Up for auction is a very clean 86 Jeep CJ 7. I have put a lot of money in this Jeep over the past year and due to some unforeseen circumstances I have to sell it. I hope it will find a new owner that will cherish it as much as I have.
Little history on the Jeep. I purchased it from the original owners son. He said is parents got it new and mainly used it as a tow vehicle. He had it for a few years and used it to commute and minor trail driving. He said the origial seats broke so he installed some Mastercraft Racing seats. Those were the first thing I replaced. He told me he loved the Jeep but had issues getting it to pass smog and kept taking it to different shops with no luck so he decided to sell it. Its been in southern California most of its life. When I got it, the Jeep was in great shape, besides the seats. There were 2 large CB antennas on the rear and the paint was faded all over with the clear coat starting to peal off on the hood. It had some Rancho Shocks and BFG tires. It was a good running Jeep, just ran real rich. I replaced the distributor and carburator with new replacements. Not re manufactured units, but NEW. I also added a MSD ignition box and coil. Replaced the O2 sensor, CTS, and EGR valve. With a little adjusting the Jeep passed the CA emissions test with ease. Then it went up hill from there. I started with the Axles, The rear was the stock Model 20. Early production 1986. I know they were weak. I swapped the gears to 4.10 and added a Detroit Locker and 1 piece axles with all new bearings and seals. The front was also swapped with 4.10 gears and a locker also. I then added a 4" lift kit with ProComp MX6 adjustable shocks all the way around. I purchased some 15x8 REV steel wheels and 33x12.50R15 Kumho Mud tires to top off the lift. I drove it around a bit then decided to have it repainted. The body was stripped down and all the trim, glass, door parts and everything that could be removed taken off for a cleaner job. I knew I was replacing the factory tire carrier so I had the body shop weld the factory holes to the original tire carrier and the CB antennas. The body and frame were rust free and in great shape. While the Jeep was at the shop getting done I stated ordering parts. I decieded since I was doing a 4500 dollar paint job on the Jeep, I might as well replace all the parts that looked worn. All the rubber parts are new. I swapped most of the chrome trim with all black parts. Weather stripping was all new. I found a 95 Wrangler family roll bar to swap out the factory one. New deluxe carped, bestop front seats, new dash pad, all new door hardware and trim. Leather door panels. VDP sound bar with the 6 speaker system and map lights. Pioneer Bluetooth in dash radio with Pandora. All exterior lights are new, with front halo LED and 6000K hid bulbs. Thousands of dollars later the Jeep was back from the shop and I started assembling it. Front and rear bumpers were replaced. Rear is a ball bearing tire carrier mounted to the frame with a hitch. Front is a stamped steal Smittybuilt unit. I had all the windows tinted when the glass was out of the Jeep. The top was repainted also. All the dash lights were replaced with SMD LED bulbs for brighter lighting at night. The flares were all replaced with new units. Front calipers, rotors, bearings, and pads are all new. Rear Shoes drums and hardware are all new. Has stainless brake lines front and rear. Aluminum radiator with electric fans from a Ford Contour that are wired to a 190 degree switch sitting in the thermostat housing. Always runs cool, even in the 107 degree weather we were having for the past few weeks in Socal. I know there is a lot of items I have not mentioned on the Jeep. It is a great running Jeep that walks up rocks like nothing. It looks better then new. The body shop floated the whole Jeep to take the factory stamping marks out. I do not want to sell it. I poured thousands of dollars into this Jeep with high quality replacement parts. Invoices so high I could have bought a Rubicon. I have always loved the CJ body style and still do. We drive the cars of Furious 7... in Forza Horizon 2 [w/video]
Thu, Apr 9 2015On March 27, Turn 10 Studios, the folks behind the Forza Motorsport series, and Universal Pictures, the studio responsible for the Fast and Furious franchise, gave us a match made in heaven, announcing a "standalone expansion" featuring the two franchises. Called Forza Horizon 2 Presents Fast and Furious, it features the cars from the latest film installment, unique missions and the voice-acting of Chris "Ludacris" Bridges, who plays tech guru Tej Parker on camera. A Fast and Furious video game? Seems like a no brainer. It gets better. Rather than limiting the Fast and Furious Edition cars to the expansion game, Turn 10 made them available through one of their (some may say notorious) downloadable content packages. Eight of the expansion's 11 cars were made available for just $4.99 (the only cars that weren't included were the Fast and Furious Edition Nissan GT-R, while the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport and McLaren P1 are already available in-game). What's cool ais that the cars featured in both games are visually identical to the vehicles driven by the stars of Furious 7. Each in-game car has an on-screen parallel that plays a role in advancing the film's story. Considering that we're unlikely to score seat time in Dominic Toretto's real Dodge Charger, then, we figured we'd take to the game and test the car in the digital realm. We've got nine little cluster reviews, covering the cars both in the game and how they appear in the movies. And don't worry, there are no major spoilers here. Furious 7 marks the fourth appearance of this Mopar beast in the series. Not surprisingly it's a handful to drive, wildly quick and with a four-speed transmission packed full of very tall gears. But beyond that, it's arguably the coolest of the FF Edition cars. This black beauty is exactly as it appears in the latest installment of the film, with the video game version featuring intricate little details, like the moving parts on the BDS supercharger. It's an iconic car, and it's treated as such in the game.
Fiesta-sized Jeep coming in 2014
Wed, 03 Jul 2013We've heard rumors before about a new, baby Jeep to slot below the new-for-2014 Cherokee (pictured) in the automaker's lineup. Now, Edmunds is reporting that the new crossover will arrive sometime in 2014, and will be about the same size as the Ford Fiesta. This currently unnamed vehicle will effectively replace both the Compass and Patriot in the Jeep lineup.
Speaking to Edmunds, Jeep CEO Mike Manley said that the new, small Jeep will be assembled in Italy and marketed globally beginning sometime next year. Manley did not provide many details on the new model, but did say that it will be 4.2-meters (165 inches) long. The Cherokee, by comparison, is 4.6-meters long (181 inches). Furthermore, Edmunds reports that while the new small Jeep will offer diesel power in other markets, there are no plans for an oil-burning version here in the US.
Many other automakers are exploring this smaller crossover segment here in the US. General Motors recently launched the Buick Encore, which is loosely based on the Chevrolet Sonic subcompact's platform. Ford has already launched its Fiesta-based EcoSport in other markets, and has reportedly been pondering the idea of offering it in the US, as well.
Fiat Chrysler recalls 650,000 Dodge, Jeep SUVs for brake issue
Tue, Oct 3 2017Fiat Chrysler Automobiles said Tuesday it's voluntarily recalling nearly 650,000 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango SUVs to ensure that brake-booster shields were properly installed. The recall affects mostly vehicles sold in the U.S. but also roughly 60,000 combined in Canada and Mexico. The shields were installed in 2014 in conjunction with a recall involving the same set of vehicles, which cover the model years 2011 through 2014. A review of warranty data led to an FCA U.S. investigation that discovered the problem. FCA says it is aware of one potentially related accident, but no injuries. The shields are designed to keep water away from the boosters, lest it cause corrosion or freeze in cold temperatures and negatively affect brake performance. Brakes will still function even if boosters are compromised by water, FCA says, but drivers may experience brake-pedal firmness. In some cases, a potential booster issue may trigger a warning light or activation of the anti-lock brakes. Customers who've observed any of those conditions are urged to contact their dealers. The automaker says it plans to notify affected owners that free service to check and repair the issue if necessary will be available in early November.
