Rare find! This is an excellent, original low mileage Jeep Cherokee Limited 4x4.

Maintenance performed over the last two years:

1.  The heater wasn't blowing as hot as it should have been, so I had the heater core flushed out which solved the

problem. Heat and A/C are awesome!

2. I had a documented Jeep Service bulletin performed, which involved having an insulator sleeve installed on

the number 3 cylinder. Not sure exactly what that is, but it was a service bulletin that was outstanding, so I

had that performed.

3. New ceramic brakes all around (about 4000 miles ago).

4. New 'gold' battery (about 6000 miles ago).

5. I had a complete tune up of the vehicle (recent).

6. New water hose when I got the car. (Couldn't verify if original was still in, so I just replaced it).

7. New catalytic converter installed (about a year ago).

8. New HD Alpine stereo and speakers.  I took it to Shaun at 911motoring in Raleigh.  Hhad all new speakers put in and a bluetooth HD Radio that brings the audio up to high-end 2014 levels. Hands free phone, the works. (Oh, when I had the new speakers put in I decided to put in a new headliner). Just a note on this.  One of the ways to listen is on a thumb drive. I didn't even try this for the longest time.  Then we took it on a trip and I had a bunch of books on the thumbdrive, and it worked perfectly. I have one in the cabin now, and it's visible on the pictures.  This was part of the audio install Shaun did for me.

9. I didn't want to sell it with older tires, so I spent over $800 on a new set of Michelins. The ride was good before, but these tires made a big difference.  Wonderful!

10.  A lot of little stuff.  New windshield wiper blades.  A little latch on the center console. Detailing.

Regular (and I mean regular) oil changes.

The engine runs cool and smooth. The 4x4 Command Trac transmission engages and shifts nicely. This Jeep has never failed to start and get me going.  I didn't hestitate to take it on a one way 7 hour trip up to the mountains.  Zero problems! I average about 17 1/2 mpg and that is without trying to save gas. I tried once and got it up to 23 mpg. Your mileage may vary ;-)

Summary:  This was Jeep's top of the line model when new with leather seats, air, power windows and locks, etc.  Now it has been thoroughly updated to 2014 standards with modern tires and sound. Always garage kept which is why the paint has that luster (pictures are untouched!). The paint actually looks better on this car than on my 2006 Hyundai (Also garage kept).  The car, I think by now you may agree, has been well maintained and it shows inside and out.

There is a small dimple on the lower driver's side door at the bottom. This has always been adult driven car.  The prior owner was in his late 40's, and I used to be.

Look at the pictures. If you want a classic Jeep Cherokee, this is it.

Best of luck and thanks for looking.

Retro Review covers that Jeep Wrangler TJ you wanted in high school

Fri, May 8 2015

The Jeep Wrangler TJ holds a dear place in my heart. When they were introduced, the return to circular headlights helped pull my dad into the dealer, and he bought one. A few years later, I learned how to drive a stick in that Jeep. Now, MotorWeek has fired up the time machine for a look at the '97 Wrangler as part of the Retro Review series. One of the great things about these videos is that they offer a chance to see if nostalgia lives up to reality. In this situation, that seems to be the mostly case. Even when new, MotorWeek finds a lot to praise about the TJ, especially in terms of handling and style. It's not all perfect, though, with a major complaint about the braking. Watch the clip to see if the show's take on the Wrangler lives up to your memories of them, too.

Fiat Chrysler dumped 40,000 unordered vehicles on dealers

Thu, Nov 14 2019

In a move that echoes recent history, Fiat Chrysler has been making more cars and trucks than dealers in the U.S. are willing to accept, with Bloomberg reporting that at one point the automaker had built up a glut of around 40,000 unordered vehicles. That’s led some dealers to accuse FCA of reviving the dreaded “sales bank” accounting practice of obscuring inventory to improve the balance sheet. The company reportedly began building up its inventory of unordered cars this summer despite an industrywide slowdown in sales and an eagerness by some dealers to thin their inventories because rising interest rates are making it more expensive to hold unsold cars. The inventory build-up also coincided with Fiat ChryslerÂ’s efforts to find a merger partner, first with Renault, which fell through, then last monthÂ’s announcement that it will merge with FranceÂ’s PSA Group. FCA denies any such scheme and tells Bloomberg the rising inventory is down to a new predictive analytics system designed to better square supply with demand from dealers that is helping the company save money and narrow the numbers of unsold vehicles. The company recently agreed to pay a $40 million civil penalty to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission to settle a complaint that it paid dealers to report fake sales figures over a span of five years. While no one is suggesting that FCA is in dire financial straits — the company saw higher than expected earnings in the third quarter and record profits in North America — the practice has strong historical precedent by Chrysler, which built up bloated inventories in the run-up to its two federal bailouts, in 1980 and 2009. It was also common at GM and Ford during the 2000s, when all three Detroit automakers struggled with excess manufacturing capacity and plummeting sales in the lead-up to the Great Recession. Back in 2012, CFO Magazine wrote about a report that explained automakersÂ’ rationale for the practice and how it works: Say fixed costs for a given factory are $100, and that the factory can make 50 cars. Consumers, however, demand only 10. Under absorption costing, if the company makes all 50 cars, its cost-per-car is $2. If it makes only up to demand, or 10 cars, the cost-per-car is $10. Although each car adds variable costs for steel and other parts, if those costs are low, the company still has an incentive to make more cars to keep the cost-per-car down.

Fiat Chrysler posts record Q3 profit thanks to U.S. trucks and Jeep

Wed, Oct 28 2020

MILAN — A rebound in car production in Fiat Chrysler on Wednesday reported record third-quarter earnings as production returned to nearly pre-pandemic levels. The Italian-American automaker, which is finalizing its full merger with French rival PSA Peugeot, reported a net profit in the three months ending Sept. 30 of $1.4 billion (1.2 billion euros). That compares with a loss of 179 million euros a year earlier. The carmaker reported adjusted earnings before tax and interest in North America of 2.5 billion euros. That offset deepening losses in Europe, Asia and at its Maserati luxury marquee. Latin America, the only other region to post a profit, saw it narrow by two-thirds to 46 million euros. “Our record results were driven by our teamÂ’s tremendous performance in North America,” CEO Mike Manley said in a statement. Overall, the carmaker said global earnings before tax and interest were a record 2.3 billion euros despite a 6% fall in revenues to 26 billion euros. Global shipments were down 3%, due largely to plant retooling in North American to produce the new Jeep Grand Wagoneer in the luxury SUV segment and the discontinuation of the Dodge Grand Caravan classic minivan. Fiat Chrysler announced earlier Wednesday that its merger with PSA Peugeot is on track to be finalized by the end of the first quarter of 2021, as planned. To meet regulatory concerns, the French carmaker is selling a small stake in a components maker to get below 40% ownership. The new automaker, to be called Stellantis, will be the fourth biggest producer in the world. Earnings/Financials Chrysler Dodge Fiat Jeep RAM Citroen Peugeot
