1985 CJ-7 Laredo, 258 straight 6 (4.2L) with 4-speed manual, 122xxx miles
The entire body exterior was recently sprayed with truck bedliner by Line-X of Lancaster
Underbody and frame coated with black POR-15 rust-preventative paint, and I'm in the process of finishing the inside of the tub with the same paint

I've had this Jeep for 2+ years and put about 20K miles on it, and it's been the most reliable vehicle I've ever owned. I'm selling it simply because I took a new job that requires an 80+ mile round trip every day, and if you've ever owned a Jeep, you understand why that isn't practical. The Jeep runs very smoothly, especially after having the carburetor professionally adjusted. Is idles at 500 RPM and gets around 20 MPG on the highway, which is excellent for this motor. The clutch and transmission have always been trouble-free and the 4x4 works great in the snow. It will be ready for off-roading with nothing more than beefier tires. I took it on as a small project that I'm finally satisfied with. That combined with my long commute has put me back in the market for a car, and has freed up time for me to take on a new project. And no, I don't want another project, so don't offer trades on anything that needs major work.

New parts include:
Original CJ fiberglass hard top
Bestop Supertop with tinted rear and side windows (installed)
Spare tan soft top, worn but still usable
Bestop bikini top included (ok so I guess that makes 4 tops, not 2...)
Warn front bumper and 6000lb Warn winch
Rugged Ridge 7" fender flares (recently installed)
Front fenders and hood (originals just starting to rust)
Mopar Performance valve cover
Hella headlights
good tread on tires
new wiper arms and blades
intake and exhaust manifold gasket, no exhaust leaks anywhere
carburetor recently cleaned and tweaked
K&N oil and air filters, always
Mojave 12,000 BTU heater
Pioneer receiver and speakers
More additions than I can remember at this point....

I'm not in any hurry to get rid of it. I'd certainly prefer to sell it for cash, $6000 OBO, but I would entertain trades for anything that gets reasonable gas mileage that I can use as a beater/daily driver IF you have cash to add. No bikes, no quads, nothing idiotic.

Work at a Chrysler dealership, get free college education

Mon, May 4 2015

The cost of a college education in the US can put a student tens (hundreds, in some cases) of thousands of dollars into debt. FCA US wants to give its dealership employees a leg up, though, and the automaker is now offering a completely free education to them through a partnership with Strayer University. The workers can take any of the college's classes online or on campus through program called Degrees@Work. Currently, the offer is only available to employees Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, Ram and Fiat dealers in the automaker's Southeast region, which includes Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Alabama and Tennessee. However, a national expansion will happen before the end of the year, Strayer spokesperson Cristina Henley tells Autoblog. The program will cover all of the students' expenses, including their books, according to Henley. FCA US sees this partnership as a way to improve the talent of its workforce, retain employees longer and possibly attract people wanting to take advantage of this free education. "Many of our dealers have expressed concern over the availability of talent to fill open positions due to business growth and turnover in their stores, especially in metro markets," Al Gardner, the company's Head of Dealer Network Development, said in the Degrees@Work announcement. Strayer has about 40 programs available, including in business administration, accounting, marketing, and more, and the university offers associate's, bachelor's, and master's degrees. It will also give FCA US employees credit for their work experience to get them a diploma even more quickly. FCA US Dealers to Offer Employees No-Cost, No-Debt College Education FCA US teams with Strayer University to develop first-of-its-kind dealer program Degrees@Work program open to all employees of participating dealerships Employees can earn no-cost, no-debt degree through Strayer University All Chrysler, Jeep®, Dodge, Ram and FIAT dealerships may participate First phase of program rollout begins with dealers in the FCA US Southeast Business Center National rollout expected later this year May 4, 2015 , Auburn Hills, Mich. - Employees of Chrysler, JeepĀ®, Dodge, Ram and FIAT dealerships will have the unique opportunity to earn a no-cost, no-debt college degree through Strayer University's Degrees@Work program, developed in collaboration with FCA US LLC. FCA US is the only company in the automotive industry to offer the program.

2018 Jeep Wrangler JL order guide leaks, ordering open at dealers

Tue, Oct 24 2017

It's been a big day for Jeep news. Earlier today, a leaked timeline revealed that the new 2018 Jeep Wrangler JL will make its debut sometime in November, likely at either SEMA or the Los Angeles Auto Show. Now, thanks to our friends at JL Wrangler Forums, we have news that an order guide has leaked and order banks are open. That means you should be able to go to a Jeep dealer and place an order for a new Wrangler now. This order guide only covers the four-door Wrangler Unlimited, but it gives us a pretty clear look at the new model. At launch, the Wrangler Unlimited will come in three trims - Sport, Sahara and Rubicon. The only available engine will be FCA's 3.6-liter Pentastar V6. Those hoping for a diesel will have to wait a little while longer. All three models will offer both a manual and automatic transmission. While the current model is available in a wide range of colors, initially only five - Billet Silver, Black, Bright White, Firecracker Red and Granite Crystal - will be offered. Poring over the guide shows that features line-up pretty closely with the current model. Hardtops are still optional, as is leather on the Sahara and Rubicon. It doesn't look like you'll be able to get a Sport with a body-color top and the dual-top option for the Rubicon is only listed on the order banks with a black hardtop. The Sahara and Rubicon both have optional trailer hitches and the Rubicon has an optional steel bumper. There's lots we still don't know, but look for more news in the next month or so after the new Wrangler finally debuts. Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party. Autoblog Minute: FCA hit with record fine, issues recall and buyback

Tue, Aug 4 2015

FCA, found in violation of the Motor Vehicle Safety Act, agrees to buyback recalled models as part of record penalties issued by National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The cars in question are more than half a million Chrysler vehicles with defective suspension parts that could cause cars to lose control, and more than a million Jeeps that are prone to deadly fires.
