                                                1983 Jaguar XJS

1983 Jaguar XJS with a 1971 either Corvette or Camaro motor! I looked up the block numbers and was able to narrow it down to 1971. This thing runs great! Looks killer and is a pretty cool car for sure! It is however not without it's issues. I will list all the pluses and things I found that need attended to below.

Rebuilt 1971 chevrolet 350 motor that was installed in the car before I bought it. No abnormal noises, runs like a top and is either a Corvette or Camaro motor. It has vintage Corvette valve covers on it, with the T-bolt handles to bolt the valve covers down. The valve covers alone are super rare! Edelbrock intake manifold, performer series. Four barrel carb, either a Holly or an Edelbrock. I forgot to look. Intake is vintage style with the oil filler tube in the front going into the front of the intake.

Stock ram horn exhaust manifolds.

HEI electronic ignition.

Rebuilt transmission. Shifts fine with no issues.

I have no idea how many miles are on the rebuild or the conversion. What I do know is the motor has no abnormal noises, doesn't smoke, fires right up, and the transmission has no issues either.

This combo was installed using a "jag conversion" kit. It was all done right and the conversion poses no issues. It looks, runs, and handles like it's always been there!

AC works.

75% tire tread left. Tires look practically new.

Rims are in good shape but could use re-chromed.

Paint is starting to show some paint bubbling in places, I took pictures close up to show examples and has some chipping right below the rear window on both sides. There is a rust through spot right behind the driver's seat along the ridge/edge. There is a picture below in the description section of this. Looks to have been repainted the factory color near as I can tell. Pretty sure the grill on these were not painted at the factory and there is over spray on the mufflers. Paint could use buffing out or a re-paint with body work to fix the bubbling. This is common on these older Jags. They are prone to it.

Rear suspension looks to be solid.

Rear brakes need attention. Needs new calipers. They are working but not anything like they should. The front brakes work but without the rear brakes working 100% it takes some leg power to haul it down.

Car could use a tune-up but runs great! Look at the video below also.

Seats need recovered. They have leather seat covers on them. Original leather in very poor condition. The laminate clear coat on the wood on the dash needs redone. Dash top has a crack. Car has an aftermarket sunroof installed with the pull across sun shields.

Speedo not hooked up, but the tach works fine. Gas gauge is not working. The "parking brake" light is on as the rear brakes need some work and there is one "dummy" light lit. I have searched around to see what could be "tripping" it.

Don't miss out on an opportunity to buy a killer sports car with a vintage hotrod motor! best of both worlds! Hard to let this one go believe me!

Jaguar Land Rover names new manufacturing chief for EV transformation

Thu, May 3 2018

LONDON — Britain's biggest carmaker Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) is replacing its director for manufacturing as it prepares its plants for an electrified future, the firm said on Thursday. JLR operates three factories in its home market but is building its first electric car, the I-PACE, in Austria. The Indian-owned automaker's Chief Executive Ralf Speth told Reuters earlier this year he is waiting for more information on trading conditions after Brexit before he decides whether to make electric cars in Britain. On Thursday, he said Executive Director for Manufacturing Wolfgang Stadler is retiring from the business, to be replaced by Director of Quality and Automotive Safety Grant McPherson starting July 1. "He will oversee the ongoing investment into our UK and global manufacturing, transforming our plants to enable Jaguar Land Rover's exciting electrified future," Speth said. Jaguar Land Rover will electrify all new models after 2020 — and maybe some old ones

Thu, Sep 7 2017

Just as Volvo did earlier this year, Jaguar and Land Rover announced a date after which all new models introduced will be electrified. That date is 2020, a year after Volvo, and JLR's definition of electrification is very similar to Volvo's, including full electrics, plug-in hybrids, and mild hybrids. Whether the British automaker's mild hybrids will be something like the 48-volt start-stop function on the Audi A8 or a more conventional hybrid has yet to be announced. Regardless, internal combustion engines won't disappear from the Jaguar and Land Rover lineups yet, and there's still a couple of years before the start date for the companies to sneak in a fully gasoline or diesel model if they wish. And on the flip side, there's nothing stopping the companies from releasing EVs or hybrids before the start date, which is exactly what Jaguar is doing with the I-Pace. Jaguar reiterated that the electric crossover will go on sale in 2018. View 11 Photos Jaguar specifically isn't just looking at electrifying future cars, but also possibly classic cars. Jaguar Land Rover Classic revealed its fully electric E-Type concept. The vintage car department took a first-generation model and created a battery pack and electric powertrain that could fit in the car, leaving as much original as possible, including the way it drives. The battery pack and motor are mounted up front, with power sent to the rear, and they weigh roughly the same and fill roughly the same space as the old straight-six engine. This keeps weight distribution the same, makes packaging easy, and should keep the driving experience roughly the same as the old car — though the electrified version is faster. Jaguar claims a 0-62 mph time of 5.5 seconds, which is about a second quicker than the gas-powered model. It also has a range of 170 miles and a charging time of around 6 to 7 hours. Other changes include an updated interior with touchscreen infotainment, carbon fiber dash, and LCD instruments. Jaguar said this electric conversion is just a concept right now, which could be just as well. We're not sure many E-Type owners would line up to replace their old six- and 12-cylinder engines. After all, part of the appeal of those cars is the sound of the engine, and stirring a manual gearbox.

Your guide to vehicle subscription services

Mon, Oct 1 2018

They might be extremely limited in scope because of location availability, but vehicle subscription services are a growing trend that most luxury manufacturers are jumping on. Plans are expensive, but you're paying for much more than just the car typically. We highlighted four of the larger plans with a few more listed at the end. Care by Volvo Volvo launched its subscription service last year with its brand-new XC40. It was the only vehicle available for a time, but subscribers can now get an S60 sedan as well. Subscriptions are for two years, with the monthly price including insurance, a concierge service, wear-and-tear item replacements and all maintenance. You'll be able to drive 15,000 miles per year with whichever Volvo you choose, and although there are no options to extend that mileage, you can swap cars after a year. Pricing for the XC40 is $650 per month in base trim, while an S60 can be as expensive as $850 for the R-Design. Volvo's plan is to offer more cars soon through the service, but it's relatively limited compared to others right now. Porsche Passport Porsche has two levels in its subscription service: Launch and Accelerate. Launch will cost $2,000 per month and give you access to the Cayman, Boxster, Macan and Cayenne. All of those but the Cayenne can be had in "S" trim as well. Accelerate is where the fun really starts. For $3,000 per month you can choose from a fleet of 911s, including the S, 4S, Cabriolet and Cabriolet S. If those aren't enough, you can also get the Panamera 4S, Macan GTS and Cayenne S. There are no mileage limits and you can change vehicles as often as you'd like. Also included in the price is insurance, repairs, detailing and any maintenance. It might be extremely expensive and limited to Atlanta only, but this subscription service is second-to-none for what you get. Audi Select Audi just launched its subscription car service, and it's offered in one version for a flat fee of $1,395 per month. For that you'll have access to five different cars including the A4, S5 Coupe, A5 Cabriolet, Q5, and Q7. Not a bad range of vehicles, but it would've been neat to see the recently updated A7 in there too. Maybe in time. Like the others, insurance and maintenance are wrapped up in the price. Audi is allowing for unlimited miles and two car swaps per month here. In addition to that, you'll get two days of free rentals through Audi's Silvercar rental agency should you go on a trip.
