1979 Jeep Cherokee Chief “S”

360 V8 Automatic A/C

Hello eBayers!  It is my pleasure to introduce you to a great Jeep.  This is a survivor 1979 Jeep Cherokee Chief ‘S’ Automatic.  This is a really nice rig.  As far as I can tell the paint is original.  There are some touched up areas and some nicks in the paint, but It looks just fine to me.  There is NO RUST IN THIS VEHICLE.  No rust in the jams or rockers or floorboards.  This has been a dry climate Cherokee and it shows.  I just put in brand new carpet up front and the floors were mint.

Speaking of the inside, make sure you look at the pictures of the interior.  Original and beautiful.  Clean and showing all of the original character that collectors always love to see.  It is important to note that the rear power window works properly with the key and the switch on the dash.  The wipers and blinkers and blower motor work great.  All the lights and work properly also.  The gas gage however does not.  I fill up every 250 miles and never have had an issue.

Mechanically speaking, I have had many many Cherokees and Wagoneers over the years and none of them have run as good as this one does.  She starts instantly and idles without issue.  It does not smoke ever and does not drip oil either.  The transmission shifts perfectly and the low range works as it should too.  This one has the factory locking differential too.

The tires are oversized as you can see, but they do not rub and the suspension has not been altered.

I just replaced the windshield because of a crack and used a new gasket as well.  The Jeep is sealed tight and does not leak a drop in a rainstorm.

I am selling this Jeep with a low reserve and I am confident it will sell the first go around here as long as these rules are observed.

#1.  Only bid if you have intentions to buy.

#2. Ask any and all questions before bidding.

#3. Please contact me BEFORE BIDDING if you have zero or negative feedback.

#4. This is an AS-IS sale.  I have done my best to describe it exactly as I see it but it has no warranties or guarantees except a clean and clear legal title after payment.

#5. I will not accept Pay-Pal for the balance payment of the Firebird.  Pay-Pal for deposit only, balance must be paid by certified check or wire.  Legitimate and legal buyers only please.

Just be real and genuine and I will make sure that the winning bidder is happy with his or her purchase.  I have 100% positive feedback and I plan on keeping that.  Also, I will end the sale for the right offer so don’t wait till the last second and worry about missing out.  Just call me and we will work out a fair price..  Again, ask questions about anything UP FRONT please.  After you win is not the time to do your research..  I will help with anything but before the auction end.  If you have conditions attached to your bids, please let me know them.  I am confident I can put your concerns at ease.  I am a licensed and bonded Oregon Auto Dealer and will follow sales procedures to the letter of the law.

FCA is setting a five-year strategy: Here's how the last one played out

Thu, May 31 2018

We're slightly more than four years removed from Sergio Marchionne last five-year plan for FCA, a tell-all where the Italian-American automaker divulged its plans for the 2014 through 2018 model years. It was a grand affair, where Sergio told FCA investors that all was right in Auburn Hills, Alfa Romeo and Maserati were making comebacks, and the fifth-gen Dodge Viper received a mid-cycle refresh. You can read every last one of those past predictions right here. We're on our way to Europe to see Sergio's sequel, coming out Friday straight from FCA's Italian headquarters. (Bloomberg reports a plan to expand Jeep and Ram globally, combine Alfa Romeo and Maserati into a single division for an eventual spinoff, and downsizing Fiat and Chrysler. Also, EVs.) But before we arrive in Italy and find out exactly what Marchionne has planned for 2019 through 2023 as his last act as CEO, let's take a minute to tally up the results of his last term based on the same scoresheet we used in 2014. Now, we're only five months into 2018, so much of this — including vehicles like the Ram HD and Jeep Grand Wagoneer — could still debut this year. For those, we'll mark things TBD. We're not going to draw any conclusions or make any objectionable remarks. We're simply going to let the stats speak for themselves.

Chrysler 3.0L EcoDiesel V6: Autoblog Technology of the Year finalist

Wed, 19 Nov 2014

Offering a diesel engine in an American pickup is anything but new - Ford, General Motors and Chrysler all offer excellent and almost impossibly powerful oil-burning engines in their various fullsize trucks. What is new and novel about the 3.0L EcoDiesel, though, is its size, and the variety of vehicles that use it. It's the smallest engine, as far as displacement is concerned, currently offered in a large truck in the US, and, for 2014 and 2015, it is available in the Ram 1500 and the Jeep Grand Cherokee.
Though it may be small, it's got muscle. While 240 horsepower isn't particularly impressive these days, the engine's 420 pound-feet of torque more than makes up for that. The torque rating is even greater force than even the big 5.7-liter Hemi can muster. Chrysler's well-regarded eight-speed automatic transmission makes the most of all that bull-headed pulling power in both the Ram and Grand Cherokee. Chrysler claims the Ram EcoDiesel 1500 can tow as much as 9,200 pounds when properly equipped, which makes it "90-percent of the Hemi with a night and day difference in fuel economy."
Make no mistake; it's that promise of a sizable fuel economy improvement that many long-haul truckers will be most interested in. In the Ram 1500 that we tested for our Tech of the Year competition, the diesel engine costs $2,850 more than the gas-fed V8, and Ram estimates that EcoDiesel buyers will pay off their investment when compared to the Hemi engine in less than three years, which is considerably less time than the 4.5 or so years the average buyer will keep his or her fullsize pickup. The more you drive, the more you'll save, and the math proves equally as effective in the Jeep Grand Cherokee.

2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk First Drive | Crazy. Good.

Wed, Aug 30 2017

TAMWORTH, New Hampshire – We're tempted to tell you that the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk is ridiculous. It's borderline frightening to think that we now live in a world where anybody with the money and the gumption can stroll into the nearest Jeep dealership and place an order for a 707-horsepower Hemi-powered Grand Cherokee. Let's put this slice of history into perspective. The original Jeep, the one used by the military, boasted 60 horsepower from the Go Devil four-cylinder engine under the hood. The most powerful version of the muscle car-era 426-cubic-inch Hemi was factory-rated at 425 hp. And even if that legendary powerplant was underrated from the factory, the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk still obliterates it by a couple hundred horses. In an SUV. Seven-hundred-horsepower sport utility vehicle doesn't exactly roll off the tongue, does it? And conventional wisdom says it shouldn't. But we're here to tell you otherwise. After driving the Trackhawk in and around the streets of Portland, Maine, and taking it to Club Motorsports in New Hampshire, we're convinced that Jeep and SRT engineers have managed to defy physics and reason. The Trackhawk isn't just fast, it's also manageable. Subdued, even – at least when you want it to be. Put the hammer down, summon the nearly demonic power of supercharged combustion, and all hell breaks loose. But the tires don't. With launch control engaged and with the programmable engine speed properly chosen, the all-wheel-drive Trackhawk rockets to 60 miles per hour in just 3.5 seconds, over and over and over again. No drama, no wheelspin, just g-force, pressing you and four close friends into the backs of your seats. It's addictive, and the only penalty is single-digit fuel mileage. But we'll wager a guess that anyone shopping for a Trackhawk isn't much concerned about its drinking problem. The only proper way to experience the Trackhawk's acceleration is from inside. But, to give you an idea of its speed and power, check out the videos below. Stick around for a walkaround both inside and out, and for a look under the hood. Jeep had to make a few small changes to the well-known 6.2-liter supercharged Hellcat V8 engine to shoehorn it under the hood of a Grand Cherokee. The oil pan is reshaped and baffled, the intercooler is modified, and the exhaust manifolds are new. The result is a reduction in torque from 650 pound-feet in Dodge Hellcat models to 645 in the Jeep, but we wouldn't worry about that.
