1981 Jaguar Xj6 Base Sedan 4-door 4.2l No Reserve on 2040-cars
Glens Falls, New York, United States

For auction is a 1981 Jaguar XJ6. I bought this car about a year ago and have driven it up to a month ago. Car all of a sudden quit. The car had been running very nicely previously. I have tried to figure out the issue with no luck. Have replaced numerous relays and fuel pump. Cleaned grounds, electrical connections to no avail and replaced coil.. Car has fuel and spark. Power to the injectors, but doesn't seem to be activating injectors. Car starts briefly with ether. I am at my wits end with it and have spent enough time and money. Any mechanical suggestions would be welcome. I truly believe it is something relatively simple, but if you're familiar with Jaguars, you know they can be difficult. I am letting it go for a fraction of my investment. My loss is your gain. Car has current NYS inspection sticker. I have a clear title in hand. Car will have to be transported. I believe the car actually has 138k miles but does not show the digit on odometer. The GOOD: As stated the car ran well previously. No smoke or leaks. Transmission and drivetrain worked as they should. Brake are in good operating condition. Tires are matched Michelins with 50-60% tread. Car's interior was redone previously. Upolstery is in very nice condition. Exterior paint has good finish.Accesories all work except stated below. Done recently: New Battery,Spark plugs, distributor cap and rotor, fuel and air filters, resonators from the cats back, sway bar link and bushings. I have maintenance folder from previous own, who owned car for years. It's about an inch thick. This guy didn't overlook anything. The NOT SO GOOD: The car does not start as previously stated. Odometer and speedometer are not working. AC and cruise control are inoperable. Paint has several small areas of bubbling. (pics) Passenger side floor pan is rusted through along rocker panel. Undercarriage has surface rust but all functional. Spare tire well solid. This is not a show car by any means, but was an excellent driver with potential to take it further if you chose. If you have questions, ask before you bid. I will not ship outside of US. Buyer is responsible for transport. Car is sold AS-IS DO NOT bid if you have less than 5 feedback record or under 89% positive feedback. I will cancel your bid. DO NOT waste my time. I have tried to be honest in my description. My feedback rating is quite reputable. |

Can a Jaguar XKR-S be drifted while blindfolded?
Thu, 27 Dec 2012Bring together a 550-horsepower Jaguar XKR-S and a rain-soaked skidpad, and it's almost impossible to not end up in a sideways drift... accidental or on purpose. With that in mind, the gang over at Autocar got a hold of the monstrous XKR-S for the latest installment of "Will it Drift?," only they raised the stakes a little by attempting the feat with a blindfolded driver
We've driven the XKR-S a number of times here at Autoblog (including a First Drive, Review and Quick Spin), so we weren't at all surprised to learn that blind drifting in the car is possible. But what is remarkable is the ease at which it happened. This, of course, can be credited as much to the car as to the driver, Steve Sutcliffe. Check out the impressive video for yourself, which is posted after the jump.
2014 Jaguar F-Type
Wed, 17 Apr 2013Stepping Into The Lion's Den With A Big-Hearted Cat
If you're like me - and our demographics suggests you are - you've probably never seen a new Jaguar sportscar at your local showroom. I'm 36, and it hasn't happened in my lifetime... and not by a little bit. Oh, there have been a string of XK coupes and convertibles, and as of late, there have even been some genuine high-performance specials - namely the R, R-S and R-S GT models - but their basis has always been the 2+2 grand tourer shell, not a lighter and smaller footprint with more intrinsic sporting intent. The truth is that it's been a half-century since Jaguar introduced a proper new sportscar. Today, most people know the brand strictly as a purveyor of wood- and hide-lined luxury sedans.
In fact, if you're not an enthusiast with some appreciation for the marque's history, it's a bit odd to hear Jaguar executives proclaim that they are a sportscar company and always have been. By their reckoning, the 2014 F-Type seen here is in fact a return to form, a Rip Van Winkled brand pillar reanimated and reimagined to take center stage. It's a sentiment that must be particularly odd for car shoppers in developing markets like China, where Jaguar hasn't even been selling cars for very long. Yet because the original 1961 E-Type is perhaps the most gorgeous car ever to lay ply on the world's roads, we're prepared to cut them some slack.
Jaguar Land Rover signs manufacturing contract with Magna Steyr
Thu, Jul 2 2015Jaguar Land Rover is in the midst of implementing big plans. Those include a raft of new models, and a series of new manufacturing facilities to build them. It seems, however, that the former is outpacing the latter, as the British automaker has just announced a new manufacturing contract to have some of its vehicles built off-site. The latest deal is with Magna Steyr, the contract manufacturer based in Graz, Austria. That could see a Land Rover produced at the same facility that has handled the Mercedes G-Class since 1979, or a Jaguar at the same place that assembled the Aston Martin Rapide until 2012 when production was moved back to the UK. The big question at this point is just what JLR will choose to have Magna build on its behalf. The British automaker isn't saying at this point, but a spokesman confirmed to Autoblog that it will be a future product – not an existing line moved from its current production site to the contract manufacturer, as Mercedes recently did with the R-Class. A timeline wasn't announced at this early stage, either, but we're told it will take about 24 months before new Jaguars or Land Rovers start rolling out of the plant in Austria. Just what those new vehicles will be remains to be seen, but Jaguar Land Rover has a number of new products on their way. It is expected to reveal in the near future a new Defender, a replacement for the current LR4/Discovery, the new Evoque convertible, a new XJ flagship sedan, and possibly a new coupe and convertible to take the place of the old XK. We'll soon see the new Jaguar F-Pace, which may be followed by additional crossovers as well. The company also recently introduced the new XE, XF, and Discovery Sport models, though given the timeframes, they'll almost certainly be produced at JLR's existing facilities. It recently opened its first overseas plant in China, has another one under construction in Brazil, and is also said to be considering a plant in North America on either side of the US-Mexican border. Jaguar Land Rover Signs Contract Manufacturing Agreement With Magna Steyr Whitley, UK - Jaguar Land Rover has agreed a manufacturing partnership with Magna Steyr, an operating unit of Magna International Inc, to build some future vehicles in Graz, Austria.
