another, only one kind of Wrangler will offer this feature, according to JL Wrangler Forums. The Selec-Trac system will only be available on the four-door Wrangler Unlimited Sahara, the version that's arguably the most luxurious, and the body-style with the longest wheelbase. All the others will only have the classic selectable four-wheel drive. There is another interesting feature noted in the JL Wrangler Forums collection of information. Apparently the four-cylinder engine will have a combination starter and generator driven by a belt. This is interesting, because the only other car we've seen with such a component is the new Audi A8. In that application, the belt-driven starter and generator is used for smoother, faster starting and stopping to save fuel. We would guess the Jeep's system works in a similar way, though likely without the support of a 48-volt electrical system. We will likely know more when the new Wrangler makes its debut, which is expected at the L.A. auto show this year.
