 1960 JAGUAR XK150 DHC

VIN: S8386XXDN

THERE ALMOST 80 HUGE IMAGES OF THIS DROP HEAD COUPE SHOWN BELOW!

DESCRIPTION:

This NO RESERVE auction is for a 1960 JAGUAR XK150 DROP HEAD COUPE. In all, only 2,672 DHCs were produced in the 150 bodies, and the coupes were more refined than the OTS versions. This car is a true SURVIVOR and we determined that it had only one owner prior to the current driver. The present owner purchased the car in 1968 (we show the bill of sale) and it has been in his care since that day. It was always garaged and used only on rare occasion. With additional due diligence, we can verify will full certainty that this IS a numbers matching car.

We carefully removed the tunnel for photos of the overdrive transmission number and we also show images of the frame number, engine number and cylinder head number as well (all numbers have deliberately been partially obscured to protect the integrity of this vehicle). There is also an image of the block showing the raised cast boss with the 3.8 Liter on it.

We were shocked that this JAGUAR appears to have only 42,310 actual miles. There is no smoke, noises or other gremlins present in the engine which rests in the nearly spotless engine bay. As a matter of fact, this engine starts right up, idles nicely and sounds fantastic! The clutch engages smoothly and the transmission shifts effortlessly. The special order dual exhaust system is loud indicating that repairs or replacement will be needed. These vehicles produced well over 200 horse power when fitted with the 3.8 liter engine with 9 to 1 compression ratio. The car actually passed the New York State's safety inspection in 2013.

In 1960, XK150s were nearing the end of  their production run, in October of that year. They would be replaced by the E-types. Surviving examples of these particular cars are scarce, and ones with options like the larger 3.8 Litre engine, dual exhaust and overdrive, are even rarer. The evolution also produced other refinements such as disc brakes on all 4 wheels which work much better than their drum brake equipped predecessors, and this car has a nice high, firm pedal. It also has rack and pinion steering which provided another big improvement in handling over the earlier XK versions. One piece windscreens replaced the split versions. Doors shut soundly and the windows roll up and down easily. Although this car can be driven, we wouldn't recommend a long journey as the tires are very old and it really should be sorted.

The leather interior is original, as is the carpeting, and both are very tired. Other noticed condition issues include some rust in the trunk area and others (shown), minor scrapes and dents typical of the exterior finish of an urban driven car. It looks better in the pictures than it does in person! The fabric on the Stay Fast top looks almost new and even the rear window is crystal clear. The windshield is fairly new. There is an abundance of additional general information about these Jaguars on the internet if you are looking for technical data or performance details. We didn't want to bog you down with useless details, considering that most people looking at this car will know infinitely more about it than we do.

The keys for the ignition, doors, boot and glove box are all original and are working. The gas gauge doesn't work and the horn is intermittent. There is a spare tire in the trunk with the jack and tools along with an owner's manual. There is also a very new looking wire wheel that will come with the car as well (shown). The winning bidder will get the bill of sale as well as many other receipts for work and maintenance performed over the years. Incidentally, the hood is alloy, and most of the bright work is decent. Some small bits are missing, but in the majority the car is very intact. We feel that this Jaguar deserves someone that really appreciates the integrity of the car.

As with all of our eBay Motors listings we try to let our high resolution photographs tell the story about the vehicles that we are selling. We have photo shots from many angles of the exterior, top up and down, engine bay, interior, trunk and undercarriage. If you study our clear multiple images very carefully, you will see exactly what this JAGUAR XK150 Drop Head Coupe is all about.

The clear images of this vehicle, shown below, will do a much better job of describing the look, style, condition and value of this vehicle than our words ever could. We invite questions and comments and there is NO RESERVE on this auction!

South African company builds the world's first armored Jaguar I-Pace

Mon, Nov 28 2022

When you think of armored cars, the presidential “Beast” limo and large SUVs likely come to mind. What you might not consider is that as the auto industry transforms itself to produce electric vehicles, weÂ’ll start seeing more armored EVs. A South African company has a leg up in this area with the release of the first armored Jaguar I-Pace. Armormax has offices around the globe, but its home base in South Africa is responsible for developing the armored SUV. Jaguar South Africa worked with the company to produce the I-Pace, and the work to add protection does not void or change the warranty. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings. Armoring a vehicle tends to add a ton of weight, but Armormax says the I-Pace takes advantage of its in-house materials. The company claims its protection material is the lightest in the world and notes the use of high-grade ballistic glass. The I-Pace offers a B4 ballistic protection rating, which covers handguns up to a .44 Magnum and shotguns. Armormax added run-flat tires and an external intercom system. We donÂ’t know if Armormax will offer the I-Pace outside of South Africa, but it likely wonÂ’t be cheap if it does. The U.S. I-Pace starts at more than $71,000, and thatÂ’s before buyers add any of ArmormaxÂ’s impressive upgrades. The company offers gas masks, ballistic riot shields, bomb blankets, and more. If Bond-villain features are your thing, Armormax will sell you smoke screen systems, electric-shock door handles, and a road tack dispensing system.

2017 Jaguar F-Pace First Drive

Tue, May 3 2016

We know what you're thinking, and we tend to agree: The world probably doesn't need another crossover. But premium European automakers keep building them because people keep buying them. Before we even got behind the wheel of the 2017 F-Pace, we knew that it would be Jaguar's best-selling model by year's end. Now that we've driven the brand's first crossover, it's apparent that there is more to the F-Pace than future sales success. This is a real Jaguar. It would have been easy for Jaguar to borrow a platform from corporate sibling Land Rover. Instead, Jaguar's engineers decided to chart their own course, starting with the aluminum underpinnings of the XE sedan. As it turns out, that was a brilliant decision. The F-Pace looks and drives like a proper Jaguar, but it has some surprises hiding under its shapely sheetmetal that make it the most practical vehicle the brand has ever offered. The F-Pace sports a familiar face, with a voluminous chrome-ringed grille flanked by twin air intakes that are almost as large. Long horizontal headlamps flow into the fenders, and just behind the front wheels sit additional vents that are the only extraneous bit of styling flair on the entire vehicle. The overall look is smooth and taut, with lots of surface tension along the car's bodysides. Not that Jaguar would have done it, but we're glad this is not an overwrought Lexus RX clone. The F-Pace's proportions emphasize the chassis' rear-drive roots, although Jaguar will only sell the crossover with all-wheel drive in the US. By default, 90 percent of engine torque is routed to the rear wheels, and that can drop to as little as 10 percent as dictated by available traction. While the good old KISS acronym applies to the car's styling, it applies equally well to the driving dynamics with one slight modification: keep it sporty, stupid. A rigid aluminum chassis – it would be all-aluminum if the rear floor weren't steel to ensure proper 50/50 weight distribution – is derived from the same architecture as the XE sedan, rejiggered to sit higher off the ground and allow for greater suspension travel. As you'd expect, the F-Pace drives a heck of a lot like a sport sedan, only giving up the illusion if you notice how high you're sitting from the road. Jaguar has nailed the driving dynamics of the F-Pace. Steering is linear and, in Dynamic mode, perfectly damped. The ride on models equipped with adaptive suspension is firm and controlled, even with massive 22-inch wheels fitted.

2019 Jaguar F-Pace SVR First Drive Review | Magnificent beast

Tue, Apr 23 2019

ST. TROPEZ, France — Summarizing a new car in just two words is a wicked challenge, but here goes: Magnificent beast. That's the nickname Jaguar's engineering team gave the 2019 F-Pace SVR, and ... spoiler alert ... it's actually a damn fine descriptor for the 550-horsepower sport ute. The hot-rod SUV genre has been endlessly expanding, pioneered by the likes of the Porsche Cayenne. Recent contenders like the Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio and Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 keep the competition on its toes by busting Nurburgring Nordschleife lap records that shamed supercars from just a few years ago. The Jaguar F-Pace SVR arrives a tad late to the high-speed party. Previously available with as much as 380 horsepower from a supercharged V6, the new SVR plays ball packing a 5.0-liter V8 beneath its vented hood. The supercharged mill punches 550 hp and 502 lb-ft through an eight-speed ZF automatic. Power is routed to all four wheels, naturally, but the SVR is also the first F-Pace to get torque vectoring thanks to an electronically controlled rear differential. Also aiding the F-Pace through the corners are stiffer springs, reprogrammed adaptive Bilstein dampers, 12-inch forged aluminum wheels and a brake-based torque vectoring system. Additional go-fast goodies include lift-reducing aero, better engine ventilation, and larger four-piston front and two-piston rear ventilated brakes housed in larger 21-inch wheels. The F-Pace SVR's cabin offers more sporty austerity than before. Slimmer, supportive 10-way adjustable seats echo the SUV's more focused road manners, as do aggressive color schemes, contrast stitching, and a suede headliner. Small touches also signal the sharper edges, including an F-Type-derived shifter in place of the mediocre rotary gear selector. It doesn't inherit Jaguar's latest dual-screen infotainment system, updated steering wheel, or second-gen heads up display, as does the recently updated XE sedan. The F-Pace SVR shares a similar tune to the 575-hp F-Type SVR, but the SUV's V8 fires up with a milder bark. A new exhaust valve adjusts its butterfly valves gradually, avoiding the "light switch" transition from quiet to loud. And speaking of loud, while the blarty exhaust note isn't as in-your-face as some of Jaguar's more vocal models, U.S. versions might be slightly raspier since the European model I was driving was equipped with a gasoline particulate filter that has a slight muffling effect.
