Selling my wife’s 1979 Jeep CJ5 Custom Resale RED “Hot Rod”!

Yeah you heard me right my wife’s Jeep. A couple of years ago she wanted a toy to ride around town in and take to the local car shows and monthly cruise in. Well she found this Jeep and fell in love with it. It is COOL, FAST, LOUD, DEPENDABLE, FUN and gets attention everywhere you go.

This Jeep underwent a full frame off restoration. Then later the owner at that time had an awesome

It is mated up to a GM TH350 automatic transmission attached with Advance Adapters to the stock Dana 20 transfer case with custom drive shafts running to a stock front end and to a fully custom Ford 9 inch rear end. The rear was narrowed and features Lock-Right Powertrax Automatic Positive locking Differential. The front axle sports Pro-Comp hubs. Controlling the TH350 is a B & M bump shifter with reverse lock out. If you want to leave a red light FAST this Jeep will make it happen with slight pressure on the right foot!

The GOOD:

This Jeep really looks sharp

It has a slick paint job that from 5 feet looks perfect

It starts runs and shifts like it should

The four wheel drive works perfectly in high and low range

Disc brakes front and Drum rear stop the Jeep straight and safely

The interior is clean and nice

It sounds GREAT! You will wake your neighbors

The winch has never been used and works as new w/ remote

Passes North Carolina inspection

All lights work – Headlights both low & high, brakes, running and turn signals

All gauges work perfectly

Indicator lights for high beam and turn signals all work

The windshield wipers work in both high and low speeds

The Bad:

The paint is not 100% perfect. Hey it is a Jeep right?

There are a few very small chips on the front edge of the front fenders

There are two paint chips on the driver’s side entry area hidden with the doors on

There are two small dings on the hood (no chips) that do not show in the pictures

There is one very small ding on the top of the driver’s side front fender

There are some small blisters in the paint on the cowl behind the hood in front of the windshield

There is a very small oil leak around the transmission oil pan

It has a new horn but it needs a new horn switch in the steering column. It works if the wheel is turned just right.

The indicator light for the four wheel drive is not hooked up

There is not a park brake put it is an automatic so no big deal

The glove box is fake and only a chrome door cover for looks

True miles on this Jeep are unknown. The Jeep shows 22K miles since the frame off restoration and build.

Sold As Is - NO WARRANTY

You also get a folder almost two inches thick of receipts, engine specs and owner’s manuals for the winch and carburetor.

We have owned three CJ’s and two Wranglers and have never had one this cool and so well done. With a short wheelbase, lifted, oversize tires and twice the stock horsepower this Jeep deserves respect. Having driven it now a couple of years I find it very easy and fun to drive. We call it our Go Cart! I ran it down I-40 two weeks ago for five miles both ways and kept up with all traffic easy in a 70 MPH speed zone and it tracked and handled GREAT. I added 3 degree shims under the front axle last year and it improved the steering considerably but on grooved two lane country roads it will wonder. On good smooth roads and highways she drives straight & easy.

The total investment to date on this Jeep exceeds $18,000.00. I have the reserve set a few thousand under that number. This Jeep is for sale locally for $16,500.00 and I reserve the option to end this auction immediately if the Jeep sells.

This is a very nice Jeep and I’m sure I have missed listing some of the options.

Clear North Carolina title in hand in my wife’s name.

Wrangler to remain in Toledo but Cherokee is slated to leave. I'm Mylencia Gillenwaters and this is your Autoblog Minute. According to a report from the Automotive News production of the Jeep Cherokee will be moved to another state. To fill the void, Jeep might develop a pickup that would be built alongside Wrangler at the Toledo, Ohio plant. A Wrangler pickup is an exciting prospect [00:00:30] for Jeep fans ever since the Jeep Gladiator concept was first introduced in 2005. Jeep officials declined to comment on its production and future vehicle development plans. We will most likely get an official statement from the automaker when they wrap up negotiations with the UAW. Leave us a comment below. Would you buy a Wrangler pickup? Why the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk really exists

Mon, Apr 17 2017

"But really, what do we do for Jeep? We listen to our customers, that's our job. We give them what they want. So the reason why is, they ask. Lots of them asked." – Darryl Smith "Why not?" It's a simple-enough explanation and one that should resonate with any car lover who views the absurd and the gloriously pointless as fundamental principles of their passion. And putting a ridiculously powerful engine into a vehicle that would normally not have one is perhaps the pinnacle of that. It's the reason that so many of us view a Mercedes-AMG E63 wagon as far cooler than an SLS AMG with roughly the same engine. With that in mind that we sat down with two of the men responsible for the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk, the latest entry into the absurd and gloriously pointless segment. We wanted to find out from Darryl Smith, director for SRT engineering, and Paul Mackiewicz, vehicle development manager, if there were actual market-based reasons for the Trackhawk's creation. Effectively, why'd they actually do it? "Why not?" Smith immediately offered during an interview at the New York Auto Show, clearly possessing a similar mindset. "But really, what do we do for Jeep? We listen to our customers, that's our job. We give them what they want. So the reason why is, they ask. Lots of them asked." View 24 Photos If "lots" of people are asking for a 707-horsepower, 645-pound-feet, off-road-capable, luxury-lined, five-person SUV, then perhaps we shouldn't be too worried about the demise of the human-driven automobile after all. "There is a very defined customer base out there that want a sport SUV," Mackiewicz said. "They want a sports car with the capabilities of having an SUV, of being able to tow, of being able to drive their sports car all year round. And that's what this car enables. It is ultimate performance, all year round, in any condition." If BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, and even Maserati can produce high-performance SUVs, doesn't it seem fitting that the father of all SUV brands should top them all under the hood? Of course, expanding the 6.2-liter Hellcat engine beyond the Challenger and Charger is clearly a smart business case in the current SUV-obsessed marketplace. FCA had a lust-worthy engine, and it had a solid performance base in the existing Grand Cherokee SRT, so it can be argued that marrying the two made sense and that it could be done with minimal fuss — even if in practical terms, it's absurd.

Jeep Yuntu three-row crossover spied testing on public roads

Tue, Jan 2 2018

Jeep is doing very well, especially compared to most other FCA brands. Still, there's a three-row sized hole in the automaker's lineup. In April 2017, the Jeep Yuntu made its debut at the Shanghai Auto Show. While that plug-in hybrid was just a concept, we now have a second set of spy shots showing that a road-going Yuntu is deep into development. Even with the black and white camouflage, there's no mistaking this for anything other than a Jeep. The new model looks like a larger Grand Cherokee with styling elements cribbed from the new Compass and refreshed Cherokee, though the profile unsurprisingly reminds us of the Dodge Durango (essentially a three-row Grand Cherokee). The thin headlights and taillights have made it over from the concept, though both are toned down for the production version. A three-row Jeep is all but officially confirmed for the US. The real question is what it will be called. We doubt Americans will fall head over heels for a American vehicle named the Yuntu. Reviving the Wagoneer or Grand Wagoneer nameplates seems far more likely. We can only speculate on powertrains, but considering the Yuntu concept was a plug-in hybrid, expect some flavor of electrification. Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party.
