starting at auction for under 5K with no reserve is a 1991 Jeep Grand Wagoneer Limited...the final year they were made. There were only 1560 wagoneers built for the 1991 model year making them the most desirable.  On top of that this Wagoneer is the custom color of Spinnaker Blue Metallic of only which 27 were ordered and produced. This vehicle is also a "Limited" which are rare also.  So we can accurately say that this is one of the few 1991 Grand Wagoneers Limited in Spinnaker Blue Metallic.

A 1991 Spinnaker Blue Wagoneer in pristine condition just sold in July on Ebay for $31,102 (Auction 161369949083). It had a factory sunroof so it was EXTRA rare.  Current NADA book value for 1991 Wagoneers is $20,600 high retail / $12,350 average retail / $6900 low retail.  These prices do not take into account the rarity of the color.  The original MSRP sticker price for a 1991 Wagoneer was $29,065.  It was the Escalade or Range Rover of it's day.

This 1991 Wagoneer is NOT in pristine condition. There are dents on the sides of the vehicle and a large rust hole below the rear door on the driver's side.  There is some rust under the vehicle that I have tried to accurately show in the photos.  This is a project vehicle for someone that is skilled at body and paint work that wants an iconic vehicle for their own collection or wants a nice platform to turn a nice profit on a highly sought after vehicle.

The odometer works and currently reads 14,350.  The previous owner had the engine rebuilt six to seven years ago and thinks it got reset then.  The previous owner owned it for nearly twenty years and drove it sparingly over the last eight to ten. It is possible that the mileage is 114,350 or more.  There is not a zero or a one in front of the 14,350.  I can not give an actual honest mileage for the vehicle and will sign the title over as such to the winning bidder.

There  For the good news the rebuilt engine runs very smoothly at 65-70 MPH with no knocks or pings and it leaks no fluids.  I just had a new catalytic converter installed and it passed the local emissions test in my county.  The transmission shifts very well. The 4X4 mechanism is in good working order. The seats are in fair condition with some cracking but no major rips or tears.  The original super plush shag carpet that Jeep used for these vehicles has some spots but no tears.  The dash is in good condition. There are no cracks in any of the glass or mirrors. The cruise control, power windows, locks, mirrors, and seats all work well.  All of the gauges work well except for the gas gauge.  All of the lights and turn indicators work well.  The Sony detachable face stereo/CD player (not original) sounds great with the original Jensen speakers.  There are four speakers and fortunately Jeep mounted them down low so they have not gotten sun baked over the years.  The Michelin tires show a good amount of tread remaining (the spare tire has the fourth original factory aluminum wheel on it like the other three) .  The Warn wench shown on the front of the vehicle is in good working order and will be included with your purchase.

I have tried to include enough photos so that you can accurately judge the condition of the vehicle.  Satisfaction is guaranteed.  I want the new owner to be delighted with their new purchase.  If you are the winning bidder and then see/drive it in person and do not want it I will refund your $500 deposit and offer it to the next highest bidder.  Please forward any questions that you may have or requests for pictures of a particular part of the vehicle. If you wish, if you are renting a car one way to come pick it up I will meet you with the Jeep at a car rental office in Chattanooga, Tennessee.  Happy Trails!

Jeep's 3-row crossover SUV caught inside and out

Mon, Mar 12 2018

Jeep is continuing to test its upcoming three-row full-size crossover, as evidenced by new spy photos shown above. Though the exterior doesn't reveal much new, we do get our first look at the inside of the new SUV. Unfortunately, the interior is well-camouflaged. We can tell it has the same corporate steering wheel and shifter as found on other Jeeps such as the Grand Cherokee. It also has highly-stylized gauges and needles, with an LCD display between the two main dials. The gauge cluster is interesting with a dial layout that is completely different from the two-row Grand Cherokee and the three-row Dodge Durango, indicating it doesn't borrow much on the inside from those vehicles. The tachometer is clearly visible, too, and it shows a redline of about 5,500 rpm. That redline corresponds with the turbocharged four-cylinder found in the Wrangler, Cherokee, and, in single-overhead-cam form, the Alfa Romeo Giulia and Stelvio. So it seems this big Jeep may have that four-cylinder engine, probably in the twin-cam Jeep iteration. This would also match previous reports, but we're sure if there will be other engine options. Based on leaked images of the SUV, it bears a passing resemblance to the Jeep Yuntu concept that was shown in China in April 2017. Those leaked images also reveal the name "Grand Commander." Many of the leaks and information about the big Jeep have been related to China, but with automakers such as Subaru and Volkswagen expanding into large three-row SUVs, we wouldn't be surprised if the big Jeep comes here, too. We could also see it carrying the old Grand Wagoneer name. Related Video:

Zombie cars: Discontinued vehicles that aren't dead yet

Thu, Jan 6 2022

Car models come and go, but as revealed by monthly sales data, once a car is discontinued, it doesn't just disappear instantly. And in the case of some models, vanishing into obscurity can be a slow, tedious process. That's the case with the 12 cars we have here. All of them have been discontinued, but car companies keep racking up "new" sales with them. There are actually more discontinued cars that are still registering new sales than what we decided to include here. We kept this list to the oldest or otherwise most interesting vehicles still being sold as new, including a supercar. We'll run the list in alphabetical order, starting with *drumroll* ... BMW 6 Series: 55 total sales BMW quietly removed the 6 Series from the U.S. market during the 2019 model year. It had been available in three configurations, a hardtop coupe, a convertible and a sleek four-door coupe-like shape.   BMW i8: 18 total sales We've always had a soft spot for the BMW i8, despite the fact that it never quite fit into a particular category. It was sporty, but nowhere near as fast as similarly-priced competitors. It looked very high-tech and boasted a unique carbon fiber chassis design and a plug-in hybrid powertrain, but wasn't really designed for maximum efficiency or maximum performance. Still, the in-betweener was very cool to look at and drive, and 18 buyers took one home over the course of 2021.   Chevy Impala: 750 total sales The Impala represented classic American tastes at a time when American tastes were shifting away from soft-riding sedans with big interior room and trunk space and into higher-riding crossovers. A total of 750 sales were inked last year.   Chrysler 200: 15 total sales The Chrysler 200 was actually a pretty nice sedan, with good looks and decent driving dynamics let down by a lack of roominess, particularly in the back seat. Of course, as we said regarding the Chevy Impala, the number of Americans in the market for sedans is rapidly winding down, and other automakers are following Chrysler's footsteps in canceling their slow-selling four-doors. Even if Chrysler never really found its footing in the ultra-competitive midsize sedan segment, apparently dealerships have a few leftover 2017 200s floating around. And for some reason, 15 buyers decided to sign the dotted line to take one of these aging sedans home last year.

Chrysler recalling 644k more Dodge Durango and Jeep Grand Cherokee SUVs over brakes

Wed, 02 Apr 2014

Early last month, we reported on Chrysler issuing a preemptive, proactive recall for about 25,000 units of the Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango. The issue revolved around a brake system that wasn't causing any actual problems, but delivered an unsatisfactory brake feel, so Auburn Hills called in a good 25,000 of SUVs around the world, including 18,700 in the United States.
Now Chrysler, having apparently determined that the brake problem on its sport utes is actually much bigger than it initially realized, has drastically broadened the scope of the recall. As a result, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has issued a recall for precisely 655,354 examples of the Grand Cherokee and Durango, covering the 2011 through 2014 model years. In addition, Chrysler is recalling 42,380 units in Canada, 21,376 in Mexico and 159,685 overseas.
The problem which Chrysler found revolves around the brake booster, whose center shell has been found to be subject to corrosion, allowing water to get into the brake system. That water in turn could freeze, preventing the brakes from working as well as expected.
