Last of the breed! The 1996 Vanden Plas was one of the last true Jaguars. This model is fully optioned including the extended wheelbase. British racing green and tan; classic Jaguar!
This is a Canadian vehicle so the odometer is in Kilometres; 218 351= 135 677 miles. The car is in very nice original condition. Not a show car, but very nice. This is one owner car, passed down into the family. The tan leather is nice condition with no tears. The original paint still has a brilliant shine. The only known body work was to the lower back dog leg section. Some minor scratches, but no dents. The cylinder head has just been replaced. I purchased a brand new, fully complete Jaguar OEM head in a crate from Engel imports in Michigan. The motor runs perfectly and there are no warning lights present. Other recent parts include muffler, cam position sensor, sway bar links and rear fuel lines. The Michelin tires have lots of tread remaining. The only known issues are: cracked windshield, A/C condensor and sunroof is inoperable. Please feel free to ask questions. I can help with shipping arrangements. Jaguar's XFR-S Sportbrake looks to be one hot kinschlepper
Tue, 23 Jul 2013This is the Jaguar XFR-S Sportbrake, which is too cool for North American sale (the Sportbrake, not the XFR-S sedan, which we're getting soon). Like the XFR-S four-door, it has a 5.0-liter, supercharged V8 pumping out around 550 horsepower.
Our spy photographer's x-ray vision is saying that a ZF eight-speed automatic will be the gearbox of choice for the XFR-S wagon, which fits with the sedan, as well. The Sportbrake also has the usual high-performance touches, with huge air intakes in the front fascia, big wheels wrapped in low-profile tires, a dropped suspension and a rear end that's wearing a diffuser and a pair of meaty, quad exhausts. We're happy to see that the XFR-S Sedan's rear spoiler - or some iteration thereof - isn't here to mangle the Sportbrake's beautiful shape.
Where the this super-fast hauler will debut remains a question. There's virtually zero chance of it arriving at an American auto show (although we do endorse that, and any other decision that brings this wagon to our shores), which likely means it'll be in Europe. The Frankfurt Motor Show and Geneva Motor Show seem like the leading contenders, but we'll just have to wait and see.
Jaguar lets first outsiders drive new F-Type
Mon, 17 Dec 2012What do you do when you're an automaker with an all-new and brand-defining sports car, one of them with a supercharged V8 cranking out 495 horsepower? You let proven race drivers test them out on track and on the road.
And what do you do if you're Jaguar and you're in that situation? Why, naturally, you make a video of it. That's how we get footage of racers Martin Brundle, Justin Bell and Christian Danner being choppered into the UK's Snetterton track to test the V6-equipped Jaguar F-Type S prototype. Then when they're finished with kerb-lined apexes, they take the V8 S prototype out onto the roads to run it through hedge-lined apexes.
According to one of them, "very fast, very nimble, great engine" is what will soon be headed our way. Check it out in the video below.
Jaguar has something special planned for Goodwood
Mon, 23 Jun 2014It's been barely a week since JLR announced its new Special Operations division, dedicated to creating limited-run halo cars and custom creations for both the Jaguar and Land Rover brands. Now the British automaker has confirmed the debut of the division's first project.
We don't know what it is, exactly, that Jaguar will be bringing to the Goodwood Festival of Speed later this week, but we bet it'll be exciting. If we were the betting kind, we'd put our money on some kind of hot-rod F-Type, but we'll just have to wait and see.
Alongside whatever JLR Special Operations has got cooking, Coventry will also be bringing the new F-Type R Coupe and XFR-S Sportbrake to run up the hill alongside a whole slew of classic and racing Jaguars, including a pair of D-Types, a Group 44 E-Type, a Group A XJS and the reunion of XJR-9 and Andy Wallace that last saw each other on the top step of the podium at Le Mans in 1988.
