This is a seized/forfeited vehicle and MUST be sold according to Illinois law: It MUST be sold in an auction-type setting such as eBay.  There is no Buy-It-Now option.  We will NOT accept any trades for this vehicle.  The vehicle is being sold AS IS and with NO existing warranty.  All sales are FINAL, NO returns will be accepted, and NO price adjustments will be given.  The vehicle will be sold to the highest bidder after the starting price has been satisfied.  There is no reserve on this item.

The vehicle (again) has 161,927 miles.  The vehicle has been driven by us only 2-3 miles, but appears to be in good to fair condition.  There are no known MAJOR mechanical problems (see below negative descriptions).  The vehicle has an AM/FM stereo with cassette player (stereo works; we did not try the casseette player).  The outside antenna was removed and placed (lying down) on the top of the dashboard.  The vehicle is equipped with A/C, which appears to be in working order.  The vehicle is also equipped with 4WD and a tow package on the rear.  The vehicle has a tilt steering wheel and a roof rack.  The seats are in fair condition, however need to be cleaned.  There is a small tear and hole in the driver's seat and a small hole in the front passenger seat.  The vehicle has power locks in working order (except that the passenger-side door needs to be locked/unlocked fron the inside).  The vehicle has power windows, all in working order.  The vehicle has manual side-view mirrors in working order.  All lights, lamps, signals, horn, front and back wipers are all in good working order.  The brakes and tires appear to be in good condition and the vehicle has aluminum wheels.  The vehicle has cruise control, however, we did not try it.

Notable minor damage/scratches/dents/imperfections/things that don't work or need to be replaced/repaired:  The vehicle will only start in the neutral position; we believe the vehicle will need a neutral safety switch (a minor repair).  The vehicle has a cracked windshield on the passenger-side (P/S).  There is a small rust spot on the D/S roof above the windshield.  There is more significant rust on the D/S and P/S running boards, belows both front doors.  The rear bumper shows numerous scratches and some rust spots.  The D/S and P/S rear 1/4's have small rust spots.  There is a small dent and scratches on the P/S rear door.  The P/S headlight molding is being held on with electrical tape, however, the light is in working order.  The vehicle has been in inside storage since September 2012 and periodically started.  The vehicle will, however, need a new battery and a tune up.  The vehicle starts right up upon jumping it and with no known major problems.

DISCLAIMER:  The vehicle (again) is a seized/forfeited vehicle and MUST be sold according to Illinois law; it MUST be sold in an auction-type setting such as eBay.  There is no Buy-It-Now option.  We will NOT accept any trades for this vehicle.  The vehicle is being sold AS IS and with NO existing warranty, neither express nor implied.  All sales are FINAL, NO returns will be accepted, and NO price adjustments will be given.  BUYER BEWARE:  Due to this being a seized/forfeited vehicle and having not driven it, we do not know a great deal about it's condition, it's history, prior damage, prior maintenance, etc.  Potential bidders are encouraged to view the vehicle in person prior to the bidding process, as there may be defects or undetected problems we are unaware of.  Potential bidders may have an independent inspection completed on the vehicle at thier own expense prior to the bidding process.  The winning bidder is responsible for the pick up of the vehicle or making arrangements with a private shipping service at their own expense; we will NOT deliver the vehicle.  We have described the vehicle as accurately and completely as possible, however, we will not be responsible for undetected problems, incorrect specs, etc.

Should you have any questions or would like to view the vehicle in person, please contact me through eBay email, ask me a question through the auction site, or telephone Sgt. Cimbalista at 708-579-2334 and follow the prompt.  I am currently working 7:00am-3:00pm (CST).  If I am unavailable at the time of your call, please leave me a voice mail and I will return your call as soon as I become available.  The winning bidder may pay in full upon pick up of the vehicle with either cash or a certified bank check only, at which time a bill of sale and clear title will be provided.  We gladly accept payment through PayPal as well.  Pick up of the vehicle should be completed within seven (7) days OR please contact me to make arrangements if additional time is needed for the pick up of the vehicle.  GOOD LUCK!!

Detroit Three automakers and UAW will continue to require masks

Thu, Jun 10 2021

GM CEO Mary Barra at a Warren, Mich., training center in September. (Reuters)   WASHINGTON — Detroit's Big Three automakers and the United Auto Workers (UAW) union said on Wednesday that workers will continue to be required to wear masks in workplaces. The joint statement from the UAW and General Motors, Ford and Chrysler-parent Stellantis NV said it was continuing the requirements "out of an abundance of caution." The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said in May that fully vaccinated people do not need to wear masks in most instances, including at work. The UAW and the automakers said temperature screening upon entering facilities is expected to be phased out. The UAW and automakers continue to recommend autoworkers get vaccinated. Many U.S. employers are still requiring vaccinated workers to wear masks in workplaces. Volkswagen AG's U.S. unit said it will "no longer require masks for fully vaccinated employees after June 21, and will continue to follow CDC guidelines." Toyota is among the automakers that has ended temperature checks and entry questionnaires at U.S. plants but it is continuing to require facial coverings. Honda and Nissan said they had made no changes to their U.S. employee COVID-19 requirements.   Plants/Manufacturing Chrysler Dodge Ford GM Jeep RAM Safety coronavirus

Jeep team takes a field trip to Wagonmaster; researching next Grand Wagoneer?

Fri, 01 Feb 2013

They have the very best intentions of rolling out a seven-passenger vehicle.
Wagonmaster has made a name for itself restoring and selling factory-perfect Jeep Grand Wagoneer models, bridging the gap between when the last production machine rolled off the line in 1991 and present day. The company's efforts haven't gone unnoticed. The entire Jeep product planning team took a little field trip to the company's facility in Kerrville, Texas back in December, and they weren't just there to take in the sights. According to owner Leon Miller's son, Chip Miller, the Jeep team was there to do research for the successor to the Grand Wagoneer throne.

Jeep Cherokee faces on-sale delay

Sat, 23 Mar 2013

A report in The Wall Street Journal looks at some of the obstacles to the 2014 Jeep Cherokee that go beyond its mootable yet "very contemporary" looks, almost all of them based on Fiat's financial position. Starting with that sheetmetal, in defense of it SRT president Ralph Gilles and Jeep design head Mark Allen said they wanted to "make sure the design still looks modern five years from now."
The WSJ piece doesn't cite longevity as a factor, instead saying that its features originated in a design for an Alfa Romeo, the transformation into a Jeep design meant allowing Chrysler get it to market more quickly and save "hundreds of millions of dollars" in engineering.
The need for Fiat to save money while it weathers the European situation has cut budgets for development, engineering and the pace of retooling the Toledo, Ohio plant to build the Cherokee. In a familiar case of snowballing at work, among the effects will be pushing back the Cherokee's volume sales date and delaying updates to some of Chrysler's other products.
