Hey all,

For sale is my 1983 Jeep Cherokee Pioneer. This Jeep has been my project for about 6 years now. I've put over 14k of work into it since the beginning, but I will give you the run down on what was done and what it has included. For starters, it has the 5.9L 360 V8 under the hood with a 2bbl carb and a 727 Torqueflite 3-speed auto. The motor was rebuilt with new seals about 4-5 years ago with documentation, and the transmission is much newer with about 2 years. I have never wheeled this truck offroading, as you may see the body work is done and painted. It has a 4" custom lift, 31" General Grabbers, and a rebuilt vac line 4 Wheel Drive. I had a full custom built true dual exhaust done by Murphy's Garage out of Linglestown, PA. Two Flowmaster 50s and Hedman Headers to match. I also upgraded the sparkplug wires to MSDs.

I had put in a full stereo into this jeep, but the subwoofer and respected amplifier will not come with. I will replace the front speakers as one was kicked on accident a few years ago and not replaced. I have gained a few vehicles and projects and this has been sitting for a little in my driveway. It runs and drives but I have had some issues with a dead battery, I feel it is a grounding issue or wiring. I have had this Jeep as a daily driver for more than a few years before I got another vehicle with better gas mileage, that is the only reason why it has sat. I had never had any real issues with this Jeep and I do not intend to sell it with what is going on currently. Before the end of the sale, I will fix the issue and the high bidder and come and inspect. I am considering replacing the rubber on the windows as well, but that can be discussed again with the high bid.

I do currently have ALL the stock parts for this jeep to include some extra parts that I had collected from over the years. I have stock springs, another grill, lights, carbs, and pretty much everything else including the factory trim. They will come with the sale and if anyone wants a full list of the parts I do have I will have to fish them out.

I have won a quite impressive award with this truck once I was finished with it at the Carlisle Mopar Nationals in the Jeep Cherokee section. I received first place and really haven't done much with the truck since then, but would love to have another caring owner to take it further. I loved this jeep since I bought it and so does everyone else who is kicking me for selling it. But it has to go. Please ask questions if you have any. Thank you,

Zachary Dickinson, (717)903-3291

Jeep three-row Chinese SUV will be called Grand Commander

Tue, Jan 16 2018

China is still very much a Jeep country, and the boxy XJ generation Cherokee lived and prospered there far longer than it did in the United States — until 2014. There have also been China-built Grand Cherokees, but the biggest Chinese Jeep has been previewed in the form of the Yuntu concept seen at the Shanghai Auto Show in April. Now, leaked shots of the Yuntu's production version have emerged a couple weeks after the SUV was spotted testing still in camouflage, and it appears to wear the nameplate Grand Commander. While a name like Grand Wagoneer would have been a stronger memento of Jeeps gone by, at least it's not called Grand Compass or Grand Nitro. The official reveal of the Grand Commander is expected to be held at the Beijing Auto Show in April, where more information will be available. Car News China says the big, nearly 16-foot-long SUV is a seven-seater, and the engine is the same 2-liter turbo unit also seen in the freshly updated Wrangler. There will be two power levels, 234 hp and 265 hp. The Grand Commander will most likely remain China-only, where it will be priced at $38,000. That sees it competing with Volkswagen's large Teramont SUV, which starts at nearly $45,000. Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party. FCA will pay you to hack its systems

Wed, Jul 13 2016

FCA is willing to pay you to hack its cars, as long as you tell the company how you did it. In an effort to enhance cybersecurity and prevent future incidents like the Jeep Cherokee hack last year, FCA announced it's working with Bugcrowd to find vulnerabilities in its vehicle software. Bugcrowd labels itself as a crowdsourced application security testing company. Users, or independent security researchers as Bugcrowd calls them, can find exploits or vulnerabilities in FCA systems. They then submit the information to Bugcrowd, who in turn supplies the info to FCA. The goal is to update systems and close any possible security breaches. FCA is offering bounties from $150 to $1,500 to any Mr. Robot types, with payment based on the size and severity of the flaw. FCA wants hackers to focus specifically on the UConnect website and the company's iOS and Android apps. No bounties will be given for anything outside the scope of those three things. Bugcrowd says it will not take any legal action against anyone who submits an exploit. While we think it's good that the company is taking steps to address these problems, it's not a groundbreaking maneuver. Other companies employ similar systems. Earlier this year, both Tesla and Uber announced that they're willing to offer up to $10,000 to hackers who find vulnerabilities in their system. For years, Microsoft has been paying hackers to find exploits. It also seems that FCA took its time to announce this plan, considering the Jeep hack happened nearly a year ago. If the partnership works, we can expect other automakers to make similar deals. Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences.
