1985 Jeep Cj8 Cj-8 Scrambler Renegade Sl-r Sport on 2040-cars
Ambler, Pennsylvania, United States
Here is a beautiful 1985 Jeep CJ8 Scrambler Renegade SL-R Sport. A very rare vehicle with the factory working tachometer and clock. Full Laredo interior with Laredo door panels and seats (great condition with no rips or torn stitching). Tilt steering wheel. Power steering and brakes. Renegade decals on body and hood. Factory chrome Laredo wheels (nice shape) and factory chrome Laredo front grille cover. Hard top in excellent shape with no cracks. The very reliable Jeep T-5 transmission with 5-Speed. 4WD works as it should. Previous owner owned vehicle for over 10 years. I purchased from him in 2013 and decided to sell to buy a 4 seater Jeep. This Scrambler has the original engine with 113K miles and an upgraded Weber carburator for better starting, idling, and gas mileage. Runs beautifully and drives straight with no shakes. Interior has a Tuffy Lock Box but I do have the original black center console. No Radio, but is wired up for one. All knobs on the dash work and all lights and gauges work well. Even has the original cigarette lighter. In addition, I also have the original wood side bed rails. They need to be completely redone, but at least I have them. Bridgestone All-Terrain T/A tires. Original light under the hood which works (See Pic). After market rear bumper with towing hitch, but I do have the original chrome Laredo bumperettes. Original swing-away spare tire carrier with chrome wheel and newer spare. Driver seat has some give in the frame which allows it to slightly recline. As you can see from the pics, the paint is beautiful but it does have some flaws with some rust bubbles in a few different spots. I've tried to detail the issues with pictures as best I could. Also, being an East Coast Jeep, the frame has had some issues with rust but it has been seal coated with undercoating and any issues have not gotten worse in my ownership. The same holds true with the paint. Nothing has gotten worse in my ownership. It does not have current PA inspection. This is not a perfect Jeep but looks absolutely amazing and is a very rare vehicle, especially in this condition for the East Coast. All pictures were taken before I even cleaned the Jeep so all chrome and paint will shine even more than they do in the pics. I am selling AS-IS so please, if you have an interest in it, please contact me in person to come see it and check it over for yourself. I highly advise doing so. I also have more pics or can take more pics if you need them. 1985 is the last year for the Scrambler (A few were badged as 1986s) and some will consider it to be the best year as well. Thanks for looking, good luck, and Happy New Year. Lee 610-322-8702.

Buyers ditching expensive European sedans to buy expensive American trucks
Mon, Feb 19 2018The New York Times ended the automotive week with a story that adds numbers and context to a range of other stories, from the crossover craze to the increasing median price of a new car to ever more grandiose pickup trucks. The NYT piece reveals that the shift to larger vehicles isn't merely about the average U.S. buyer swapping the midsize sedan for a Ford Edge. Luxury buyers are migrating from plush sedans to plush SUVs and trucks that creep close to six-figure prices, and the Detroit Three are running Treasury presses because of it. From 2013 to 2017, the truck category — everything from pickups to minivans — climbed from 30 percent of the market to 41 percent. In January of this year, trucks claimed 66 percent of new vehicle sales. At the milk-and-honey end of profits, GMC alone accounted for 11.3 percent of all vehicle sales over $60,000, not just trucks. That puts the luxury truck maker behind Mercedes-Benz and Ford, The Blue Oval's feasting on Lariat, King Ranch and Raptor versions of the F-150, which make up more than half of that pickup's sales, putting it ahead of Chevrolet, Porsche and Lexus on the high-dollar sales list. The average transaction price of a GMC in Denali trim last year was $56,000; it's easy to see why, when one dealer told the NYT he just swapped a 2012 BMW 550i for a $71,000 GMC Sierra Denali. That truck starts at $52,900. The NYT started its story with a buyer who took home a Ford Raptor instead of an Audi A6, and optioned that $50,020 Ford Raptor close to $80,000. Over at Lincoln, the new $72,055 Navigator — the one so popular that Ford will increase production — crossed hands for an average sale price of $77,000 in January. And a Jeep dealer told the NYT that the two $93,000 Trackhawks he had on his lot "won't be here more than a few weeks." While trucks head up in sales volume and price, cars are headed so viciously in the opposite direction that "the Detroit Three and even some foreign manufacturers acknowledge they are now losing money on many of the cars they sell." So ... get ready for a lot more crossovers and trucks. Related Video: Find out what vehicle is right for you. Give our Car Finder tool a try.
Sunday Drive: Classic American nameplates and one exciting new German
Sun, Mar 25 2018Our look back at last week's biggest automotive stories focuses first on the Jeep Wagoneer, an unequivocal American classic. Not only did the Wagoneer play a pivotal role in kicking off America's current love affair with the sport utility vehicle, it legitimized the Jeep brand in the mind of consumers looking not just for something to ably take them off the beaten path, but to do so in comfort, with the entire family along for the ride. So it comes as little surprise that Jeep decided to take one vintage Wagoneer, modernize it with a 5.7-liter Hemi V8 engine, and put the thing on display as part of its annual Moab Easter Jeep Safari. We're in love. Our next two stories focus on Cadillac. First up is news that the striking Escala Concept is headed for production in 2021 to serve as the brand's flagship luxury sedan. The second story involves Caddy's current top rung, the CT6, which gets a new twin-turbo V8 engine as part of its V-Sport package. And finally, we round out this look at last week's headlines with the 2019 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe and Cabriolet. We're mighty keen to try out Benz's new AMG-fettered turbocharged inline-six engine, and the C Coupe looks like a fine point of entry. As always stay tuned to Autoblog this week for all the latest automotive news. Jeep Grand Cherokee redesign delayed
Sat, Jun 27 2015The launch of the next-gen Jeep Grand Cherokee is being now being pushed back until late 2018 or even into 2019, Jeep CEO Mike Manley indicated Friday, according to Automotive News citing a Reuters report. Under the original five-year plan, the SUV was supposed to be replaced in the third quarter of 2017. That would have made for a big year for Jeep with a refreshed Renegade and new Wrangler also slated for 2017. A delayed Grand Cherokee could send ripples through Jeep's product plans. The three-row Grand Wagoneer is meant to give the brand a vehicle to take on the Land Rover Range Rover, but it's supposed to use the same platform as the Grand Cherokee. This change is rumored to push that important model's launch further back. There's less uncertainty when it comes to the next-gen Wrangler. Manley said that the model was "broadly on track," according to Automotive News. The five-year plan aimed for a launch in the second quarter of 2017. Controversy, however, has swirled over possible plans to move the Wrangler from its longtime Toledo, OH, factory. One problem Jeep doesn't have to worry about right now is sales. According to Automotive News, Manley said volume was up 20 percent globally and could reach 1.2 million by the end of the year. He also indicated the brand was "on pace" to reach its 1.9-million-vehicle goal for 2018. The Grand Cherokee delay comes in the wake of rumors that FCA US is shuffling around its previous five-year vehicle launch plan to postpone several models. Related Video:
