1983 Jeep Scrambler Cj-8 Cj8 on 2040-cars
Chicago, Illinois, United States
Up for auction is my 1983 Jeep scrambler CJ-8. It has the original 4.2L 258 engine that has 149892 miles on it. It also has the T5 5 speed manual trans in it too. Vehicle runs and drives but it runs rough and needs a tune-up. I bought this jeep with the intention of making a custom jeep for myself. Due to some family related things I need to sell it. It will have a low reserve and I have the title in my hand ready to go. This jeep is being sold as is with no warranty expressed, implied or given. Jeep scramblers are rare and this one isn't perfect but it's a canvas for a jeepers imagination. The jeep includes the factory half hard top and the back window has no cracks in it. It also includes original jeep bimini top and half soft top (both are black in color). The half soft top has the hardware but one of the supports is bent. The previous owner replaced the windshield frame but forgot to put back on the channel on top for the soft tops. The windshield has 2 cracks in it. the wiper motor works but the wipers are not hooked up to the jeep. All the interior lights work along with all the gauges too. The headlight indicator above the headlight switch is the only one that doesnt work. The body has plenty of solid panels on it and plenty or areas that need attention too. The frame is rusty but it's solid and can be used in my opinion. The jeep has 3 new tires on it and the fourth has about 1 season left in it. The hubs lock and unlock with no issue at all. The original bed is gone and the previous owner put down steel to make it work as you can see in the pics. The passenger seat is in great shape but the drivers seat has seen better days. The horn does not work. There's a lot of potential in this jeep. the floor is solid but does have rust and some holes in it too. Tube steps are solid too. Below is a list of things included with the jeep.
new front leaf springs factory half hard top original jeep half soft top and bimini top full bestop soft doors (tan in color) full steel hard doors (locks and windows work) 2 generic seat covers (brand new) 2 haynes jeep manuals original air cleaner assembly (no filter but could be useable?) wiper linkage and wiper arms The jeep is being sold with a low reserve and if the reserve is not met I reserve the right to sell to the closest bidder. The jeep is for sale locally too and I reserve the right to end the auction early if the jeep sells locally. The jeep is being sold with no warranty implied, expressed, or given. Any questions please feel free to ask. The vehicle is located in Chicago and can be seen in person if you're in Chicago. Please just message me. Thank you for looking and happy bidding. Any questions please feel free to ask. Thanks |

Stellantis suspends vehicle production in Russia
Tue, Apr 19 2022MILAN - Stellantis on Tuesday said it was suspending production at its Russian plant due to logistical difficulties and sanctions imposed on Moscow. The world's fourth-largest automaker, which produced and sold the Peugeot, Citro¸n, Opel, Jeep, and Fiat brands in Russia, has just 1% of the country's car market. It runs a van-making plant in Kaluga, around 125 miles (201 kilometres) southeast of Moscow, co-owned with Japanese carmaker Mitsubishi, which halted production at the facility earlier this month. "Given the rapid daily increase in cross sanctions and logistical difficulties, Stellantis has suspended its manufacturing operations in Kaluga to ensure full compliance with all cross sanctions and to protect its employees," Stellantis said in a statement. The plant employs 2,700 people. The company will continue to pay salaries through a local downtime scheme and by using anticipated vacation periods, Stellantis told Reuters. It said it did not know how long the stoppage would last, adding that its priority was its staff and the return of peace. Stellantis had already suspended all exports and imports of vehicles with Russia, following Moscow's invasion of Ukraine, moving production to western Europe. It had also said it was freezing plans for more investments in the country. Van production in Kaluga had remained just for the local market. Scores of foreign companies have announced temporary shutdowns of stores and factories in Russia or said they were leaving the country for good since Russia began what it calls "a special military operation" in Ukraine on Feb. 24. Stellantis Chief Executive Carlos Tavares in late March said the group would have to close the Kaluga plant shortly as it was running out of parts. Separately on Tuesday, General Motors Co said it was extending its suspension of business in Russia due to the conflict and international sanctions. The U.S. automaker, which initially suspended imports into Russia and commercial activity on Feb. 28, said it was laying off most of its 66 employees and providing them with separation packages. GM does not have plants in Russia and only sold about 3,000 vehicles annually there prior to the suspension. Jeep Wrangler likely to get aluminum body, will stay in Toledo
Mon, 27 Oct 2014Perhaps more than any other vehicle currently for sale in the United States, the Jeep Wrangler is viewed by purist fans as a vehicle that simply must maintain the status quo. In this case, that means a body-on-frame design, solid axles, a relatively large engine sitting up front and a removable top. It's always been that way, and it always will be.
Maybe.
According to the most recent reports, the next-generation Jeep will continue to soldier forth with a full steel chassis underneath its stamped bodywork. The biggest change, reports Automotive News, will be that said panels will be hewn from aluminum instead of steel, a seismic shift of a transition not unlike what's happened with the new Ford F-150. Because it won't be a unibody, the SUV will likely continue to be assembled in Toledo, OH as it (almost) always has been - the latter has been a source of heartburn in recent weeks for the Northwestern city in the Buckeye State.
Dodge, Jeep and Ram could soon be owned by Chinese automakers
Mon, Aug 14 2017For the past several years, Fiat Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne has made it widely known that the automaker he helms is up for grabs. First, he sent an email to GM CEO Mary Barra, who immediately refused to even discuss a merger. Later, Marchionne set his sights on Volkswagen. That too was swiftly rebuffed. It seemed like no global automaker was remotely interested in a partnership. Now, Automotive News reports that several Chinese automakers have come calling, only FCA isn't ready to answer. At least not yet. The news broke this morning that a major Chinese automaker had made an offer to purchase FCA for slightly above market value. FCA refused, saying the offer wasn't quite generous enough. It's unclear which automaker made the offer, but Automotive News says there's more than one interested party. FCA representatives have recently traveled to China to meet with Great Wall Motors, while Chinese representatives were seen at FCA corporate headquarters in Auburn Hills, Mich. The Chinese government has a lot of money invested in local automakers. It's putting pressure on these automakers to expand globally, including to the United States. As it stands, it's a matter of when a Chinese automaker will start selling cars here, not if. Purchasing an established automaker with a wide range of products and a huge dealer network would do wonders in giving the Chinese a foothold here. Sure, Geely owns Volvo, but a luxury automaker doesn't have nearly as much reach as a more mainstream company like FCA. This seems like the best case scenario for both a Chinese automaker looking to move into the U.S. and for FCA, at least from a business standpoint. The latter doesn't seem to have any other interested parties. It will be interesting to see how FCA would sell a deal like this to the public. We're not sure everyone will be happy with Dodge, Jeep and Ram falling under Chinese ownership. FCA didn't turn down the Chinese because they didn't like the idea. It turned down the offer because there wasn't enough money on the table. Related Video: News Source: Automotive News Earnings/Financials Alfa Romeo Chrysler Dodge Fiat Jeep RAM
