Today.. It pains me (literally) to offer this last year of a legend.. Jeep CJ7.... LAREDO!!  for you consideration.  I recently sold my classic Jeepster of 10+ years to buy this. 2 days after I bought it I learned I need to have another surgery.  I looked for a long time to find one this clean and in this color combination.  This one is incredibly rust free and has super low miles.. 57,000.   If you have been searching for a clean Laredo with low miles.. and priced to sell.. Here is the break you've been waiting for.  I see these going for giant $$ on here in this kind of condition.. and I paid real money, but I must price this to sell, not just for you to drool over. This is a 2 owner Jeep.  The original owner lived on a ranch and obviously treated it well.  The guy I bought it from owned it for about 3 years.. He had a new Ford Raptor truck, this was in the garage.. The new truck wasn't.   Please study the pictures carefully.  Understand that while I would definitely call it a cream puff.. It is not new.  It appears to be all original and in excellent condition.. but be realistic in your expectations, and understand that it is a 28 year old Jeep.  Ask any and all questions before bidding.  If possible, I encourage you to view it in person and can help accommodate you.  I can also take pictures of any part of the vehicle you want and text or email them to you.  Now onto some details.

Body and Paint:

It appears to be all original body panels and paint.  I see no evidence of any paint work or repair.  With the exception of the hood, which has faded, the paint looks incredible.  Still has lots of luster and is very pleasing to the eye.  Looking down the sides it is very straight.  It has very few door dings.  It does have a small dent on the forward side of each front fender.. very minor, and is visible in the pictures.  The rear of the vehicle is amazing.  Pretty close to new looking.  The interior floors have the original paint and it is still covering the metal very well.  The underside is just as pleasing.  There are light scraches in the paint from brush or trees that should polish out fine.. they may not show in the pictures and are not very noticeable in person.  The doors are in great shape, no cracks.  The top is in excellent shape too.  No rust on the bottom edge of the rear hatch... Doors open and close perfect.  Windows function perfect. It locks. No visible rust ANYWHERE!!

Interior:

I would say its in line with the exterior condition.. Original seat upholstery is perfect, original carpets are in such good shape its hard to believe.  So are the door panels, dash, console, gauges, and all of the weather stripping with the exception of the exterior door window rubber.  Wow!!!  Love that red/black contrast!!

Mechanically:

I didn't get a chance to drive it much.. about 20 miles.  It is the most impressive driving Jeep I have driven.  It is quiet, smooth.  It shifts through all 5 forward gears well and reverse. There are no obvious problems.. other than it seemed like it skated around a little bit.. I believe this is because it has 33x9.50 tires and the Jeep was likely never aligned after it was lifted..  The inside tread bar is noticeably worn.  I would recommend new tires and an alignment.  The tires are showing age too.  As mentioned, it was lifted at some point.  It appears to have been done well.  Has Bilstein shocks on all 4 corners.  Rides nice for a lifted Jeep.  Again, better than any ive driven... or ridden in.   The choke stays on till its up to temp, and thats a little annoying.  It hasn't leaked a drop my garage floor, but does appear that the valve cover gasket is leaking a little.  The previous owner supplied me with a new gasket.. and a new in the box Jeep valve cover.. I think its just a fancier one.  All electrics are working well with the exception of the tach.  I did spot a disconnected wire at the ignition coil, im thinking that might be the culprit.  It has a nice looking fuel tank, a hitch and a winch with the remote.  Just SWEET!

Summary:

A rare opportunity indeed.  The last year of a legendary vehicle in a great color and the top of line trim package.. Laredo!  A rust free survivor in excellent shape.  You won't be disappointed with this one.  It is priced to sell.. So bid now, watch for the reserve to be met.. Then bid to win!!  Ebay members with less than 5 feedback, please message me before bidding or I may choose to cancel your bid.. BE SERIOUS.. AND BE READY TO OWN THIS AMAZING CLASSIC CJ7 LAREDO.

Ram, Jeep redesigns on hold, Alfa Romeo models may come sooner

Wed, Jun 3 2015

Last summer, FCA outlined an ambitious five-year plan that sketched out the company's product intentions for each of its brands through the end of 2018. However, even the best strategies sometimes need tweaking. According to Reuters after speaking with unnamed people at auto suppliers, FCA is now possibly delaying at least a dozen projects in North America for a variety of reasons. From vehicle to vehicle, these postponements allegedly last anywhere from just a few months to over a year. The sources from the suppliers claim that in some cases these tweaks are for engineering and design changes. The next-gen Ram 1500 reportedly has among the shorter delays and is being pushed from mid-2017 to November 2017, according to Reuters. Also, the much-discussed future Jeep Wrangler is allegedly moving a little later to July 2017. Among the vehicles purportedly seeing longer delays, the next-gen Grand Cherokee could get pushed back about a year to 2018. That then forces the launch of the three-row, luxury Grand Wagoneer to be even further away. Jeep's upcoming C-segment CUV and the all-new Chrysler 300, Dodge Charger, and Challenger might also see postponements. The one brand allegedly seeing an accelerated plan is Alfa Romeo. Without going into detail, the sources from these suppliers claim that the Italian automaker is getting even more vehicles for its lineup and could get them even faster than planned. "Those plans need to be flexible and fluid, with the potential to add some vehicles, pull some forward and extend the life cycle of others," FCA said to Reuters about all of these allegations. "We look at these programs on a vehicle-by-vehicle basis." Investment in the auto industry has been a major topic for FCA CEO Sergio Marchionne as of late. He believes consolidation is necessary so that companies aren't burning money on the same projects. Chrysler recalling 644k more Dodge Durango and Jeep Grand Cherokee SUVs over brakes

Wed, 02 Apr 2014

Early last month, we reported on Chrysler issuing a preemptive, proactive recall for about 25,000 units of the Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango. The issue revolved around a brake system that wasn't causing any actual problems, but delivered an unsatisfactory brake feel, so Auburn Hills called in a good 25,000 of SUVs around the world, including 18,700 in the United States.
Now Chrysler, having apparently determined that the brake problem on its sport utes is actually much bigger than it initially realized, has drastically broadened the scope of the recall. As a result, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has issued a recall for precisely 655,354 examples of the Grand Cherokee and Durango, covering the 2011 through 2014 model years. In addition, Chrysler is recalling 42,380 units in Canada, 21,376 in Mexico and 159,685 overseas.
The problem which Chrysler found revolves around the brake booster, whose center shell has been found to be subject to corrosion, allowing water to get into the brake system. That water in turn could freeze, preventing the brakes from working as well as expected.

Fiat Chrysler dumped 40,000 unordered vehicles on dealers

Thu, Nov 14 2019

In a move that echoes recent history, Fiat Chrysler has been making more cars and trucks than dealers in the U.S. are willing to accept, with Bloomberg reporting that at one point the automaker had built up a glut of around 40,000 unordered vehicles. That’s led some dealers to accuse FCA of reviving the dreaded “sales bank” accounting practice of obscuring inventory to improve the balance sheet. The company reportedly began building up its inventory of unordered cars this summer despite an industrywide slowdown in sales and an eagerness by some dealers to thin their inventories because rising interest rates are making it more expensive to hold unsold cars. The inventory build-up also coincided with Fiat ChryslerÂ’s efforts to find a merger partner, first with Renault, which fell through, then last monthÂ’s announcement that it will merge with FranceÂ’s PSA Group. FCA denies any such scheme and tells Bloomberg the rising inventory is down to a new predictive analytics system designed to better square supply with demand from dealers that is helping the company save money and narrow the numbers of unsold vehicles. The company recently agreed to pay a $40 million civil penalty to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission to settle a complaint that it paid dealers to report fake sales figures over a span of five years. While no one is suggesting that FCA is in dire financial straits — the company saw higher than expected earnings in the third quarter and record profits in North America — the practice has strong historical precedent by Chrysler, which built up bloated inventories in the run-up to its two federal bailouts, in 1980 and 2009. It was also common at GM and Ford during the 2000s, when all three Detroit automakers struggled with excess manufacturing capacity and plummeting sales in the lead-up to the Great Recession. Back in 2012, CFO Magazine wrote about a report that explained automakersÂ’ rationale for the practice and how it works: Say fixed costs for a given factory are $100, and that the factory can make 50 cars. Consumers, however, demand only 10. Under absorption costing, if the company makes all 50 cars, its cost-per-car is $2. If it makes only up to demand, or 10 cars, the cost-per-car is $10. Although each car adds variable costs for steel and other parts, if those costs are low, the company still has an incentive to make more cars to keep the cost-per-car down.
