1974 Jeep Cj5 Desert Tan Tons Of New Parts! on 2040-cars

Here is a 74 Jeep cj5. This vehicle was traded to me for labor on a 69 Land Rover. Since I specialize in Land Rover restoration I have no need for this Jeep. The previous owner had the jeep since 08 there is a recent invoice for about $1700 in parts and labor plus I added about $1800 worth of parts to get the jeep more presentable.
Body-
I recently repainted the body in desert tan, I liked this color as it gives the Jeep a very expedition/ military look. The paint job is very utilitarian and looks fine from about 10 feet away but there are small drilled holes dings, and roughly finished bondo work that is apparent close up. The old paint was scuffed and it was 2k urethane primed and top coated in desert tan acrylic enamel. The left fender, windshield frame, windshield frame gasket and driver side floor were all replaced with new units. There is bondo on the body which appeared sound so I painted over it. There is some rot on the passenger side under the body supports and on the bottom of the tailgate. The windshield has a crack and is not installed in the new windshield frame, a new windshield shouldn't be too expensive maybe $200 or so. The seats are the original and in great shape I added a new original style steering wheel and new speedo. The top is in ok condition there is a crack in the rear window and a small rip on the roof.
Engine/trans- The 6 cylinder engine runs great, it was being driven before but I have not road tested the jeep. It has a new starter, battery cables, starter solenoid, valve cover gasket, distributor cap, rotor, carburetor, throttle cable, voltage regulator, upper and lower hoses, radiator cap and full exhaust system. The heater core is leaking so it is disconnected it, the radiator has a small leak as well. There is also a new 20 gallon plastic fuel tank complete with skid plate and sending unit that is ready to install this was about $350. The transmission is a 3 speed and shifts fine with no obvious synchro or clutch problems.
Electrical-
The jeep has a painless wiring harness. The headlights, taillights, brake lights, turn signals, and heater blower motor all work. The jeep also has a new speedo assembly. The taillights and parking lights are new. The headlights, taillights, brake lights and turn signals all work, the horn does not.
Frame-
The frame has surface rust but no rot or repairs. The jeep has a lift but I am not sure how much probably 2.5'' the rear suspension is very stiff, I would recommend replacing it with something softer riding. The power brakes work good I added 2 new lines on the rear axle that were very corroded. The tires a re 31'' and have decent tread left.
Overall this is a functional Jeep that needs a bunch of finishing up work that can be easily accomplished by the new owner.
Connectiut does not issue titles for vehicles older than 1980, the Jeep is sold with a bill of sale and old registration only.

Stellantis reveals STLA Large platform with EV and ICE support
Fri, Jan 19 2024Hot on the heels of a Jeep Wagoneer S teaser and photos of the prototype next-generation Dodge Charger (or Challenger), comes a reveal and details of what will likely underpin both of them: the STLA Large platform. It's one of multiple Stellantis flexible architectures that will be the basis of its upcoming electric cars, and apparently internal combustion ones, too. Stellantis says the STLA Large platform will be for D- and E-segment cars, crossovers and SUVs. In other words, it will be for midsize and large vehicles. For reference, lengths supported will be from 187.6 to 201.8 inches, and width will range from 74.7 to 79.9 inches. It will be highly flexible, too, with Stellantis claiming significant amounts of adjustability in overhangs, wheelbase, suspension placement and powertrain arrangement. The powertrain flexibility is quite impressive. Front-, rear- and all-wheel-drive layouts will be supported. Single- and dual-motor layouts will be on offer. Internal combustion will be available, too, either on its own or as a hybrid. Apparently engines can be fitted either longitudinally or transversely, too. Battery packs with between 85 and 118 kWh of capacity will be offered, with Stellantis claiming that sedan-style vehicles could have a range of up to 500 miles. The packs will also be available in 400- and 800-volt designs. Stellantis noted also that the platform can "easily accept future energy storage technologies when they reach production readiness." This seems to hint that the company is looking at different battery chemistries and maybe even solid-state batteries that could be added more easily in the future. Furthermore, the platform is designed to handle impressive output. Stellantis says that some models on the platform will have 0-to-62 mph times in the 2-second range. Limited-slip differentials for improved power delivery and wheel-end disconnects for reduced mechanical drag are also on the table for this platform. All of these details fit well with the information previously given for the concept Dodge Charger Daytona Banshee and Jeep Wagoneer S. The former was previewed with both battery voltage architectures and a wide range of electric powertrains with between 456 and 670 horsepower depending on specification and upgrades. And that's just for the 400-volt system; the 800-volt option wasn't detailed. We've also seen photos of the Charger chassis seemingly with provisions for gas engines, likely versions of the Hurricane I6.
Fiat Chrysler's profit boosted by Ram and Jeep in North America
Wed, Jul 31 2019MILAN/DETROIT — Fiat Chrysler took the market by surprise by sticking to its full-year profit guidance on Wednesday after a strong performance from its Ram pickup truck in North America helped it defy an industry slowdown. Chief Executive Mike Manley, in FCA's first earnings release since a failed attempt to merge with France's Renault, also left the door open to that or other deals. "We are open to opportunity," Manley said on a call with analysts. "I have no doubt why there still would be interest in it," he added, when pressed on what it would take to revive talks with Renault. Manley declined to comment further. FCA last month abandoned its $35 billion merger offer for Renault, blaming French politics for scuttling what would have been a landmark deal to create the world's third-biggest automaker. Manley said a merger was not a must-have and Fiat Chrysler's business plan was strong. The company said it remained confident its adjusted earnings before interest and tax (EBIT) would top last year's 6.7 billion euros ($7.5 billion). Given disappointing forecasts from other automakers this earnings season, FCA's confirmation of the outlook sent Milan-listed shares in the Italian-American automaker, whose other brands include Jeep, up over 4%. A broad-based auto sales downturn has rattled the sector, forcing FCA's competitors — including Renault, Daimler and Aston Martin — to cut their sales forecasts after second-quarter results, while U.S. carmaker Ford gave a weaker-than-expected 2019 profit outlook. Japan's Nissan, a long-term partner of Renault, said it would cut 12,500 jobs by 2023 after its earnings collapsed. In the second quarter FCA's adjusted EBIT totaled 1.52 billion euros, versus analysts' expectations of 1.43 billion euros, according to a Reuters poll. FCA's U.S. shipments were down 12% in the second quarter but the group said that the successful performance of its Ram brand resulted in an enhanced share of the large pickup truck market of 27.9%, up 7 percentage points from last year. Adjusted EBIT margin in North America rose to 8.9% from 6.5% in the first quarter, thanks to strong demand for the heavy-duty Ram and the new Jeep Gladiator pickup. Chief Financial Officer Richard Palmer also said FCA expected to report up to 10% margins in the region in both the third and fourth quarters.
SEMA crowns Mustang, FR-S as this year's hottest cars in the building
Wed, 31 Oct 2012After wrapping up the first day of the 2012 SEMA Show, organizers handed out awards for some of the trendiest vehicles on display. Since the whole point of SEMA is to show off new products available in the aftermarket world for use in cars, trucks and SUVs, each year, the show distinguishes the most popular vehicle in various segments. Not surprisingly, this year's Hottest Car and Hottest Sport Compact are the Ford Mustang and Scion FR-S, respectively, while the Ford F-Series brought home the Hottest Truck and the Jeep Wrangler was named the Hottest 4x4-SUV.
More than 2,000 companies are at this year's show, and the display booths represents a "vote" for each car to determing the trendiest vehicles in each of the four categories. It isn't clear if these awards also take cars brought by OEMs into account, but the Mustang and FR-S were definitely well represented by both OEM and aftermarket show versions.
As usual, the OEMs showed up in force at the this year's SEMA Show exhibiting a variety of cars ranging from production-intent cars like the beastly Ford Mustang Cobra Jet to much flashier rides like Scion's Carbon Stealth FR-S.
