You are bidding on an extremely RARE Jaguar sedan, the premier XJ12, motorcar to Queen Elizabeth. This California dry air and salt-free environment specimen has had one owner (I bought it off-lease in 1998) and immaculate care. Complete service records since 1998. (The XJ12 model has the extended wheelbase and incorporates all the options and features of the Vanden Plas model as a base.) This is a "post-Ford owned" produced automobile so the problems with the electrical systems are a thing of the past in this model.

It pains me deeply to put this automobile up for sale as I have considered it to be a family heirloom, but circumstances in my life require that I unload some of my "stuff".

The 71,584 miles as of the date of this writing are actual. This has been my "special occasion" car but I have driven it regularly to maintain the integrity of the engine and moving parts. (I have flown airplanes for many years and understand the need for such exercising of the engine, transmission, etc.) There is some minor wear showing on the interior as would be expected of a car of this age, but it is minimal. The hydes are nearly flawless and still have a detectable fragrance of the fine leathers from which they are constructed. The sheet metal is rust-free and has only a few minor blemishes. The paint gleams as if new.

The 366 cu. inch, 313 horsepower V-12 is one of Jaguar's most potent power plant ever produced for a production automobile. It runs smoothly and is undoubtedly capable of taking the car safely to near the top end of the speedometer's 160 mph range.

If you have never experienced the legroom in a Jaguar extended wheelbase sedan, you will be amazed. The burled maple trim is incredible; fold-down picnic trays serving the back seating area are impressive to passengers. The car has an AM/FM radio with six-CD automatic changer and single cassette player. The trunk is air conditioned. The Firestone Affinity Touring tires are properly rated for speed and weight and have approximately 1,000 miles on them (installed 11/9/12), and the KYB shocks are also near-new. New spark plugs and wires in last year. The headliner was replaced by a very professional installer in 2012 as a result of the original liner drooping from age, and can't be told from new.

The list of options is short but amenities long: automatic and semi-manual transmission with "Normal" and "Sport" settings; front and rear fog lamps; automatic climate control; multi-directional power and heated seats; traction control; automatic night setting rear view mirror; full gauges; and on and on.

There is no warranty offered but the care given to this fine automobile promises it has a long life ahead of it. You are welcome to inspect the vehicle prior to bidding, by appointment of course.

Jaguar Land Rover opens new $1.6 billion factory in Slovakia

Thu, Oct 25 2018

BRATISLAVA, Slovakia — Jaguar Land Rover is opening a new, $1.6 billion plant in Slovakia, the luxury car maker's first in continental Europe. The U.K.-based company, owned by India's Tata Motors, built the plant near Nitra, about 65 miles east of Bratislava, to initially produce 150,000 cars a year. The Slovak government is giving the carmaker investment subsidies of up to 130 million euros ($148 million). Slovakia is a regional car-making powerhouse. Germany's Volkswagen AG, France's PSA Peugeot Citroen and South Korea's Kia Motors all have a major plant in this Central European country of 5.4 million people. The company said it will shift all production of its Discovery model from Birmingham, England, to Slovakia amid falling diesel sales, vehicle taxes and uncertainty about Britain's Brexit departure from the European Union.Related Video:

Hot Rod Garage series premieres with 700-hp big-block Jaguar XJ

Fri, 23 May 2014

Roadkill hosts Mike Finnegan and David Freiburger have broken up - kinda - to spin off a new show, Hot Rod Garage, that mostly gives up the driveway and parking lot wrench work for the confines of a garage. We say kinda because while Finnegan is the primary host for Hot Rod Garage, Freiburger plays guest host and the new show starts off by wrenching on the Roadkill Draguar project car.
What's the Draguar? It's a 1974 Jaguar XJ12 that's about to be force-fed a 383-cubic-inch Chevrolet long-block engine with tidbits like Holley carbs, a Weiand 6-71 roots blower and a "custom WillBlow transmission," all good for about 700 horsepower. After that Finnegan gets into swapping parts on his wife's El Camino and some TIG welding lessons.
You can check out the first episode below. And in case you're worried, no, Roadkill isn't going away.

Jaguar to follow up with larger J-Pace crossover

Mon, Jun 1 2015

Jaguar is about to launch its first foray into the crossover market (that's the C-X17 Concept you see above) with the upcoming debut of the F-Pace, but that won't be its last. According to the UK's Car magazine, plans are already underway to launch a bigger J-Pace crossover as well. Just as the F-Pace is set to serve as the high-riding counterpart to the XF sedan, so too would the J-Pace align itself with the upcoming new XJ – in a strategy not unlike what Mercedes is taking with its crossovers, aligning the GLE (nee M-Class) with the E-Class, the upcoming GLS (GL-Class) to the S-Class and so on. That would make the J-Pace a rival to the likes of the aforementioned GLS and Audi Q7. Tipped to launch in 2019, the Jaguar J-Pace is expected to borrow its aluminum underpinnings from the flagship Range Rover, but take a sportier, more dynamic approach than the top-of-the-line Landie. Expect V6 and V8 engines to be offered, alongside diesel and hybrid powertrain options. The J-Pace has reportedly won out over other proposals to expand the XJ family with coupe, convertible and wagon variants, as the crossover is expected to drive higher sales. Here's hoping those revenues could be poured back into those back-burnered projects, too. Related Video:
