Offering for bids a 1953 Jaguar XK120 Drop Head Coupe that has been restored to a solid original features driver. The car was obtained from an estate in Savannah, Georgia several years ago and has undergone a body off frame up rebuild/restore of all mechanical components including steering, bushings, suspension, brakes, shocks, etc. It is an all numbers matching car as verified by British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certification. This will be included with the sale. The engine runs strong with good compression and the transmission and clutch are all in sound condition and have not been rebuilt internally. Necessary gaskets and seals have been renewed. Porcelain coated exhaust manifolds and stainless steel exhaust system all new. Complete new wiring harness installed. When obtained the body was in exceptional condition considering it had been in storage for approximately 40 years. New sills and floor pans as well as shut panels installed. Door hinges new as well. Door internals rebuilt as needed and are solid and strong. Other body repair work and replacement of metals was performed to original manufacture specifications. All instruments are restored to new as original condition and operate reliably. The mileage stated is based on the original odometer reading when obtained. The odometer now shows 384 miles since rebuilt. Bookend matching burl walnut dash restored as original. Hartzz canvas stayfast top is fawn color with headliner as original. Red leather seat upholstery hand sewn and professionally installed. The pictures show the rest of the condition and additional pictures are available upon request. This Jaguar is located in Tampa, Florida and is available for delivery throughout the United States. Shipping arrangements can be made for delivery internationally and I will be happy to assist the successful foreign or overseas bidder with those arrangements. A $1000 down payment is required of the successful bidder within 48 hours of the auction listing end. Balance of funds to be made in cash (in person), by electronic transfer, or upon presentation and clearance of a certified check through my account. The car will not be released for shipment or delivery until paid in full with funds in my account. A modest reserve bid amount has been set that is consistent with the current mid-value range of this particular make and model, leaving room for immediate and continued appreciation in value for the new owner. Personal inspection can be arranged by calling 607-349-5889. I have described this car after 14 years of ownership and hands on restoration to the best of my ability. However bidders should rely on their own interpretation and examination of this automobile including an inspection at their own expense prior to bidding. Questions will be answered openly and honestly.
Thanks for looking! On Jan-25-14 at 08:23:05 PST, seller added the following information: This car is listed locally for sale and I reserve the right to cancel this auction listing if the vehicle is sold prior to the close of bidding. On Jan-27-14 at 09:07:29 PST, seller added the following information: Something I forgot to mention: During the restoration process one accumulates an overflow of extra bits and parts and there are boxes of spares that will be included with the car. This includes an extra set of cam cover gaskets, various grommets and clips, extra bulbs for the interior light over the rear window, bulbs for the boot light, fasteners, and other parts of interest. Also, the rear spring gaiters are not installed but are brand new and will be included. The springs are new and I just didn't want to cover them up. All of the clips for the tools that mount in the boot, although only the spat removal tool is available and plugs for the jack, etc. |

$4.5M Maryland mansion has a brick street with classic cars in its basement
Sun, May 31 2020At one extremely large residence in Potomac, Maryland, the residents need not call the driver to head into town. Instead, the people who lived and will live in this house can simply take a walk downstairs to hit up the post office, or the theater, or the massage parlor. These faux shops are just a small part of a re-created old-style downtown strip, complete with a brick drive and classic collector cars. Brought to light by Twitter user @victoriaxxviii, 11610 Highland Farm Road, Potomac, Maryland, is a 12,089-square-foot gated mansion that sits on four acres, with the opportunity to buy two more next to it. It has seven bedrooms and eight bathrooms in the main house, a guest house with two bedrooms and a bathroom, and a pool house with a full kitchen and a bathroom. The place also has a heated pool and a tennis court. Yet, none of that would be of interest if not for the items hidden in the home's finished basement. Best understood by seeing the photos above, the lower level of the house was built to resemble an old town. In addition to the aforementioned stores, it also has a sports shop, a flower shop, an inn, a tattoo parlor, a church, and most important, an auto repair shop and gas station. The repair shop is key, as there are several collectible cars positioned throughout the winding town road. Seen in the photos are a Citroen 2CV, a Jaguar E-Type roadster, a scooter, and a third vintage car that appears to be from the '20s or '30s. The house was built in 1987 and features four garage spots. It is currently listed for $4.5 million, but it is unclear if the downstairs cars are included in the purchase. Visit Washington Fine Properties for more photos of the house and extra information about its amenities. Related Video:  Â
The 200-mph Jaguar F-Type SVR is coming to Geneva
Wed, Jan 27 2016Jaguar has good news for us: The new F-Type SVR will make its grand debut at March's Geneva Motor Show. Following up on leaked stats from last week, Jag confirms the hardtop F-Type SVR will be capable of hitting 200 miles per hour. The British brand doesn't go much further in confirming other details from last week's report, though. So even though the top end's extra 14 mph has to come from somewhere, we still can't be certain it'll be thanks to a reported 567 horsepower or 516 pound-feet of torque. Jag also won't yet confirm the reported claim of a 3.7-second sprint to 62 mph. What the company is saying, though, is that its first SVR-badged model will be "lighter, faster, and more powerful." JLR's Special Operations boss, John Edwards, calls the new SVR an "all-weather supercar." That lends credence to initial reports that the hottest F-Type will send its power to all four wheels. While the F-Type SVR will hit the Geneva stage on March 1, we won't be waiting that long for all the details – Jaguar will release a complete array of images and details on February 17. We'll have more then. 200MPH JAGUAR F-TYPE SVR TO MAKE GLOBAL DEBUT AT 2016 GENEVA MOTOR SHOW (MAHWAH, N.J.) – January 26, 2016 - The new 2017 Jaguar F-TYPE SVR will make its global debut at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show on March 1, 2016 and will go on sale in summer 2016. Capable of accelerating to 200mph, the new F-TYPE SVR is the first Jaguar to wear the SVR badge and is developed to exploit the two-seat aluminum sports car's full potential while retaining its day-to-day usability. Lighter, faster and more powerful, the new F-TYPE SVR takes performance, dynamics and driver involvement to a new level yet retains the comfort and duality of character inherent to all Jaguar cars. "The new F-TYPE SVR is the first series production Jaguar car to be developed by Special Vehicle Operations and benefits from everything we know about precision engineering, performance and design," said John Edwards, Managing Director, Jaguar Land Rover Special Operations. "The result is a 200mph, all-weather supercar that you can drive every day – we even made a Convertible version so that enthusiasts can revel in the sound from the new titanium exhaust system." The new F-TYPE SVR will join the 2017 Model Year F-TYPE Coupe and Convertible range comprising of the F-TYPE, F-TYPE Premium, F-TYPE S, F-TYPE British Design Edition and F-TYPE R.
Never-was Jaguar C-X75 hybrid supercar driven by Autocar
Mon, 24 Jun 2013There's lucky, and then there's "I got to drive the Jaguar C-X75." The crew from Autocar is among the handful of souls who can honestly make the latter statement. Jaguar invited the publication down for a little time in both the passenger and driver seats around the automaker's proving grounds. While there's no end to the jealousy oozing from our pores, the good news is that there were a few cameras on hand to capture the experience. As you may recollect, the C-X75 Concept was a unique hybrid supercar concept built to duke it out with the likes of the Ferrari LaFerrari, Porsche 918 and the McLaren P1. The British automaker put it on track for production, but unfortunately stopped the project about six months ago.
With a twincharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine capable of revving to 10,000 rpm, the C-X75 concept yields 502 horsepower and gets partnered with four electric motors - one at each wheels. A 19kWh lithium-ion battery pack serves up 300kW of power, and combined, the motors and battery are capable of yielding an additional 194 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. Combined, the driveline is good for more than 850 horsepower and 738 pound-feet of torque. Said another way, the C-X75 will do the 0-60 miles per hour dance in under three seconds.
And Autocar got to drive it. You can watch the video for yourself by scrolling below.
