1996 Jeep Cherokee Country 350 Sbc, Chopped, 4 Linked And Street Legal on 2040-cars
Clayton, New York, United States
For sale is my 96 Cherokee Country. Bought this in February of 2011 as my first vehicle as a complete rust bucket. Floor was rotted, rockers, you name it. Slowly throughout the years, I've built it to what it has become and it is finally time to part ways. Some of you may have seen it in 4 Wheeler MAgazine. Body + axles have 245,000 miles.
350 Small block Chevy: Advance Adapters engine mounts and headers, Summit intake, cam, and lifters, MSD HEI distributor, Holley 600 w/ vacuum secondaries. New water pump, power steering pump and alternator 700R4 trnasmission that was rebuilt 10,000 miles ago: Shifts firm with a shift kit. NP231 transfer case with 241 input planetary and new range selector fork Iron Rock Offroad Hack N' Tap with rebuilt Cherokee front driveshaft in the rear 8.25 rear end, open diff with 3:55's. New brakes, trussed with all the brackets for the 4 link welded to it. 4 linked rear using OEM JK front lower control arms, brackets from Ballistic Fabrication, TJ Rubicon rear coils, Rough Stuff Specialties 7/8" heim joints and OEM F-250 rear shocks. Wheel base was stretched 2 inches at the time. Stock HP Dana 30 up front with 3:55's. Again, open diff newer u joints, may need ball joints. Rough Country 3" springs with 2" spacers and Rough Country shocks, Rubicon Express track bar, Rough Country steering stabilizer, aftermarket lower control arms. Chopped summer of 2012. OEM rear seat can still be used, sound bar relocated and works, rear window from an old Datsun truck that needs resealing. Bed and rear wall are all 16 gauge sheet metal. Rear frame section was replaced from sheet metal (which again, was rusted) to 1/8" wall 2X4 with the rear 2x5 3/16's wall rear bumper welded to it for extra strength. 2" receiver hitch in the bumper. 2X4 1/8" wall rockers with 3/16"s tree bars welded down the body seam and bolted to the floor..... which has all been replaced except the front half of the transmission tunnel, with 16 gauge and a rubber floor to top it off. 33x12.50x15 BFG All Terrains with 3/4-1/2 tread although they are cracked some but none have ever leaked air. Now for the bad: Needs a speedometer, I just never got around to buying one when I did the engine swap since the computer was removed and the gauges no longer work. Power drivers seat stopped working after the engine swap as well Needs a new flex plate. It rattles sometimes in overdrive and reverse. I have a different one, just need to install it. Finish wiring the turn signals in the rear. Again, just never got around to doing it. ^^^ Both the light wiring and flex plate WILL be done before somebody buys it. E brake is not hooked up. I can't really think of anything else wrong with it. I've built the entire Jeep myself since I never had much of a budget throughout high school. I have a few hundred pictures of it since I've bought it until a few months ago when I parked it. I've been starting it every two weeks and moving it to make sure its still running fine. It starts faster than my RX-8 even after its been sitting. Please contact me through here or call/ text me at 315-921-1-Four-0 One with any questions. Asking $4,300 OBO and I'm in no huge rush to sell it although I would like to start my turbo RX-8 build and could use the cash for that. |

Autoblog Subcompact Crossover Comparison | Honda HR-V, Hyundai Kona, Jeep Renegade, Kia Soul
Tue, Oct 15 2019LAKE LEELANAU, Mich. — Consumers, and consequently automakers, are increasingly moving away from sedans and into crossovers as drivers seek more space and utility on roads heavily populated by larger and taller vehicles. While the various crossover segments are dominated by bigger, more expensive, family-oriented vehicles, those at the very bottom of the size and price ladder are a little different. The diverse selection of subcompact crossovers are targeting an equally diverse selection of buyers who need something sized to fit into their urban and suburban driving lives — not to mention their budgets. Some sort of active, outdoorsy lifestyle is almost always intended. Enough of these small crossovers have popped up that we thought it high time to pick some popular competitors — the Honda HR-V, Hyundai Kona, Jeep Renegade and Kia Soul — and pit them against one another in a four-way comparison test. We tried to spec them out as closely as we could in terms of price, with the Jeep standing out as the sole outlier with a price over $30,000. Following in the footsteps of our midsize pickup comparison test, we drove up to Michigan's pinky, where weÂ’d eat, sleep, and breathe these four crossovers to figure out which came out on top based on our 100-point ranking of objective and subjective metrics. Autoblog Subcompact Crossover Comparison View 36 Photos Certainly, there are more choices available than this four (a Subaru Crosstrek in particular was not available at the time of our test), but we think the HR-V, Kona, Renegade and Soul are a representatively diverse collection of popular choices. Without further ado, here are the results of our test, starting with fourth place. Related: Autoblog's Midsize Pickup Truck Comparison Test Fourth place: 2019 Honda HR-V AWD Touring – 72.2 points The Honda HR-V is the second oldest vehicle in this comparative set behind the Jeep Renegade. We first tested it in April 2015. More so than its Jeep counterpart, the Honda feels its age. ItÂ’s dated inside and out, the infotainment tech is in dire need of an update (yes, even though it was actually recently updated), and the CVT feels at least a generation behind most others currently available. And that powertrain is the biggest issue that held the HR-V back from a better score in our comparison. Of the four vehicles, it has the least power, which makes the CVT even more of a nuisance.

Drive like a prince: Join us for a walk through Monaco's car collection
Fri, Dec 29 2023Small, crowded, and a royal pain in the trunk lid to drive into during rush hour, Monaco sounds like an improbable location for a huge car museum. And yet, this tiny city-state has been closely linked to car culture for over a century. It hosts two major racing events every year, many of its residents would qualify for a frequent shopper card if Rolls-Royce issued one, and Prince Rainier III began assembling a collection of cars in the late 1950s. He opened his collection to the public in 1993 and the museum quickly turned into a popular tourist attraction. The collection continued to grow after his death in April 2005; it moved to a new facility located right on Hercules Port in July 2022. Monaco being Monaco, you'd expect to walk into a room full of the latest, shiniest, and most powerful supercars ever to shred a tire. That's not the case: while there is no shortage of high-horsepower machines, the first cars you see after paying ˆ10 (approximately $11) to get in are pre-war models. In that era, the template for the car as we know it in 2023 hadn't been created, so an eclectic assortment of expensive and dauntingly experimental machines roamed whatever roads were available to them. One is the Leyat Helica, which was built in France in 1921 with a 1.2-liter air-cooled flat-twin sourced from the world of aviation. Fittingly, the two-cylinder spun a massive, plane-like propeller. Government vehicles get a special spot in the museum. They range from a Cadillac Series 6700 with an amusing blend of period-correct French-market yellow headlights and massive fins to a 2011 Lexus LS 600h with a custom-made transparent roof panel that was built by Belgian coachbuilder Carat Duchatelet for Prince Albert II's wedding. Here's where it all gets a little weird: you've got a 1952 Austin FX3, a Ghia-bodied 1959 Fiat 500 Jolly, a 1960 BMW Isetta, and a 1971 Lotus Seven. That has to be someone's idea of a perfect four-car garage. One of the most significant cars in the collection lurks in the far corner of the main hall, which is located a level below the entrance. At first glance, it's a kitted-out Renault 4CV with auxiliary lights, a racing number on the front end, and a period-correct registration number issued in the Bouches-du-Rhone department of France. It doesn't look all that different than the later, unmodified 4CV parked right next to it. Here's what's special about it: this is one of the small handful of Type 1063 models built by Renault for competition.
