1987 Jeep Cherokee Limited Sport Utility 4-door 4.0l on 2040-cars
Castroville, California, United States
Located in Castroville, California. In Monterey county's central coast.
This is a 1987 Jeep/AMC Cherokee Limited 4x4. VIN:1JCMR7896HT144194. Automatic transmission that shifts great. The 4.0 Liter inline 6 cylinder runs great and is responsive. It is the early version of the 4.0 litre which is know as the RENIX engine. It currently has under 134k original miles but they are going up since I'ts my daily driver/commuter. I am the second owner I believe however the Carfax shows only one owner. I purchased it from a nice lady who provided me with thousands of dollars worth of maintenance receipts dating back to the early 90's. The 4x4 system is the selec-trac I believe and works well as I have only shifted to try out how it drives but have not taken in it off road. The interior features black perforated leather seats in excellent shape for their age, and trim pieces, as well as gray perforated upper door panels and dashboard. Black carpet in excellent condition that is always protected with all weather rubber mats as well as the original Jeep floor mats. The headliner is black and is only about 3 months old. It has a pop-up sunroof that the previous owner had installed. The dash has no cracks but there is minimal "yellowing" on some spots. There is a light gray dash mat that protects it. All electronics work. However, the driver side power window is slower going up than the driver side. Power locks, power front seats, the cruise control works as well. The A/C blows cold air and the heater works fine however, it no longer lights up at night since a few weeks ago. Instrument cluster lights work as well as the brake warning light, low coolant light, high beam indicators etc. I will put up pictures soon and be sure to include detailed pictures of the cosmetic things it needs work on. Other than that, the reason I am selling my Jeep is that I have been commuting to school now and we all know that these are not exactly gas savers. I will benefit more from a smaller car as I also have a v8 truck. Local buyer is welcome and I can deliver within 100 miles. Otherwise buyer will make their own arrangements as far as picking it up goes. Please contact me with any questioned and I will be as detailed as possible in answering them to the best of my ability. Thank you for looking. |

Jeep Wrangler's shift to aluminum could see production leave Toledo
Mon, 06 Oct 2014The Jeep Wrangler may be a timeless design, but sooner or later, time will run out and Chrysler will have to replace it with a newer model more friendly towards the earth it's designed to traverse. That will, it seems, mean a shift to aluminum construction (whether just for the body or for the entire structure) - but what will that mean for the Wrangler's long-time home of Toledo, OH?
According to the latest pronouncements from Fiat Chrysler chief Sergio Marchionne, the shift to an aluminum Wrangler would likely mean moving production out of Toledo. "If the solution is aluminum," Marchionne told Automotive News, "then I think unfortunately Toledo is the wrong place, the wrong setup to try and build a Wrangler, because it requires a complete reconfiguring of the assets that would be cost-prohibitive."
Marchionne also indicated that, were Wrangler production to move elsewhere, it would find another line to take its place in Ohio. "One of the thing that we are dealing with now is what else we do with Toledo that fulfills our commitment to the city and to Ohio. I don't have a doubt that there will be zero impact on head count and employment levels and anything else." Jeep has built the Wrangler in Toledo since World War II, with the exception of six years starting in 1986 when it was built in Brampton, Ontario. The complex dates back to 1910 and currently produces the Wrangler and Cherokee. Past products have included the Wagoneer and Commanche as well as the Dodge Dakota and Nitro.
Dodge, Jeep and Ram could soon be owned by Chinese automakers
Mon, Aug 14 2017For the past several years, Fiat Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne has made it widely known that the automaker he helms is up for grabs. First, he sent an email to GM CEO Mary Barra, who immediately refused to even discuss a merger. Later, Marchionne set his sights on Volkswagen. That too was swiftly rebuffed. It seemed like no global automaker was remotely interested in a partnership. Now, Automotive News reports that several Chinese automakers have come calling, only FCA isn't ready to answer. At least not yet. The news broke this morning that a major Chinese automaker had made an offer to purchase FCA for slightly above market value. FCA refused, saying the offer wasn't quite generous enough. It's unclear which automaker made the offer, but Automotive News says there's more than one interested party. FCA representatives have recently traveled to China to meet with Great Wall Motors, while Chinese representatives were seen at FCA corporate headquarters in Auburn Hills, Mich. The Chinese government has a lot of money invested in local automakers. It's putting pressure on these automakers to expand globally, including to the United States. As it stands, it's a matter of when a Chinese automaker will start selling cars here, not if. Purchasing an established automaker with a wide range of products and a huge dealer network would do wonders in giving the Chinese a foothold here. Sure, Geely owns Volvo, but a luxury automaker doesn't have nearly as much reach as a more mainstream company like FCA. This seems like the best case scenario for both a Chinese automaker looking to move into the U.S. and for FCA, at least from a business standpoint. The latter doesn't seem to have any other interested parties. It will be interesting to see how FCA would sell a deal like this to the public. We're not sure everyone will be happy with Dodge, Jeep and Ram falling under Chinese ownership. FCA didn't turn down the Chinese because they didn't like the idea. It turned down the offer because there wasn't enough money on the table. Related Video: News Source: Automotive News Earnings/Financials Alfa Romeo Chrysler Dodge Fiat Jeep RAM
Forum die-hards render upcoming Jeep Wrangler JT Rubicon pickup
Mon, Jun 12 2017Our friends at JLWranglerForums.com shared the renders you see above with us, showing off their best guess at what the upcoming Jeep Wrangler JT pickup will look like. It's not due for a while yet, but we've already seen a lot of the truck (under heavy camouflage) – enough to piece together some renders. Some of the small details may change, but then again, the Wrangler is one of the great constants in the automotive world. Expect a lot of carryover from JK to JL. These renders reflect the latest gleaned from recent spyshots. Note the cut of the bed, which is angled to match the rear fender's forward line, tucking it nicely under the rear door. The doors will also not have a body line or crease running across them, apparently. That line will occur on the front fenders and the bed, but not on the doors, it seems. JLWranglerForums.com's has a good track record, and while there's no guarantee that the bits hiding under the camo and rendered here are final, this is likely a pretty good preview of what we'll see on the road soon. In the meantime, catch up on all we know about the Wrangler pickup here.
