Paint is 2 years old, great shape and the original color, but not the most expensive paint job. The car presents well, drives well and has had regular maintenance and low mileage since the engine was replaced, using a kit from John's Cars in Dallas. It's an Arizona car with no rust or damage history and garaged since new. The chassis has 143k miles and the engine has about 30k since overhaul. The interior looks good but some threads showing on the passenger seat. Rear seat is worn and covered. The headliner has been replaced. The tires look good with lots of tread, but are several years old and I wouldn't recommend highway speeds or long drives. I haven't driven it much over the past two years but have kept the battery up and run it around the block about every two weeks."

This car runs strong and quiet.  It handles well and looks great with its classic design.   This vehicle has an air pump on the engine and catalytic converters on the exhaust, letting it pass Arizona emission inspections.  The 700R hydromatic transmission was from a Firebird and was rebuilt with a shift kit added, prior to instillation.   The engine was rebuilt and a 3/4 race cam and 4 bbl carburetor added at that time, along with electronic ignition.  It's easy to work on with a domestic engine, drivetrain, power steering and AC compressor.   The air conditioning is R134A and blows cold and the ride is firm, quiet and comfortable.   I have taken great care of this vehicle, but need to sell it for more garage space for other projects.  I will include factory service/repair manuals and the instructions/literature from the engine exchange.  There are no guarantees or warranties on this vehicle. It is sold as is with a clear title.   I would be happy to answer any questions .

Jaguar C-X75 production run canceled

Tue, 11 Dec 2012

"We feel we could make the car work, but looking at the global austerity measures in place now, it seems the wrong time to launch an 800,000-pound to 1 million-pound supercar."
Those words are from Jaguar Global Brand Director Adrian Hallmark, and as true as they may be, it still stings a little bit. After all, we've been looking forward to the Jaguar C-X75 ever since word came from Jolly Olde that it was green-lit for a short production run.
Some of the cool bits and pieces the world will now be without: a powerful but relatively miserly 1.6-liter turbocharged and supercharged four-cylinder engine, two electric motors driving all four wheels and a carbon fiber chassis developed by Williams F1. Sigh.

The UK votes for Brexit and it will impact automakers

Fri, Jun 24 2016

It's the first morning after the United Kingdom voted for what's become known as Brexit – that is, to leave the European Union and its tariff-free internal market. Now begins a two-year process in which the UK will have to negotiate with the rest of the EU trading bloc, which is its largest export market, about many things. One of them may be tariffs, and that could severely impact any automaker that builds cars in the UK. This doesn't just mean companies that you think of as British, like Mini and Jaguar. Both of those automakers are owned by foreign companies, incidentally. Mini and Rolls-Royce are owned by BMW, Jaguar and Land Rover by Tata Motors of India, and Bentley by the VW Group. Many other automakers produce cars in the UK for sale within that country and also export to the EU. Tariffs could damage the profits of each of these companies, and perhaps cause them to shift manufacturing out of the UK, significantly damaging the country's resurgent manufacturing industry. Autonews Europe dug up some interesting numbers on that last point. Nissan, the country's second-largest auto producer, builds 475k or so cars in the UK but the vast majority are sent abroad. Toyota built 190k cars last year in Britain, of which 75 percent went to the EU and just 10 percent were sold in the country. Investors are skittish at the news. The value of the pound sterling has plummeted by 8 percent as of this writing, at one point yesterday reaching levels not seen since 1985. Shares at Tata Motors, which counts Jaguar and Land Rover as bright jewels in its portfolio, were off by nearly 12 percent according to Autonews Europe. So what happens next? No one's terribly sure, although the feeling seems to be that the jilted EU will impost tariffs of up to 10 percent on UK exports. It's likely that the UK will reciprocate, and thus it'll be more expensive to buy a European-made car in the UK. Both situations will likely negatively affect the country, as both production of new cars and sales to UK consumers will both fall. Evercore Automotive Research figures the combined damage will be roughly $9b in lost profits to automakers, and an as-of-yet unquantified impact on auto production jobs. Perhaps the EU's leaders in Brussels will be in a better mood in two years, and the process won't devolve into a trade war. In the immediate wake of the Brexit vote, though, the mood is grim, the EU leadership is angry, and investors are spooked.

Jay Leno drives the Jaguar F-Type Project 7

Tue, Sep 22 2015

Even for Jay Leno, Monterey Car Week is a special experience. After all, his collection is absolutely massive, but vehicles show up for this exclusive event on the California peninsula that even Jay doesn't know about. He's giving us a just a tiny taste of this year's event in the latest episode of Jay Leno's Garage. The majority of this clip is dedicated to an in-depth look at the Jaguar F-Type Project 7, and Jay gets the details direct from designer Ian Callum. The two of them are old friends after doing the 2014 Mille Miglia together in a Jaguar XK120. After getting a mountain of info about the inspiration behind this special F-Type, they go for a ride on some beautiful California roads to listen to the wonderful, crackling exhaust. Following the drive, Jay finds a racecar from the teens that he is completely unfamiliar with. Thankfully, the mechanic is nearby to shed some light on this rarity. We hope there're more videos to come about Leno's visit to Monterey Car Week, but hopefully his team can fix some of the sound issues in this clip.
