AWESOME old cherokee for sale. Clear utah title. Rare up country off road package! This package included from the factory: Tow Hooks (two front one rear), skid plates for the front suspension, transfer case, and fuel tank, a Trac-Lok rear diff, auxiliary tranny cooler (Auto tranny) Off-road suspension with increased ride height, maximum engine cooling, and 225/75/15 Goodyear RT/S tires with fullsize spare and matching wheel, and towing package.

Runs great, had an engine and tranny swap from a 1991 cherokee with 139xxx miles on it right before I bought it from a local jeep mechanic.  Engine and transmission should now have 155k on them. (swap done 16k miles ago at 209,000 miles.) New engine had a top end rebuild when it was swapped. Body has 225x on it but you'd never know it! ;)

Had a transmission flush, power steering hose, oil change, k&n air filter, all fluids filled and 4 brand new goodyear AT tires 2000 miles ago! Doesn't leak! (by that I mean when I drive all day and park in my designated parking spot, the ground is free of any oil or other fluids in the morning ;)

Very little rust on the undercarriage (at least for a utah car.) Body is in great shape. Paint is oxidized on the roof and hood but nothing that is irreparable by a good detailer. Should buff out nicely! biggest/ only rust spot on body is smaller than the size of a quarter. Tiny bit of rust bubbling thepaint above the windshield.

Power locks- work perfectly!
Power windows- work perfectly!
Original premium audio- works perfectly!
Rear wiper and rear washer- work perfectly!
Electric defrost- works perfectly!

Everything works as it should! Low range and high range 4x4 are great!! Brakes are good! All lights work! Wired towing package! (hitch is a little rusty but does the job.)

Includes...

Haynes repair manual
Original owners manual
Original key and 2 copies
New air filter (still in box)
4 essentially brand new goodyear AT tires on grand cherokee wheels w/full size matching spare!
Jack, other original tools
Tow hook to tow the car behind an r/v or truck or whatever

Only issues that I know of:
-oil pressure sensor needs to be replaced.** this does not affect oil pressure!! it just makes the gauge kind of haywire haha. I tested the oil pressure with a manual gauge and it is perfect. $24 part at autozone
-Flex plate started knocking, I took the trans cover off and tightened/loctited all the bolts. Knocking went away. This is a common issue on cherokees, Just keep an eye on it. Worst case scenario a new flex plate is $50 and any good shop will do it for $250.
- windshield was hit by a pebble on the freeway the other day. Has a pretty good chip in it. Leave it as-is and forget about it, or spend $100 at a discount auto glass place and replace it. I tried to show the chip in the photos.

All in all, it isn't perfect but would be an awesome start for an off road project, or great to wheel as-is and fix up as a daily driver!! It has been my daily driver for a long time and has been an awesome car. It is a lot of fun and runs great. I have never wheeled it hard at all, and I don't believe the previous owner (original owner as far as I know) did either.

** Just to be clear on the tires!! The car comes on a set of wheels off a grand cherokee, with brand new (2000 miles) good year at tires.(setof 5, not pictured)
It ALSO includes (if you would like) the wheels and tires pictured which are the original wheels and 70% tread left on 31 inch bfg all terrains. (set of 5 with brand new spare). $400 extra.

*********FOR AN EXTRA $400 I WILL INCLUDE A MATCHING SET OF 5 (yes 5, spare included) 31 INCH BFG ALL TERRAIN TIRES ON ORIGINAL CHEROKEE WHEELS! SPARE ISBRAND NEW, OTHER 4 HAVE 70% TREAD!!***********

Fiat Chrysler dumped 40,000 unordered vehicles on dealers

Thu, Nov 14 2019

In a move that echoes recent history, Fiat Chrysler has been making more cars and trucks than dealers in the U.S. are willing to accept, with Bloomberg reporting that at one point the automaker had built up a glut of around 40,000 unordered vehicles. That’s led some dealers to accuse FCA of reviving the dreaded “sales bank” accounting practice of obscuring inventory to improve the balance sheet. The company reportedly began building up its inventory of unordered cars this summer despite an industrywide slowdown in sales and an eagerness by some dealers to thin their inventories because rising interest rates are making it more expensive to hold unsold cars. The inventory build-up also coincided with Fiat ChryslerÂ’s efforts to find a merger partner, first with Renault, which fell through, then last monthÂ’s announcement that it will merge with FranceÂ’s PSA Group. FCA denies any such scheme and tells Bloomberg the rising inventory is down to a new predictive analytics system designed to better square supply with demand from dealers that is helping the company save money and narrow the numbers of unsold vehicles. The company recently agreed to pay a $40 million civil penalty to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission to settle a complaint that it paid dealers to report fake sales figures over a span of five years. While no one is suggesting that FCA is in dire financial straits — the company saw higher than expected earnings in the third quarter and record profits in North America — the practice has strong historical precedent by Chrysler, which built up bloated inventories in the run-up to its two federal bailouts, in 1980 and 2009. It was also common at GM and Ford during the 2000s, when all three Detroit automakers struggled with excess manufacturing capacity and plummeting sales in the lead-up to the Great Recession. Back in 2012, CFO Magazine wrote about a report that explained automakersÂ’ rationale for the practice and how it works: Say fixed costs for a given factory are $100, and that the factory can make 50 cars. Consumers, however, demand only 10. Under absorption costing, if the company makes all 50 cars, its cost-per-car is $2. If it makes only up to demand, or 10 cars, the cost-per-car is $10. Although each car adds variable costs for steel and other parts, if those costs are low, the company still has an incentive to make more cars to keep the cost-per-car down.

Six 'shut up and take my money' cars

Tue, 11 Nov 2014

Any time you see this iconic moment in pop culture - Shut up and take my money! - posted in response to a new car reveal, rumor for an upcoming model or even lip-service to a vehicle that should exist, you can bet there's some intrinsic good in the idea. Though depending on the person offering up the cash, that good could take the form of extraordinary form, functionality, weight savings, power, handling, etc. You get the idea.
In fact, when I first proposed this list, I reached out to the Autoblog staff to help me brainstorm. Here are some of the ideas they offered up that I ultimately didn't use: Jaguar XE Coupe, Pagani Huayra Roadster, Mercedes-Benz S-Class "parade car" (cabriolet), Morgan 3-Wheeler with Ducati V-twin, Ford Transit Connectamino (pickup), Mercedes CLA63 AMG, Ford Fusion 5.0, BMW i8 Spyder, Lexus RC-F Shooting Brake, Volvo XC90 Polestar. Oh, and things we collectively wanted to stick Dodge's Hellcat in were almost as numerous as models that Fiat Chrysler Automotive currently makes (though none quite so compelling as the Grand Cherokee you see above.)
Ultimately though, while I used a couple of ideas from my colleagues, the list of cars I'd shell out for unquestionably is very personal. Though it isn't complete, what follows is a selection of cars whose very existence would prompt me - or the trust-fund-baby versions of me - to utter without hesitation: "Shut up and take my money."

Jeep rocks the Wrangler Red Rock concept in Vegas [w/video]

Thu, Nov 5 2015

The SEMA show may have once been all about dropping rides to the floor, but these days it's at least as much about jacking them up on lifted suspensions. And few show cars – or trucks, we should say – managed to embody that spirit at this year's tuner exposition quite as well as the Jeep Wrangler Red Rock you see here. The concept started out life as a Wrangler Unlimited, but instead of four doors, it has none. Or any roof, for that matter. Just a roll cage and a windscreen. What it does have are 17-inch wheels wearing 35-inch BF Goodrich tires and fitted to a suspension lifted by two inches. It also has a reinforced tailgate, power winch, tow hooks... everything, in short, that you could want or need for off-roading, and little more. As you can see, it also looks the business, with a custom hood, body-color grille, matte-finish bumpers, and a brown leather interior. Handsome as it is, though, its rugged beauty runs more than skin deep: lift off the sheetmetal and you'd find electronic locking differentials, a transfer case, and solid axles fore and aft. A more extreme take on the existing Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon Hard Rock edition, the Red Rock show truck was done up to honor the organization behind the Easter Jeep Safari that's a favorite among the legions of the Jeep faithful. And while it remains a concept only for the time being, a production version is slated to follow in time to celebrate the event's 50th anniversary next year. Related Video:
