I am reluctantly selling my 1998 jeep Cherokee, this truck has been in the family since it was driven of the lot in 1998, a recent accident caused me to take it off the road last month.. I was going to do the repairs and use it primarily for recreation, but I know I wont be able to give it the attention it needs right now, so I'd rather see someone else enjoy it in stead of it rusting away in my yard..  I'm starting the bidding low, with no reserve as e-bay has a way of finding the fair market price, however if your looking for a jeep project or lift parts, tires,a rack or ladder this is for you, at a $850 opening bid, I spent more on the tires alone...

Alittle history...The truck was originally my mothers and I bought it from her in 2009 at app. 150,000mi.. she had all repairs done at the jeep dealership, which I thought was crazy, but our family always had jeeps and after a string of bad experiences with repairing a 1991 Grand Wagoneer she was convinced that only the dealership knew how to fix them right... I however have always fixed the truck myself so from 150k on I did all the repairs.. I've been using the truck as a daily driver to work.. 80 mi. a day (so all the miles on the truck are highway miles) gas$ also was a factor in replacing the truck..

I replaced a lot of components these last couple of months.. I had a engine code p0301(missfire cyl. 1) come up and was tryng to clear.. I did a complete tune up in august/September new spark plugs, wires, cap, rotor, new camshaft sensor(from jeep), new crankshaft sensor(also from jeep), I also changed the fuel injectors with rebuilt units the week of the accident! I have about 100 miles on the injectors I believe this cleared the error code but I have no way of knowing now...  I also installed a new catalytic converter, muffler, pipes from the cat back, and 02 sensors last year..

The accident in September, the truck was side swiped on the driverside and I hit into the rear of another car.. the truck starts & runs but the steering linkage was bent and damaged- so the front tires are toed-in too far, so it is undriveable an would need to be towed.. I don't know the extent of the damage as I haven't been able to drive it since.. the tires were not damaged however.. also the passenger front power window regulator is broken, and the key fob isn't working, but i'm pretty sure its just the battery in the key fob...

modifications I have made over the years.... in 2011 I lifted the truck with a rough country 3" lift kit- completely new rear leaves and front springs *NO CRAPPY BLOCKS AND SHACKLES* new shocks, and 31" BFGoodrich TA Tires tires still have a lot of life in them..    I also fabricated a roofrack and ladder on the back hatch.. both are welded steal and covered in bedliner, they are super strong I am 6'5" 300lbs. and I stand on the ladder and load the rack with no problem.. in the rack are 4 front flood lights and one rear flood light, all wiring was oversized #12wire and carefully run inside the rack tubing and controlled by relays in the engine compartment; plenty of power if you want to upgrade the lights.. to accommodate the added weight of the ladder on the rear hatch I added a third air shock to the door - the rear door flies up and stays up.. also installed Datsun Z hood vents in hood, aids in cooling engine in traffic and offroading.. on a hot day you can see the heat rising out of the vents- would recommend vents to any one with a Cherokee.. Truck also has a factory hitch or rear..

also in 2012, new radiator, new hoses top & Bottom, new thermostat, new water pump. Had AC compressor changed in 2009 at jeep dealership AC is still ice cold.

I can't think of anything else to describe the truck, I want to be as honest as possible, if I had the time and money to fix the truck myself I would, I have had nothing but good times in this jeep, they are easy to work on and drive forever, there's a reason you still see so many on the road! please ask questions I will respond on here as soon as possible.. Keep in mind the truck isn't drivable, and needs to be towed, I'm not a shipping service, I have no idea how much it would cost to ship, I will gladly help with whoever comes for the truck but I cant coordinate transportation..

The winning Bidder has to pay a $500 down payment to paypal within 24hrs of end of auction.. the remaining balance can be payed in cash or certified bank check upon picking up car within 7 days of auction end. please do not bid if you have no intent of buying this truck.. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding!

Jeep Cherokee joins Altitude trim line

Wed, 22 Jan 2014

Jeep fans spoke up last year by naming the Altitude trim level, and the automaker rewarded them with an assortment of cool Jeeps sporting a sinister, blacked-out appearance. Joining the ranks of Jeep models offering an Altitude trim level is the 2014 Jeep Cherokee, and this might be the best looking of the new Cherokees - including the Trailhawk.
Like the previous versions of this model, the 2014 Cherokee Altitude adds black wheels and exterior trim and molding, and it's only offered in four colors: black, silver, white and granite (shown above). You definitely have to love the look of the black accents since the Altitude raises the Cherokee's price by $2,000 to a starting MSRP of $24,995 (not including destination). Jeep says that the 2014 Cherokee Altitude is a limited-edition model, but there is no mention of any specific production figures.
Joining the new Cherokee Altitude are the updated versions of the Grand Cherokee Altitude and Wrangler Altitude with similar limited color combinations and pricier MSRPs starting at $35,290 and $31,595, respectively. These three new Altitude models will go on sale this spring joining the Compass Altitude and Patriot Altitude, which are on sale now. Scroll down for more info on the updated 2014 Jeep Altitude lineup.

2015 Easter Jeep Safari Concepts First Drive

Wed, Apr 8 2015

Imagine if once a year your grandmother made a chocolate cake. Not a chocolate cake, that chocolate cake. Blow-your-mind chocolate cake. But she won't ever let you have any – you can only have the spatula and whatever's left over in the mixing bowl. And you don't care. You look forward to that spatula and bowl every year because – "Gadzooks!" – that is some stupendous cake. For us, that cake is the Easter Jeep Safari. An annual pilgrimage to Moab, Utah for a taste of what Fiat-Chrysler's off-road brand has cooked up in its Design Dome. "No, you can't have any," the company tells us, "but you can taste it here, then dream about it until next Easter." In Detroit, Jeep gave us a close look at the seven concepts it built for this year's 49th annual event. Then it went a step further and took those show cars to Mill Canyon, UT, to crawl the red rocks in Jeep's natural habitat. After all, the company calls Moab, "Our home away from home." And it's not true that we never get more than a taste of Jeep's conceptual goodness – 2011's JK8 pickup conversion kit is a slice of Safari creation we can now take home, for instance, as are the hood decals that adorned two of the concepts we drove this year. Pietro Gorlier, President and CEO of Mopar, told us that the evolution of Jeep Performance Parts came from listening to journalists and customers in his first year on the job in 2010. So there's that. But still, we want more cake. Like a full-on production Wrangler Africa. These being one-of-a-kind prototypes traipsing through a canyon of nearly immovable objects, we didn't go fast, we didn't go far, we didn't push hard. But we did drive all the Easter Jeeps, and even just this small taste was outstanding. View 30 Photos Jeep Chief While we listened attentively to the detailed spiels on all this conceptual candy, one question ran through our minds: "How am I going to get in the Chief before everyone else?" And we could see the same thought every colleague's face, those scheming bastards. And why not? The Ocean Blue tribute to the venerable Cherokee of old grabbed everyone's attention since the first teaser images weeks before the event, in part because the vintage truck is up there with mermaids for rarity and lustworthiness. Anything that goes this far in obeisance to that classic Jeep is always going to score huge marks. The Chief is a four-door Wrangler underneath, but in many ways it feels nothing like a Wrangler.

2014 Jeep Patriot and Compass ditch CVT for six-speed auto

Mon, 07 Jan 2013

It was reported in Automotive News a few months ago, but a new report on Allpar.com adds some details to news that the 2014 Jeep Compass and Patriot will get a six-speed automatic to replace the CVTs they currently use. According to a tip provided to Allpar, the 2014 models will begin production in March and be on sale sometime in the summer. The Jatco-sourced CVT in use until now - Jatco is owned by Nissan and Mitsubishi - has been often criticized, and many won't be sad to see it go.
The incoming six-speed automatic is said to be an all-wheel-drive cog-swapper that's the work of Hyundai and Magna and has been paired with the DynaMax AWD system used in the Hyundai ix35 and Kia Sportage. It won't be the only Chrysler product using a transmission with ties to Hyundai: the six-speed automatic in the Dodge Dart comes from Powertech, which is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hyundai. With the Patriot and Compass said to be driving down the trail for the last time this year, it will be a short run for the new tranny and the rumored addition of a backup camera and power rear liftgate on the Compass.
