1986 Jaguar Xjs 2-door Green Coupe No Reserve! V12 For Restoration Or Parts on 2040-cars
Southington, Connecticut, United States
Up for auction is a 1986 Jaguar XJS 2-door coupe, It has the 5.3L V-12 HE engine and GM 400 automatic transmission. This was a daily driver until following a head rebuild due to a dropped valve seat one bank of the engine quit. The ECU was sent out for a check/rebuild but did not fix the problem and I suspect the timing chain tensioner is the culprit. I intended to get into it but never did and it's been sitting on an asphalt driveway for a while. It has high miles but synthetic oil was used and changed faithfully. At the time of the headwork 1 or 2 thousand miles earlier the shop mentioned how remarkably clean the internals were. The AC was retrofitted to R134 and the compressor replaced with a rebuild that has low miles on it. The radiator had also been replaced with a new one. The tires were also recently new at the time and still have plenty of good tread on them. While it was sitting in the repair shop's lot someone helped himself to a few parts. A wiper arm, headlight reflector and center emblems of the wheels were noticed missing. Front seats are worn in the typical places. The laquer on the wood trim is cracked and/or peeling in multiple places but the underlying wood appears good. There is rust in the floor pans, trunk and trunk lid edges and on the left fender. I've done my best to accurately show the known flaws in the pictures. This vehicle is being auctioned AS IS with no guarantees expressed or implied. If you have any additional questions or would like additional pictures, or to arrange a viewing please contact me and I'll do my best to accommodate you. PLEASE BID ONLY IF YOU INTEND TO PURCHASE AND PICK UP THE CAR WITHIN 14 DAYS. $499.00 deposit is required via Pay Pal within 24 hours of the end of the auction. I'll also accept cash or a bank certified check from the U.S. Please make your financial arrangements ahead of time. Please note, I need the space freed in my driveway to work on other projects that are being held up. Arrangement and cost of transporting the vehicle is the buyer's responsibility. Please contact me at the auction close to arrange a time. The winning bidder must arrange to have the vehicle picked-up at their expense within 14 DAYS OF THE AUCTION CLOSE or forfeit the deposit. If there's an extreme condition preventing it contact me and I'll do my best to work with you.

2016 Jaguar XE pounces on the Parisian port
Thu, 02 Oct 2014It's been about five years since Jaguar discontinued the misguided X-Type and exited the compact luxury sedan market, but today marks the British automaker's re-entry into the segment with the public debut of the all-new XE.
Pitted against the likes of the BMW 3 Series and Mercedes-Benz C-Class, the new Jaguar XE is based on an all-new aluminum architecture that will underpin many new felines to follow, and packs a new family of four-cylinder engines. That is, aside from the range-topping XE S pictured above, with the super-six borrowed from the F-Type.
Conservatively styled but elegant and uniquely Jaguar, the XE isn't set to arrive Stateside until 2016. So unless you're planning a trip overseas (with a stop at a Jaguar showroom on the itinerary), our gallery of live shots from the floor of the Paris Motor Show here at the Porte de Versailles may be the best look you'll be getting at Coventry's latest for the next couple of years.
Jaguar could still revive XK as luxury grand tourer
Tue, Dec 9 2014With the F-Type taking the lion's – or Jaguar's – share of attention lately, it would be all too easy to forget all about a Jag once known as the XK. But it existed, and it could once again. First introduced in 1996 as the XK8 to replace the old XJS, the XK survived for two generations. It was available as a 2+2 coupe or convertible and was powered by Jaguar's signature AJ-V8 engine. By the time it was discontinued just this past summer, the ultimate XKR-S packed as much as 542 horsepower. But though it had two more seats, the XK was rendered largely obsolete by the arrival of the nimbler, newer and arguably more stylish F-Type. According to Autocar, however, the XK could be reinstated with a more GT-like approach. The XK as we've known it, said Jaguar's Ross Varney to the British weekly, "straddled the GT and sports car segment, with more of an emphasis on the GT side but probably not enough." Varney was in charge of the F-Type project and was also responsible for a new project to replace the XK until it was shut down earlier this year. "We have plans to do lots more with the F-Type," said Varney, "but there will still be other areas we want to cover. We need to find the right way to deliver on them, and the XK could be one way of doing that." What Varney is saying, essentially, is that while the XK project may not be moving forward just yet, it could be revived in the near future. If it did, we'd be looking at a more accommodating and luxurious grand tourer, different from the F-Type that's more of a focused sports car. Think of it, then, as more of a Bentley Continental GT, but probably less expensive - or put another way, if the F-Type is a junior Aston Martin V8 Vantage, the new XK would be a (relatively) more accessible DB9. The intel sounds similar to what we heard when the most recent XK was being put out to pasture, but tells us that hope is still alive for those interested in a two-door Jag with room for the kids in the back.
GM, Audi, Jaguar halt Russian sales amidst ruble's collapse
Fri, Dec 19 2014The value of Russia's ruble currency has sunk like a stone tossed in the Volga for much of the year, losing over 40 percent of its worth since June. The change is having bizarre effects on the auto industry there and leaving some automakers scrambling to adjust. According to Bloomberg, Russians are buying up luxury goods including automobiles at the moment to have a physical investment in case the ruble sinks further. However, with the money worth so little, the companies aren't making much from these transactions. Things are so dire that several automakers are temporarily ending deliveries until the situation stabilizes. According to Bloomberg, General Motors stopped sales on December 16 with no set date to start again. Audi did the same thing but with the intention to resume once it has adjusted model pricing. Jaguar Land Rover terminated business until December 19 to see how things changed. Toyota is increasing its pricing, as well, but keeping business open at the same time. Some automakers have subtly been reacting to the slumping Russian auto market all year. The moves have included Volkswagen cutting production by 30,000 units from its factory in Kaluga. Ford also got rid of 950 workers from two plants due to low demand. Some analysts have even speculated that the contracting industry and possibility of lower import duties into the country could cause companies to end their manufacturing in Russia completely.
