I START LOOKING IN TO SEVERAL JEEP SPECIALITY SHOPS IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA AND AFTER LOOKING AND COMPARING EVERY ONES RESTORATION HISTORY AND QUALITY OF WORK I PICKED " CALIFORNIA JEEP RESTORATIONS " LOCATED IN SAN FERNANDO VALLY , THEY ARE ONE OF THE BEST QUALITY AND WORK MAN SHIP SHOP THAT I EVER WORKED WITH. I AM VERY PICKY AND METICULOUS WITH MY CAR COLLECTION AND THEIR WORK MET MY DETAILED BUILT SPECS. ONCE WE PLANNED THE RESTRO AND FACTORY SPECIFIED COLOR CODES AND CORRECT TRIM AND PACKAGE, FIRST OFF THE BODY CAME OFF THE FRAME AND WORK STARTED WITH A COMPLETE DA TO LOOK FOR ANY BODY FILLING AND PATCH WORK AND SURPRISING ENOUGH THERE WAS NOT A PATCH OF BODY FILL OR RUST ANYWHERE. ONCE THE BODY INSPECTION WAS COMPLETED THE WHOLE TRUCK IN AND OUT AND UNDER WAS SANDED DOWN AND PREPED FOR NEW PAINT, I CHOSE THE OFF WHITE FACTORY COLOR SCEEM TO REPLICATE THE LORAIDO PACKAGE. TO MAKE THIS RESTORATION EVEN MORE COLLECTABLE AND DESIRABLE I DECIDED TO USE ALL FACTORY ORIGINAL PARTS. THERE IS NO AFTER MARKET PART OR TRIM ON THIS TRUCK FROM EXTERIOR TO INTERIOR AND GAGES , TILT STEERING COLUM, EVEN THE RADIO AND FACTORY SPEAKERS , GRAB BAR, DASH PAD, DOOR PANELS, FACTORY LORAIDO SEATS, FACTORY A/C. Jeep and Ram diesel owners get $3,075 in lawsuit settlement
Tue, May 7 2019Owners of certain Ram 1500 and Jeep Grand Cherokees equipped with diesel engines will get up to $3,075 in compensation for repairs under a settlement of a class-action lawsuit against Fiat Chrysler over illegal emissions-cheating software. The roughly $800 million settlement was first announced in January and approved by a federal judge in California last week, according to Consumer Reports. The affected vehicles are 2014 to 2016 Ram 1500 pickup trucks and Jeep Grand Cherokee SUVs equipped with 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6 engines. FCA will update the emissions control software, provide an extended warranty covering up to 10 years or 120,000 miles, and provide cash compensation. Eligible owners will get as much as $3,075, while eligible lessees, former lease holders and former owners will get up to $990, and partial owners will get up to $2,460. FCA has established an EcoDiesel Settlement website where affected owners can find more information on how to submit and track a claim and sign up for updates. Customers with questions can also call 833-280-4748. Vehicle owners will have 21 months to submit a claim, with a deadline of Feb. 3, 2021, and two years to complete the repair and receive compensation for it. Former owners and lease holders must submit claims by Aug. 1, 2019. The EPA in early 2017 issued a notice of violation to FCA after Jeep and Ram installed eight emissions control devices on diesel vehicles. FCA's settlement includes $311 million in total civil penalties to U.S. and California regulators, up to $280 million to resolve claims from diesel owners, $105 million in extended warranties, $72.5 million in state civil penalties and $33.5 million in payments to California for excess emissions and to resolve consumer claims. Auto supplier Robert Bosch GmbH, which provided emissions control software, is paying $27.5 million to resolve claims, plus $103.5 million to settle claims with 47 states. The federal court also approved consent decrees between FCA, the EPA and the California Air Resources Board, plus agreements with all 50 stats and the U.S. Customs and Border Protection. In a statement, FCA said, "The settlements contain no findings of wrongdoing, nor admission of any wrongdoing, by FCA US" and added that the software fixes will have no affect on average fuel economy, performance or other characteristics of the vehicles.

And a large number of them will have an LS-series V8, commonly found in Corvettes and Camaros from the last 20 years (plus other GM vehicles in slightly different forms). Sometimes it doesn't take very long, as is the case with the 2018 Jeep Wrangler JL. The new Jeep has only been available for a couple of months, and already a company called Bruiser Conversions is offering to install LS engines under the hood. Though Bruiser Conversions doesn't yet list exactly what specifications the engine has, it offers the LS3 in both 450- and 500-horsepower versions on the previous Wrangler JK generation. The new V8 will be fitted to the factory 8-speed automatic transmission, and the company says that the transmission will function exactly as it does with the original V6 or turbo inline-4. In addition, Bruiser Conversions says all factory gauges, cruise control, hill descent control and other electronic aids will work like they did from the factory. Pricing is currently not listed for the conversion, but the company is taking pre-orders for both in-shop installations and do-it-yourself kits. Going off the conversion costs for an older JK Wrangler, it will probably cost between $20,000 and $30,000 to have Bruiser Conversions do the installation. In the case of the JK kits, they're about $5,000 less than having Bruiser Conversions do the work. 2019 Jeep Cherokee finally reveals its all-new nose
Thu, Dec 7 2017We've known for a while that the refreshed Jeep Cherokee was going under the knife in order to ditch its controversial face. While the crossover's looks have grown over time, it was still a little too weird and awkward for some buyers. Now, thanks to our trusty spy photographers, we have a really good look at the Cherokee's new mug. Surprise! It looks like every other product in Jeep's lineup. The current model has a split lighting setup that places the main headlights down low, almost below the grille. The turn signals/parking lights are way up high, nearly on top of the fender. This new model has those two meet in the middle. The shape is generally what you would find on both the new Compass and Jeep Grand Cherokee. It's handsome, even if it does lose a bit of character. The rear, too, has been changed. The license plate moves up and into the tailgate, giving it a more muscular, less flabby look. The smaller rear reflectors have been moved upward. The taillights look different, but it's hard to say if those are just temporary units. Either way, expect a new design that once again cribs from the 2017 Jeep Compass. Since this is a refresh, don't expect to wait too much longer until we see the new model's debut. We could see it as soon as the Detroit motor show next month. Expect current powertrains to carry over with a slight boost in fuel economy.
