This beautiful and clean 1990 Grand Wagonner 4x4 is presented here for your consideration. This vehicle has been in my family for nearly 10 years. It has been meticulously maintained with love ever since our acquisition in 2004. It served as a weekend car (not for daily driving), thereby keeping the miles low. Just 69,540 actual miles. By keeping the car in a temperature controlled garage, we have kept the paint (and wood) looking fantastic. Owing to her age, nearly every mechanical component has been overhauled or replaced, at a significant financial investment. All of the records and receipts of these repairs have been kept. Despite being 13 years old, this car starts, idles, drives, turns, cruises and brakes without flaw. I have recently used it for multiple 200 mile trips to and from my summer home. This car is ready to drive anywhere in the country. The only reason for sale is that after 10 years it is time to move on. She's ready to find another loving home.
The many pictures really tell the story of this Grand Wagoneer. Upon looking them over, you will surely agree that it has been well cared for since new. A title history is available and there are NO title defects or history of any body or storm damage, insurance, salvage, repossession, rollback or anything else of concern. The 4x4 mode is working properly, so with just the flip of an interior switch you will find sure footing in snow or mud. Most of the time you will be in 2WD, thereby not unnecessarily using the strong 4x4 system. I've rarely used the 4WD but have recently tested that it works.
The engine compartment is well sorted, and the engine runs as it should, firing strong on all eight cylinders. The oil pressure gauge reads where it should and the automatic transmission shifts smoothly through all gears with NO slippage. A tow package was specified and there is an electrical connection in place. This high trim level model includes factory air conditioning (upgraded to modern specification), power steering and brakes, power windows and locks (all power windows and doors working properly), and powered tailgate glass (also working properly, which is rare on this model/year). Every interior switch and light has been brought up to as new standard. The power brakes work perfectly with no pulling or binding and she drives perfectly straight. Four (4) Michelin LTX AT 235/75R15's have been recently fitted (an expensive tire), with nearly all tread depth remaining (see pictures). Shock absorbers were also replaced at the same time. This Grand Waganeer has had a veritable multitude of of mechanical equipment replaced, including some expensive components. Recent work includes the carburetor, radiator, brakes, brake lines, alternator, electrical connections, battery, exhaust, steering, tie rods, AC compressor, oil pressure switch, dash glass, dash overlay, vent glass, tires, shocks, central electrical control module, accelerator pump, accelerator linkage, starter, ignition module, heater hoses, tail gate lifter, and more. All of this work has been performed during the the last 20k miles!
Partial list of new equipment/repairs:
- New alternator and electrical connections
- New battery
- New exhaust
- New AC compressor and upgrade to 134 coolant & charge (over $1500 invested in the A/C alone)
- New oil pressure switch
- New dash glass
- New dash overlay
- New vent glass
- New tires & shocks (over $1500 invested)
- New electrical control module
- Repaired accelerator pump & linkage
- New Starter
- New brake lines
- Carburetor Overhauled
- New ignition module
- New heater hoses
- New radiator (over $600 invested)
- New steering linkage and tie rod (over $700 invested, drives perfectly straight now)
- New tail gate lifter
- Power tail glass lifter repaired
The air conditioning system on this car has been completely redone and brought up to the most recent standard. Completely new compressor, seals, and charge. Over $1500 has been spent on the A/C alone.
ALL of the work has been done in the last 20k miles, much of it being just in the last 10k miles! The engine and mechanicals have all been very well maintained. A veritable fortune has been spent on new equipment and repairs. Most importantly all of the records of these repairs have been meticulously kept and will come with the car. Over forty pages of repair records are present.
There is minor rust near the wheel wells as pictured (which is expected on any car of this age). It is nothing that couldn't be easily repaired and repainted to brand new condition under a full restoration.
Please take a close look at the remarkable interior of this Jeep. Typically the leather and fabric on these are worn out, torn, or split, not on this one. Both front buckets are in excellent shape with no cracks, splits, or holes. The rear seats are in equally good shape, as are the door panels, headrests, and carpet throughout including the cargo area. Your passengers and guests will be surprised when they see it for the first time and notice that it has leather and power everything - a trendsetting classic with original amenities! The dash is also impressive, with clear gauges and electronic clock, all working flawlessly. There is also an factory overhead console with an electronics compass, thermometer, and map lamps, all working perfectly. If you are comparing this car to other restored Wagoneers, notice that this car does not have a moonroof, this is a good thing. The roof of a car is the absolute worst place to ad weight. The aftermarket moonroofs you'll find on some Wagoneers, present a failure point resulting in electrical problems and leaks, and actually reduce headroom (to make room for the components). You won't have any of those problems on this Wagoneer. The roof is as solid as it was when she left the factory with the original wood grain roof luggage rack is also present and undisturbed. Most importantly the original wood exterior siding (an irreplaceable part) is in pristine condition. The original radio has been upgraded to a modern JVC system with a theft-deterrent removable face and two auxiliary remotes included. Jennsen multi-way audio speakers are present throughout.
A timeless classic fun to drive and gets approving nods wherever she goes.
Thank you for your consideration and enjoy.

Land Rover Defender V8 vs. Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 | V8 4x4s square off on paper
Thu, Feb 25 2021Land Rover pulled the sheet off its 2022 Defender on Wednesday, introducing another high-performance V8 to the off-road segment. This time, it's a 5.0-liter, supercharged V8 boasting 518 horsepower. It will be available in both the Defender 90 and 110 models. In the former, Land Rover says it can crack off a 0-60 run in just 4.9 seconds on its way to a top speed of 149 mph. The long-wheelbase 110 will be a bit slower, but "slow" probably isn't the right adjective to use here at all. But Land Rover isn't the only automaker offering a high-performance variant of its off-road SUV. While Jeep may have been sneered at for presenting the 2021 Wrangler Rubicon 392 on the heels of the 2021 Ford Bronco's introduction, it starts to make a lot more sense in this context. There's reportedly a high-output Bronco on the way, too, so call Jeep the dinosaur of the group all you want, but you can't put a price on being first. Well, you can, actually, but that's not the point. Thankfully, both Land Rover and Jeep have provided enough specs for us to rough out a comparison chart. Since the Rubicon 392 is offered only in four-door guise, we're looking at the long-wheelbase Defender 110 as its direct competitor here. Have a look: There are a few caveats to mention off the top. For starters, we don't have an official curb weight for the V8-powered Defender yet, as Land Rover has not finalized its U.S. specs. We used the European figures (as provided by a spokesperson), which we expect to be accurate within about 50 pounds. The 0-60 time provided by Land Rover was for the Defender 90, which is smaller and somewhat lighter than the 110. When equipped with the inline-6, the Defender 110 is about a tenth of a second slower to 60 than the Defender 90, so we figure it should be roughly the same for the V8. While the Defender has nearly 50 horsepower on the Wrangler, that advantage disappears thanks to the Land Rover V8's monster weight penalty, which will fall somewhere between 600 and 700 pounds depending on equipment. Yikes. On the flip side, however, the Land Rover has the edge in top speed, and it's not even close. Chalk that up to the tires, we suspect. We know for a fact that the Rubicon 392's all-terrains dictate its speed limiter; Jeep's own engineers told us as much. This could make for a (hypothetically) interesting drag race, as the Jeep's advantage off the line may evaporate once triple digits come into play.
Stellantis announces ‘Circular Economy’ business to drive revenue, decarbonization
Tue, Oct 11 2022Stellantis has already announced its plans to reach net-zero carbon emissions by 2038. Today, the automaker has announced a new business unit to help it reach that goal while generating 2 billion euros per year in revenue by 2030. The “Circular Economy” business will help make revenue less dependent on finite, rare and ecologically problematic materials. The Circular Economy model features what Stellantis calls a “4R” strategy, comprising remanufacturing, repair, reuse and recycling. The goal is to make materials last as long as they can, reducing reliance on the acquisition of those precious new materials in the future by returning them to the business loop when theyÂ’ve reached the end of their first life. Through these processes, Stellantis says it can save up to 80% raw material and 50% energy compared to manufacturing a new part. Remanufacturing, or “reman” in Stellantis shorthand, means dismantling, cleaning and rebuilding parts to OEM spec. Nearly 12,000 remanufactured parts are available for customers to purchase. Some remanufacturing is done in-house, and some with partners and through joint ventures. Repair is pretty obvious — fixing parts to put back into vehicles. This also consists of reconditioning, to make a vehicle feel like new. Stellantis boasts 21 “e-repair” centers for repairing electric vehicle batteries. Reuse refers to parts still in good condition from end-of-life vehicles sold as-is. Stellantis says it has 4.5 million multi-brand parts in inventory. These are sold in 155 countries through the B-Parts e-commerce platform. Reuse also refers second-life options, such as using batteries outside of automotive purposes. Recycling involves dismantling parts and scraps back into raw material form that is then looped back into the manufacturing process. Stellantis says it has collected 1 million parts for recycling in the past six months. Recycling doesnÂ’t get counted in that aforementioned 2 billion euros of revenue, but it does save the company money on acquisition of raw materials. As for batteries, specifically, Stellantis expects this recycling business to ramp up after 2030, when the packs currently in service begin to reach the end of their lifecycle. Stellantis will use its new “SUSTAINera” label to denote parts that are offered as part of its Circular Economy business.
Fiat Chrysler target 850k sales in China by 2018
Sun, 11 May 2014Behind the vanguard of numerous Jeep models, two Chryslers, a smattering of Fiats and Alfa Romeos and local production through a joint venture with Guangzhou Automotive Group (GAG), Fiat Chrysler wants to increase sales in China more than six-fold by 2018. The group sold 130,000 cars in China in 2013, the aim for 2018 being 850,000 cars.
Ultimately it's expected that the Jeep Grand Cherokee, Cherokee, Wrangler, Renegade, the coming Grand Wagoneer and a sub-Renegade-sized crossover will either be built in or exported to the People's Republic. The Chrysler Town & Country and 300 will join the export list in 2016 and 2018 respectively, according to a report in Automotive News.
With a number of those vehicles not in production or perhaps even envisaged yet, and others not due on the local market until 2018, it will be interesting to see how Fiat Chrysler plans to achieve the target in the specified timeframe. The joint venture with GAG builds two products now, the Dodge Dart-based Fiat Viaggio launched two years ago - supposedly designed just for China - and the just-launched Fiat Ottimo, a hatchback version of the Viaggio. Fiat projected 300,000 Viagio sales in its first two years, that number has been adjusted downward to 94,000 and there doesn't appear to be an analyst alive that sees a good future for Fiat in China's overrun mainstream market. Still, last year's 130,000 group sales in China is a huge jump from 2012 sales of 66,000 units, but less than half the 300,000 units it projected.
