I TOTALLY BUILT THIS JEEP FROM THE GROUND UP!! IT WAS TRADED IN LOCALLY & HAS A REBUILT TITLE! THESE JEEPS ARE HARD TO FIND, ESPECIALLY IN THE 4.2L 6CYL AUTOMATIC!! I DIDNT GIVE A CRAP IF IT HAD A SALVAGE TITLE OR NOT! WHO CARES IT'S A FREAKING TOY! IT GOT FIXED RIGHT & RUNS & DRIVES GREAT & EVERYTHING WORKS LIKE IT'S SUPPOSE TO & ACTUALLY BETTER THAN IT'S SUPPOSE TO BEING AN 89' MODEL!! I'LL LAY MY CARDS OUT & BE TOTALLY HONEST HERE! I BOUGHT THE JEEP FOR $2,500 BUCKS JUST LIKE IT SAT WITHOUT THE LIFT & WITH THE FACTORY WHEELS & TIRES ON IT!! I PUT 17'' AEV WHEELS ON IT WHICH YOU DONT SEE IN THE OLDER GENERATION WRANGLERS LIKE THIS YOU MAINLY SEE THEM ON THE NEWER MODELS! REGARDLESS IT'S A GREAT LOOKING WHEEL & VERY DURABLE & STRONG!! I PAID A LITTLE OVER $900 BUCKS FOR THE 4 WHEELS! I PUT THE BEST OF THE BEST ON IT WHEN IT CAME TO THE TIRES!! BF GOODRICH MUD TIRES 33''S, I PAID A LITTLE OVER $1,500 BUCKS FOR THE SET OF FOUR TIRES! KEEP IN MIND I'M A DEALER SO ALL OF THESE PRICES ARE WHOLESALE PRICES MEANING REAL MONEY WHAT I PAID! RETAIL TO THE AVERAGE JOE OF THE STREET EVERY DOLLAR I SPENT WOULD HAVE COST THE CUSTOMER WAY MORE MONEY!! I PUT A 4'' ROUGH COUNTRY LIFT ON IT, FRONT TRACK BAR, STABILIZER BAR, WHEEL SPACERS SO THE TIRES WOULD SCRUB THE FENDERS, I PUT A SPARE TIRE CARRIER SWING ARM ON THE REAR, THE SPARE TIRE & WHEEL DOESNT MATCH WHATS ON THERE NOW IT'S ACTUALLY THE ORIGINAL WHEEL & TIRE BUT IT'S A FACTORY GUN METAL GRAY WRANGLER WHEEL & A BF GOODRICH ALL TERRAIN KO NEW TIRE THAT'S NEVER HIT THE GROUND ON THERE WITH A SPARE TIRE COVER OVER IT SO IT STILL LOOKS GREAT!! I ALSO PUT FABRICATED SLIDERS OR AKA STEP BARS ON THE SIDE FOR A LITTLE BIT OF A STEP OR HELP GETTING IN THE JEEP!! I SPENT A LITTLE OVER $2,500 BUCKS DOING THE LIFT, TRACK BAR, STABILIZER BAR, SPACERS, SLIDERS, SPARE TIRE CARRIER ETC.. ON IT! I ALSO HAVE A BIKINI TOP FOR IT THAT I'VE NEVER USED! IT'S GOT A BRAND NEW BESTOP SOFTOP WITH HALF DOORS!! FULLY SERVICED, BRAND NEW WATER PUMP, BRAND NEW RADIATOR & THERMOSTAT, FRESH OIL CHANGE, BRAKES & ROTORS ARE GOOD, I PUT A BRAND NEW TRANSMISSION IN IT WHICH WAS A LITTLE OVER $1,300 BUCKS!! IT'S GOT A MARINE SOUND SYSTEM IN IT WHICH CAN GET WET! IT'S GOT COMPARTMENTS BEHIND BOTH SEATS OR ON BOTH SIDES OF THE BACK SEAT THAT YOU CAN STORE A GOOD BIT OF STUFF IN & THEY ALSO LOCK! DETACHABLE CD PLAYER, CENTER CONSOLE!! TILT SHIFT! WHEN I PAID $2,500 FOR THE JEEP ORIGINALLY I DONT REGRET IT BECAUSE YOU CANT EVEN GO BUY A 4 WHEELER FOR THAT!! THE MILES ON THE JEEP ARE EXEMPT BECAUSE IT'S OVER 10 YEARS OLD BUT IT SHOWS ABOUT 230K MILES!! IT'S CARB NOT FUEL INJECTED!! VERY FUN JEEP & VERY TOUGH!!I GET LOTS OF COMPLIMENTS ON IT & I'VE GOT ALMOST $11K IN IT!!

The 2018 Jeep Wrangler will look a lot like the 2017 Jeep Wrangler

Mon, Nov 7 2016

JL Wrangler Forums suggests the next-generation Wrangler will be restyled in an evolutionary way that maintains the off-roader's classic looks yet adds new features. The forum used intelligence from spy photos and leaked images to assemble renderings of the new Wrangler. They show that the front end is still classically Jeep, but with modern updates. The LED headlights and turn signals revealed in FCA drawings are noticeable changes. An interesting touch is just behind the rear bumper, where there appears to be an air dam for aerodynamics. There's still a gap between it and the front fenders to keep the old-school look intact. The grille, windshield, and hood are also more raked for the sake of aerodynamics. At the back, the lights follow the FCA drawings as well, though the reverse lights from those illustrations appear to be absent. The square taillights are also shown on the truck variant, along with the plastic fender flares of the SUV version. Spy photos of the Wrangler pickup have shown a streamlined box with integrated taillights akin to the Ram, but it's likely to be a placeholder until the final design is selected. The sides of both models also feature more squared-off details in the top and door handles, generally with beveled corners for a more modern look. The top is where things get fuzzy. The new model might lose its removable top altogether, in favor of removable panels similar to the Jeep Renegade. JL Wrangler Forums illustrated how this could work in the above image. The roof can be removed in sections, and the rear-most windows can also be taken out. The overall effect is similar to that of a current Wrangler Unlimited. There is a potential drawback to this system, though. All of these hard panels will have to be left somewhere. And unlike the current model, this one wouldn't have a soft-top back-up when the weather turns. It's hard to say for sure if this design will make it to production. FCA has consistently and effectively hidden this part of its Wrangler prototypes since they were first spotted. At this point, we can only speculate on how the top will function. Otherwise, these renderings seem plausible, and we should know how accurate they are when the Wrangler makes its expected debut next year. The new Wrangler will likely have some aluminum body panels, an 8-speed automatic and an available diesel powertrain. AEV Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon

Fri, 28 Feb 2014

After their rented 2007 Hummer H3 failed them during the brutal Rallye Aicha des Gazelles in Morocco, Amy Lerner and her sister Tricia Reina were on a quest to find the most capable production off-roader for their next competition - they chose a 2012 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon. Their next mission was to find a company with the competence to configure it to win. After poring over Internet forums and perusing countless magazines for an outfitter who could meet their demanding requirements, they sent their bright orange JK ("Crush" is the official color) to American Expedition Vehicles (AEV) for some modifications.
The Michigan-based team at AEV kept the Jeep's 3.6-liter V6 and automatic transmission stock, but replaced the hood with a tall AEV Heat Reduction Hood and added an AEV Snorkel Kit for water crossings (it serves double-duty as its raised height helps to keep the air intake out of the kicked-up dust on the trail). Front and rear off-road bumpers were bolted in place, and AEV skid plates were added to provide additional undercarriage protection. A pair of IPF-900 off-road lights improve visibility, while a 10.2-gallon AEV Fuel Caddy (located behind the exterior spare) added some range. The suspension was upgraded with a 3.5-inch lift kit with Bilstein remote reservoir shocks, and 35-inch Falken Wildpeak A/T tires (LT285/70R17) were mounted at all four corners on AEV's beadlock wheels.

This is the face of the 2018 Jeep Wrangler JL

Tue, Oct 18 2016

These images come from a purported Jeep dealer meeting and show a poster detailing the brand's future lineup. Along with a look at the range-topping Grand Wagoneer, we can see the next-generation Wrangler, code-named JL, and its updated design front and rear. To the surprise of no one, the Wrangler will keep its seven-slot grille and round headlights. To those it adds some modern updates, like the LED light bars on the leading edge of the front fenders. (Given the 2017 LED headlight upgrade, we can bet the low- and high-beams also will use LED tech.) The taillights get an X design like those on the Renegade crossover. The overall shape seems to be a bit more tapered and smoothed, which is most evident in the shape of the sides of the windshield. We know from spy photos that the windshield has been laid back more, likely leading to improved aerodynamics and reduced fuel consumption. As a refresher, we expect the 2018 Wrangler to again come in two-door and Unlimited four-door models. It will have at least one gas engine, including a new turbocharged Hurricane four-cylinder, as well as a diesel option. Most if not all of the engines will be paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission, and a manual is likely to be retained on at least some models. A pickup version has also been confirmed. The new Wrangler is likely to be shown in early 2017, possibly at the Detroit auto show in January.
