For sale is a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee.  I bought this Jeep from a friend & the engine had a knock.  I paid $800 for it and dumped a whole bunch more money into it to get it in the shape that it is in now.  Mechanically, it's extremely reliable.  Cosmetically, it has a few issues.  My plan was to fix it up and resell it to make a few hundred, but i probably will be lucky to break even at this point as i dumped so much money into it & have most of the receipts to prove it.  I don't have a couple of the receipts since i bought injectors online & didn't print it off & paid cash to have a friend put a brand new windshield in.

The engine is completely rebuilt (not a hillbilly rebuild).  It has been bored out .020" with new pistons & rings.  It got new cam bearings, Brand new camshaft & new lifters, new timing chain, new oil pump & pickup tube.  Crankshaft was polished with new standard size rod & main bearings.  The head got a valve job and was resurfaced.  I paid $1,678.47 just for the engine parts and machine shop labor.  of course it got new gaskets, spark plugs, freeze plugs, water pump, thermostat, air filter, oil filter, probably a couple other small things that i can't remember.  I have only put about 2,000 miles (give or take) since the rebuild.  Also new injectors.

The brake lines were kind of rusty, so i replaced them all (including the hoses to the calipers).  The front rotors and pads looked like new, but i replaced the rear rotors and pads.  The tires have just over 15,000 miles on them & have the receipt from Costco showing the mileage when the were purchased.  They still have lots of tread on them and have no abnormal wear.  I also replaced the muffler and tailpipe with the brand "walker' from Napa.

The jeep was getting poor mileage (they all do), so i did some research and found that if you replace the old single port injectors with 4 port, it will increase the mileage.  It actually helped quite a bit.  95% of my driving is in town(35 - 50 mph) and i'm getting 15.5 to 16.5 MPG, which isn't that bad for a full time 4 wheel drive vehicle.  It was getting 13.5 - 14.5 with the old injectors.  I also replaced the transmission filter and changed the fluid.  The transmission shifts like it should & the transfer case works like it should.

The things that need attention are:  The air conditioning is NOT blowing cold.  Probably just needs charged but i never looked into it.  The passanger heated seat is not heating up.  The rear hatch is sticking when you open it - it still opens fine, but something needs adjusted or the latch is sticky - not exactly sure what it needs - more of an annoyance than a problem.  One of the headlight lenses is discolored.

It has a sunroof which opens & works like it should.

cosmetically - the interior has some stains.  The drivers seat and arm rest on the door have cracks.  The only real rust issues are on the passenger side doors on the bottom inside (see photos) and the drivers side doors are fine, but otherwise is in very solid condition.  It could definitely stand to have a good cleaning and wax.  The front edge of the hood is discolored because it had a bug shield on it & i removed it because it was cracked.  It's discolored where the deflector was.

I'm sure theres a few things that i forgot.  I have $3,500 into this and a bunch of work.  Cash on pickup - no scams - you look at it, test drive it and if you like it, pay cash & it's yours with a clear title.  I'm not really interested in trades.

This is the face of the 2018 Jeep Wrangler JL

Tue, Oct 18 2016

These images come from a purported Jeep dealer meeting and show a poster detailing the brand's future lineup. Along with a look at the range-topping Grand Wagoneer, we can see the next-generation Wrangler, code-named JL, and its updated design front and rear. To the surprise of no one, the Wrangler will keep its seven-slot grille and round headlights. To those it adds some modern updates, like the LED light bars on the leading edge of the front fenders. (Given the 2017 LED headlight upgrade, we can bet the low- and high-beams also will use LED tech.) The taillights get an X design like those on the Renegade crossover. The overall shape seems to be a bit more tapered and smoothed, which is most evident in the shape of the sides of the windshield. We know from spy photos that the windshield has been laid back more, likely leading to improved aerodynamics and reduced fuel consumption. As a refresher, we expect the 2018 Wrangler to again come in two-door and Unlimited four-door models. It will have at least one gas engine, including a new turbocharged Hurricane four-cylinder, as well as a diesel option. Most if not all of the engines will be paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission, and a manual is likely to be retained on at least some models. A pickup version has also been confirmed. The new Wrangler is likely to be shown in early 2017, possibly at the Detroit auto show in January. Jeep Compass, Patriot will stick around for 2017 model year

Mon, Jun 20 2016

The Jeep Compass and Patriot may be getting a little long in the tooth, but Fiat Chrysler Automobiles isn't ready to put them to pasture. At least not yet. According to Automotive News, FCA plans to continue producing both models until the end of this calendar year. That will also take them both into the 2017 model year as the manufacturer prepares to introduce their shared successor. Jeep will likely build a stockpile of Patriots and Compasses to bridge the gap until the new compact Jeep arrives. The move is just one of many FCA is making to trim unprofitable car models and increase crossover production. The Jeep Cherokee is set to move from its current home in Toledo, OH, to the plant in Belvidere, IL, where the Compass and Patriot are built; the same plant was also home to the recently discontinued Dodge Dart. With Cherokee production gone, the Toledo plant in turn is being retooled to increase Wrangler output by 50 percent, including temporary parallel production of both the new model and the existing one. Meanwhile the replacement for the Compatriots, as they're colloquially known together, is expected to debut this summer in Brazil. Production is slated to take place, both in Brazil and in Mexico, starting January 30, 2017, with production of the Compass and Patriot reportedly to continue in Belvidere until December 23 of this year. By that point, the Compass and Patriot will be a full decade old, having been introduced in 2006 as 2007 models. Along with the Dodge Journey, they're the last FCA products still based on the PM/MK platform shared with Mitsubishi. The Japanese automaker still produces several models on the version it calls GS, including the Outlander, Outlander Sport, and Lancer. Related Video:
