I bought this a few years ago because as a young man, I always liked em' and couldn't afford so I guess it was a mid-life crisis thing. I've driven Wranglers in the past but son was growing out of the jumpseat and granddaughters would be easier to load in second set of doors on the cherokee. I love the simple/reliable engine and drivetrain of these Jeeps. My granddaughters can crawl back and hook themselves up now and my son is driving his own truck, grown up and working full-time so the Wrangler will work again. Now enough of my story and on to the details of the truck. This is an extremely clean Cherokee with everything working as it should, I mean that if you hit a window switch, lock or driving light switch, 4WD, AC, it works. I'm accused of being too picky and babying this truck, but that's just the way that I am regardless of what I'm driving. I have spent over $2000 (professionally)on bodywork/paint on the truck with two new doors on the passenger side(because they were rusted) everything else was cleaned up good and painted where needed. It's not perfect, but looks darn nice for an old Jeep. I don't have time to mention all of the "NEWS" in this truck but if it needed anything, it was done! From memory, I can remember replacing the rear brakes, rear half of exhaust, starter, 1000 amp battery, radiator, tranny filter fluid, valve cover gasket, seals on axles, shocks and HD springs w/Rough Country lift along with new Control bars, Adj track bar, extended sway bar links, 1" transfer case drop kit, sparkplugs, new 2" receiver hitch, 4- 70% Michelin radials, new driving lights, etc, etc. I have receipts for most everything I've done. I have spent well over $4000 on this Jeep in the past two years. The engine and trans both sound like new and operate that way with no issues, leaks, or oil burning. Does not burn or leak oil. Interior is very nice, non-smoking for it's life as far as I can tell(ash tray was clean when I bought it) with no smell or burns. Windshield was replaced when I had it painted to get rid of the sandblasted looking old one. This Cherokee is a daily driver for me and starts(cold MN winters), runs and will drive you anywhere in the country, looking very nice doing it. I get tons of compliments while driving it. Mileage averages about 20mpg, a little less now in winter with the choke operating more. The only "negative" I can think of is that the truck has a slight vibration above 60 mph when the lift (3") was put in, local 4WD shop tells me that is normal and doesn't bother most, but that a "slip yoke eliminator kit" with completely clean that up. Vibration comes from increased angle on the driveshaft, 1" transfer case drop kit took care of most all of this. 4WD shop says I'm a picky @#$&^%!*&, I took that as a compliment. Most familiar with this engine/tranny combo know that it is capable of extraordinary miles with no real problems, and this one was maintained meticulously with Synthetics in the engine and both axles always. I'm buying another Wrangler, so take advantage of my little jewel. If you're into lifted Jeeps, save yourself the money and start where I left off, off road tires, etc. $5000 doesn't buy much of a vehicle anymore, but it will buy this one! My boys talked me into the lift I did put in. Hope somebody will enjoy this Jeep like I did. The Yakima roof rack and canoe carriers shown in photos are not included. Thanks for looking. PS: After listing and reviewing the photos, I realized that the hard water spots and streaks show pretty bad from spraying it off recently. The finish when clean and toweled off is very nice |

Jeep Cherokee won't get diesel until sales of oil-burning Grand Cherokee improve
Tue, 01 Jul 2014Okay Jeep fans, you want more diesel options? Time to step up and prove it. The only way Jeep will offer a diesel powerplant in the Cherokee, according to brand head Mike Manley, is if sales of the Grand Cherokee EcoDiesel nearly double.
Currently, about eight percent of the Grand Cherokees sold feature the 3.0-liter, EcoDiesel V6. That's simply not enough to warrant the bringing an oil-burning Cherokee to the US market, despite the vehicle's presence in Europe, where it's sold with a 2.8-liter diesel V6.
"Cherokee is slightly different because of its weight and size. When I think about bringing Cherokee diesel here, I would like to see Grand Cherokee diesel get much higher than eight percent," Manley told Automotive News. "It would have to be in mid-double digits."

Your 2018 Jeep Wrangler can already be fitted with a Chevy LS V8
Tue, Feb 13 2018Over a long enough period of time, every car model on the planet will probably have at least one example receive a Chevrolet V8. And a large number of them will have an LS-series V8, commonly found in Corvettes and Camaros from the last 20 years (plus other GM vehicles in slightly different forms). Sometimes it doesn't take very long, as is the case with the 2018 Jeep Wrangler JL. The new Jeep has only been available for a couple of months, and already a company called Bruiser Conversions is offering to install LS engines under the hood. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings. Specifically, the company will install a GM Performance LS3 V8. Though Bruiser Conversions doesn't yet list exactly what specifications the engine has, it offers the LS3 in both 450- and 500-horsepower versions on the previous Wrangler JK generation. The new V8 will be fitted to the factory 8-speed automatic transmission, and the company says that the transmission will function exactly as it does with the original V6 or turbo inline-4. In addition, Bruiser Conversions says all factory gauges, cruise control, hill descent control and other electronic aids will work like they did from the factory. Pricing is currently not listed for the conversion, but the company is taking pre-orders for both in-shop installations and do-it-yourself kits. Going off the conversion costs for an older JK Wrangler, it will probably cost between $20,000 and $30,000 to have Bruiser Conversions do the installation. In the case of the JK kits, they're about $5,000 less than having Bruiser Conversions do the work. We've reached out to the company to see if we can get specific pricing and will update the post if and when we hear back. Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party.
