Up for sale is my wife's Red 2008 Jeep SRT8, which is notably equipped with a $17k Tony Bischoff/BES 426 Stroker, purchased, installed and tuned by High Horsepower Performance in Smyrna, DE this past July 2013. The engine lays down 502 naturally aspirated horsepower to the wheels.  It was tuned by Josh Schwartz, owner of HHP, which builds the country's fastest SRT8s.  I live in NYC- shipped the Jeep there based on my research and was not disappointed. The chassis has 46.5k miles and the BES 426 has approximately 4500 miles on it. We are a family of auto enthusiasts and this has always been our reliable daily driver, grocery getter, kid hauler. We have maintained it religously and it needs nothing. It did not lose one bit of reliability or driveability with the 502hp 426 install. It is a sleeper, completely stock exterior that shows as new, the deeper rumble through high flow cats the only hint that this truck has been breathed on. The truck has every option EXCEPT the kicker subwoofer system, which can be retrofitted. Also has transferable extended warranty until 11/24/2015 which is useful-but I would not have a dealer touch the BES engine/tune. About the truck: Exterior - Completely stock. Paint: Beautiful, detailed yearly, has front end clearbra since new; very minor scuff on front bumper (mostly clearbra scuff) from New York City parking Wheels: 3/4 are as new - just had them beautifully refinished, but one now has a small scuff on one of the spokes.  Tires: Brand new Proxes ST2 275/315 less than 500 miles on them and "whiskers" still intact; also purchased an 18inch aluminum spare from tirerack.  Other notable: HID self leveling headlights; Jeep tow hitch; full clearbra front end including mirrors Brakes: Rotors and pads changed approximately 10k miles ago with OEM rotors and Hawk Pads. Plenty of mileage left. Interior: Excellent condition. Options: navi; Front/rear video- both headphones still in plastic; Front/Rear Heated Seats; Heavy duty rubber mats used all year round Maintained as per schedule - Royal Purple HPS on Stroker; Jeep/Chrysler fluids in transfer case and differentials. New wipers. Engine - BES 426; AFE Cold Air; Magnaflow High Flow Cat X-pipe; Custom HHP tune/Diablo unit. I have all records/receipts for interested parties- this engine cost nearly 17k so someone will be getting a bargain. I also have dyno sheets showing 502 whp, title is in hand, no liens.

This has never been to the track but it destroys everything from a stoplight, with all four tires screaming for mercy.  The Diablo unit has recorded a 0-60 time of 3.4 seconds.

Payment via wire transfer, live-in person account transfer (Citibank), or I will accompany you to your bank to source a certified check (all major banks located within steps of my garage in NYC).  Any other forms of payment require 100% clearing before transfer of vehicle or title.

Star Trek actor's death may be linked to Jeep shifter issue

Mon, Jun 20 2016

The tragic death of Anton Yelchin on Sunday may have resulted from a known design flaw with his Jeep Grand Cherokee. The 27-year-old actor, best known for playing Pavel Chekov in the latest Star Trek movies, was reportedly crushed when his vehicle rolled backwards down the driveway in front of his house, pinning him against a brick pillar and metal gate. The 2014-15 Grand Cherokee was one of three models (alongside the Dodge Charger and Chrysler 300 sedans) that Fiat Chrysler recalled this past April due to roll-away risk. The vehicle was equipped with an unintuitive "e-shifter" that didn't deliver the usual tactile response of being shifted into position, leading to numerous drivers exiting the vehicle mistakenly thinking that it was in Park. The problem was reported to have resulted in 41 injuries – and now possibly Yelchin's death as well. The manufacturer stated at the time of the recall that "the vehicles involved in these events were inspected and no evidence of equipment failure was found." It determined that while the vehicle warned occupants if the driver's-side door was opened while the engine was running and the transmission not in the Park position, such measures may have been insufficient. Its remedy for the problem involved updating the vehicle software to better warn drivers in such an event, and changing the design for subsequent models. "Regarding the recall," an FCA spokesman told Autoblog, "I can confirm notices were mailed to affected customers. Included in those notices were tip sheets describing proper operation of the shifter. This supplemental information echoes the instructions in the owner's manual." Yelchin was born March 11, 1989, in St. Petersburg, Russia. His parents were a figure-skating pair, and defected to the United States when Anton was just six months old. In the prime of his career, Yelchin had several films currently in development, including Star Trek Beyond, set to reach theaters next month. His body was reportedly discovered by friends when he didn't show up for rehearsal. Related Video:

Weekly Recap: Lamborghini fires on all cylinders

Sat, Jan 31 2015

Lamborghini added 192 technicians and specialists in 2014 as the Italian automaker expands under the ambitious growth strategy of parent company Volkswagen AG. The additional workers helped Lamborghini increase its sales 19 percent last year to 2,530 supercars, and further expansion is planned for this year. Lambo has added more than 500 people in the last four years, bringing its headcount to 1,175. "Lamborghini is undergoing a strong phase of growth in both sales and in terms of recruitment," CEO Stephan Winkelmann said in a statement. "We invest significantly in our people ... in 2015 we plan to hire further." The supercar maker's solid performance last year came during a time of transition. Lambo sold off the final 265 Gallardos, which were the brand's best-selling models ever. Its 10-cylinder successor, the Huracan, immediately filled the void. It garnered 3,300 orders, and 1,137 of them were delivered in 2014. The other Lamborghini, the 12-cylinder Aventador, saw its sales increase 13 percent to 1,128 copies. The sales leap comes as Volkswagen drives sales expansion across its portfolio of brands. The German carmaker sold 10 million vehicles around the world for the first time last year. Though Lambo will never make supercars in great numbers, it is expected to contribute to VW's bottom line through its image and profitable sales. Look for further growth this year, and a Super Veloce version (shown above) of the Aventador has already been spotted during testing. Lamborghini has been working on a sport utility vehicle for years, though the company has never publicly approved the project. It also showed a hybrid, the Asterion, at last year's Paris Motor show, suggesting the automaker is considering an electric future. Other News and Notes GMC ponders Jeep Wrangler fighter GMC is considering adding a competitor to the Jeep Wrangler and has discussed the idea with its dealers, according to the Wall Street Journal. Details of the vehicle are unclear, but the report suggested the vehicle could have cues from General Motors' old Hummer brand. The move would broaden GMC's lineup of trucks and SUVs and attract new customers. GMC sold 501,853 vehicles in 2014, making it GM's second-best selling brand. GMC had more volume than Cadillac and Buick combined, though it's still well behind Chevrolet's tally of more than two million vehicles. The notion of a "Wrangler fighter" could be a moving target.

FCA's puzzling trademark spree includes Apache and Orange Peelz

Thu, Mar 12 2020

Here's one for the Mystery Machine. As noted by the WagoneerFans forum and picked up by Motor1, Fiat Chrysler recently went on a one-day trademark application spree at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. On March 6, the automaker applied for the names Apache, Farout, Orange Peelz, Shocker, Tomahawk, and Top Dog. All have been requested for "Land vehicles, namely, passenger automobiles," and the best guess so far has them being applied to concepts during next month's Easter Jeep Safari, which, assuming it goes ahead, will happen April 4-20. As for historical ties, one name has a connection to Dodge, another was a codename for a Dodge engine, and one was used on a previous Easter Jeep Safari concept. Tomahawk rings the loudest bell, that name applied to the four-wheeled, Viper-engined concept motorcycle that Dodge rolled out at the 2003 Detroit Auto Show. The company supposedly sold nine examples of the "rolling sculpture" through Neiman Marcus over a four-year period. It doesn't appear FCA has used the name since, internally or otherwise. There is, however, a Cherokee tomahawk — not referring to a Jeep, but the light, short-handled ax used by the Native American Cherokee tribe. This one seems made for Safari use. Apache has a Dodge and a Jeep tie-in. At one time, Apache was the codename for the 6.4-liter Hemi V8 marketed as the 392 V8 on the Charger and Challenger R/T Scat Pack trims. That engine makes 485 horsepower and 475 pound-feet of torque. But Jeep showed a Wrangler Apache concept (pictured) at the 2012 Easter Jeep Safari, built with a Mopar conversion kit for a 6.4-liter Hemi making 470 hp and 470 lb-ft. Mopar sold the V8 swap kits at least through 2016, but they appear to have fallen off the Mopar menu. At one time there were rumors of a supercharged Apache with more than 600 horsepower, and wouldn't that be a welcome surprise in Moab. The Farout could be a more or less extreme overlanding take on last year's Easter Jeep Safari Wayout concept, depending on whether one considers "way" or "far" more radical. The Shocker, Jeep might be disappointed to discover, already has an outside link in the Jeep Shocker stickers made for Wichita State fans who love America's 4x4. As for Orange Peelz, it's pretty close to Pedro's bicycling degreaser called Oranj Peelz, but a Jeep conception could be anything. Except maybe a paint color.
