Jaguar E-type Roadster 1972 V12 Xke Series Iii Convertible on 2040-cars
Ashburn, Virginia, United States

This is a 1972 Jaguar XKE (E-Type) OTS Roadster – Series III Convertible. It is a remarkably beautiful car and turns heads every time it’s outside. This is a low mileage car with about 47K on the odometer. The 1972 model year was the 1st
full production year for the new V12 configuration. I’ve owned this Jaguar for
about 11 years. It has been garage kept
through my ownership and never been in the rain. I seldom drove the car in my 11+ years of
ownership. It is in excellent unrestored
condition with paint being done by the prior owner. There is no rust on the car and the body and undercarriage
is straight with no accidents or damage.
Overall it is an excellent clean original and unrestored example. All numbers matching with original engine, transmission,
and drivetrain. It has original real wire
wheels with knock-off hubs. This
beautiful roadster is an automatic and has factory air conditioning. I have
a clean title for the car. Interior is all original and
unrestored. Leather seats show some wear
however, are in great shape. Carpet and
dash are in excellent condition. Exterior is in great shape as
well. There is no rust on this car. Under bonnet is clean and rust free. Boot is rust free as well. No rust in tire well or rear quarter
areas. Includes wire wheel spare with
original jack, handle, knock-off wrench and hammer. All original boot liners and covers The convertible top is original
and in excellent shape for a 40+ years old!
The top mechanism works perfectly and the top overall looks great. The rear window is a bit yellow however still
provides visibility. The original tonneau
cover is also included and is in perfect condition. I also have the original owner’s
manual and several other books that I will include with the purchase. There is
one original key and I have a blank WASO key that will also be included (no
longer produced). I have some spare parts that I purchased many years ago that
I will also include. I have a clean title
for the car. Car has been tuned by local British car shop; new plugs, points,
rotor, cap, and plugs. Starts and runs
great. The only items that have been
replaced are the battery and starter.
The starter is a new high torque type and works great. I have the original factory starter that will
be included will the car as well. Jaguar history In 1971, the Jaguar E-Type
Series III introduced a V12 engine to the model. Jaguar called it the
"Ultimate Cat" and advertised the its inherent smoothness and absence
of engine noise. The small block V12 displaced 5.3 liters and produced 314
horsepower. Along with the new engine, the body entire car was lengthened for
additional cabin space. Along with the longer 105-inch wheelbase, the body had
flared wheel arches, revised bumpers, and a large scoop under the front grill. Inside
the V12 had an entirely new interior with new reclining seats, a center
console, new door panels and a revised steering wheel. The dashboard retained
much of the Series II layout, but included the 2+2 stowage areas above the
floorwells.

Jos? Mourinho shares his fear in Jaguar F-Type R Coupe spot
Fri, 09 May 2014Jaguar is in the middle of an image makeover. It wants people to know that it makes more than just big, comfy luxury cars. Underneath that there is an edge. In its recent ads, the company wants to be associated with a more tailored, witty form of villainy. The next step is showing that it's also fearless.
Many Americans might not be familiar with José Mourinho, but he's one of the premier soccer, or football, coaches in the world. He's nicknamed "The Special One." Mourinho worked his way up from an assistant coach to lead small teams but eventually took over international heavyweights like Real Madrid and Chelsea.
In a new ad for the Jaguar F-Type R Coupe, Mourinho talks about what it means to be afraid. You might think such successful people overcome their fears, but successful men are driven it, he claims. But being scared doesn't make a man weak - it makes him dangerous. Scroll down to understand what Mourinho is talking about and get an earful from the wonderful exhaust of the R Coupe.
Lister Knobbly returning to limited production for 60th anniversary
Sat, Feb 1 2014Lister Cars was one of the pedigree names of British racing from its founding in 1954 and then on and off until the early 2000s. The company combined its own lightweight chassis with engines from other manufacturers, many of them British (and especially from Jaguar). Last year, the name and the intellectual property were sold to a new company that planned to revive the brand. For Lister's 60th anniversary, it is building a new version of one of its most famous racecars, the 1958 Lister-Jaguar Knobbly. The 2014 Listers are built to the exact specifications of the original cars, and the aluminum bodies are hand-formed on the original jigs. It is offered in racing trim starting at 249,000 pounds ($409,618) and is certified for FIA historic racing. There's also a road-legal version starting at 259,000 pounds ($426,060), if you don't intend to race but do intend to drive. There are two engines available, just like in the original car. A reproduction Jaguar D-Type 3.8-liter inline-six with dry-sump lubrication pumps out 330 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque with a four-speed Jaguar gearbox. The other option is a 4.6-liter Chevy V8 with 315 hp and 290 lb-ft with a four-speed manual transmission. The Chevy-engined version also gets a slightly altered body with a higher hood to clear the engine. The first 2014 Listers will be delivered in the UK this April. Unlike many of these boutique sportscars, the racing version will be available to US buyers, but Lister won't federalize the road version due to the high cost. Scroll down to get all of the details about the revived racer. LISTER MOTOR COMPANY LAUNCHES NEW 60th ANNIVERSARY BROCHURE AS THE ORDER BOOKS BEGIN TO FILL New 60th Anniversary Lister Jaguar brochure now available 50 per cent of 2014 production already sold First cars to be delivered in April, 2014 Road-going variant to be offered at GBP259,000 + tax Race-going version to be GBP249,000 + tax. Following the recently announced purchase of the Lister Motor Company in May 2013, the company is delighted to announce that it has now published its 60thAnniversary Lister Jaguar brochure, which fully outlines the specifications for its fantastic recreation of the iconic Lister Jaguar 'Knobbly' racing car.
Jaguar design boss admits X-Type was a mistake
Thu, 19 Sep 2013History has a way of repeating itself, especially in the auto industry. When Jaguar was owned by Ford, the British brand attempted to field a competitor for the BMW 3 Series, called the X-Type. Based on the bones of a Ford Mondeo, it aped the styling of Jaguar's flagship model, the XJ, while borrowing liberally from the Ford parts bin. That was 2001.
Now, in 2013, Jaguar is planning a new 3 Series challenger based on the platform previewed by the C-X17 Concept, while Ford is attempting to take the latest Mondeo upmarket. The moves have both brands recognizing where, why, and how the X-Type failed. "It didn't look mature or powerful or anything. It was just a car," Jaguar's current head of advanced design, Julian Thomson, told PistonHeads. Basing the X-Type on a front-drive car while giving it styling that was meant for a rear-driver lead to proportions that "were plainly wrong," Thomson told PH. Ford's European head of quality, Gunnar Herrmann, added that the X-Type was "a fake Jaguar, because every piece I touch is Ford."
For what it's worth, the X-Type's successor in the segment will sport rear-drive, with plenty of input from Ian Callum. Thomson described the new model, which would challenge the 3 Series as having, "Big wheels right to the ends of the car, low bonnet, short overhangs, very low cabins." Sounds good to us.
