1978 Jeep Cj5 Lifted Rock Crawler W/ Strong V8 on 2040-cars
Manhattan, Kansas, United States
For sale is my 1978 CJ5 Renegade Rock Crawler.
Jeep has a spring over axle lift, power steering, new windshield, brand new 35" tires and rims, new jeep seats, new aluminum radiator, new radiator fan, full roll cage, Ford 9" axle in rear, 304 V8 with Edelbrock intake, Edelbrock 650CFM carb, Edelbrock air cleaner, manual lockout hubs, solid tube bumpers front and rear. and long tube headers that dump out the side. Frame is in excellent shape with no apparent damage, cracks or holes. Starts and drives with no issues. NOT A HIGHWAY VEHICLE. This thing has too much power, and too much lift to be driven on the highway without more modification. Body does not look pretty, but has solid floors, fenders, hood, grill etc. Gauges all work. 4x4 works extremely well, good luck getting this monster stuck!!! This rig has LOADS of power and is the perfect ride to get out and enjoy the great weather that's on its way!! =) The bad: Leaks out of rear main oil seal, leaks water out of water pump. 2014 Jeep Cherokee facing production delay
Fri, 17 May 2013Jeep's bold-faced new direction spearheaded by the 2014 Cherokee is facing some teething issues. According to a report by the Detroit Free Press, production start-up of the controversial new utility vehicle at its Toledo North facility is running about a month behind schedule "due to a wide range of issues." That's according to Mark Chernoby, senior vice president of engineering at Chrysler.
Chernoby maintains that the issues being encountered aren't unusual for the launch of a new vehicle - particularly one with a new powertrain - and he downplayed the delay, telling Jeep dealers that they "will have ample inventory of the midsize SUV by fall." Among the kinks being worked out? Calibrating the Cherokee's cutting-edge ZF nine-speed automatic transmission and refining assembly line tasks to make the process more efficient.
Chrysler expects to start building retail-ready versions of the Cherokee around mid-June, with official sales slated to start in September.
Jeep sets all-time sales record in 2012
Wed, 09 Jan 2013Last year was good to Jeep. Chrysler has announced its trail-rated brand set an all-time global sales record in 2012 by moving 701,626 units. That number easily surpasses the previous record set in 1999 when Jeep sold 675,494 models. All told, the brand saw a 19-percent sales increase worldwide over 2011, and much of that swell can be traced directly to the Wrangler. While the Grand Cherokee led Jeep sales, the Wrangler posted record numbers both globally and within the US, moving 194,142 and 141,669 units in each market, respectively.
Meanwhile, the Compass beat its previous global sales record with 103,321 units rolling off of dealer lots. In the US, Jeep sold 62,010 Patriot units, breaking that model's previous record as well. Jeep's impressive performance in 2012 marks the second year in a row the brand has seen double-digit percentage sales increases. Check out the full press release below.
Jeep Cherokee appears in Chrysler's second Super Bowl spot
Mon, 03 Feb 2014The second of three spots produced by Fiat Chrysler Automobiles for this year's Super Bowl featured the all-new 2014 Jeep Cherokee. Aired during the game's half time show, the minute-long ad didn't strike as anything new or innovative from an automaker with a reputation for above average Super Bowl spots, but it did show the controversially styled Cherokee in the best light possible.
