1971 Jaguar XKE (E-Type) Series II Roadster with parchment interior and regency red paintwork. Original engine, body, and 4-speed gear box, documented by Jaguar Heritage Certificate, are included with sale. Everything works. This car needs nothing. If you are looking for a project car, look elsewhere. Buy this car and drive it with confidence across town, or even across the country. This car has never seen snow. In fact, I do not even drive it on cloudy days. All the rest of the time, it is secured in my garage. When I was 16 years old in high school in Connecticut, a classmate friend told me that his father’s job was relocated to California. Initially the friend refused to relocate, since all of his friends and life memories were local. As a bribe, the dad bought my friend a new Jaguar XKE convertible to drive across country. Two things happened: (1) I never saw my friend again and was jealous about the car he just received, and (2) I knew that someday I would get a Jaguar XKE convertible just like my friend received. I purchased this car 3-years ago satisfying my 50-year desire to own a Jaguar XKE convertible. After a considerable search, I finally found this car with low mileage (18,300 at time of purchase) and an excellent unmolested body condition. Prior, the car was in storage for 30 years. I bought this car from the Canadian Restorer who replaced all the wear and fabric items (belts, hoses, battery, tires (Michelin), seats, visors, etc.). I have all the receipts which will be provided with the sale. This XKE now has 20,000 original miles. I drive it weekly, so final mileage might be slightly higher. I will provide the last two titles/registrations which document the mileage by motor vehicle departments. All steering and suspension items were replaced. Only two metal items were replaced following storage: (1) the bottom of the heater box which was replaced with a reproduction repair panel, and (2) the battery tray which was replaced with a stainless unit. The phenomenal body condition of this car is what you want when buying one of these beautiful cars. The glass on the car is all in excellent shape. The doors, trunk and bonnet line up nicely. They open and close with ease. This car has original chrome, glass, and drive chain. There is no body filler anywhere. Car is as straight as an arrow (see photos). The car has like new Michelin 185X15 tires with the new spare tire mounted on an identical Dayton wire wheel. This car was undercoated by Ziebart the day it arrived off the boat from the UK. There is no rust anywhere - PERIOD. The paint is a re-spray from about 10 years ago. The paint does have some minor blemishes, so please take time to look at the pictures carefully. I estimate it is an 8/10 concours, which is outstanding for its age. This car has original Freon-12 factory air conditioning. An extra container of Freon-12 and appropriate hoses/gauges are included in sale. There are 78 more pictures available on photo bucket. You hold the CTRL key and click to active the link at http://s1281.photobucket.com/user/patnbob/slideshow/ The car has won many awards at local car shows and really is a very exceptional car. Here is a summary of the restoration work to bring the car back to life, following storage. There is zero, zero, zero corrosion anywhere. What you are buying is a totally restored car that drives perfectly and needs nothing. The engine and fully synchronized gear box could not operate better. I want to make the point that many XKE series II cars can be purchased for under $50,000 but I can assure you that you will be spending much more in getting them into the condition of this car. The NAPA Guide prices this car as follows: http://www.nadaguides.com/Classic-Cars/1971/Jaguar/XKE-II/2-Door-Roadster/Values
Since this is a private sale, your final price should be significantly lower that the dealer price. You will find very few cars in the incredible original body condition of this car. This car was produced within months of the end of the series II production (see photo of build plate). If you want your dream car and don't want to spend the time and money fixing her up then this is the one for you. If you love restoring these cars then it is not the car for you as you will have nothing to work on. I understand that it is difficult buying a car sight unseen (other than photos) so I hope that I have described her with credibility as to what to expect. You are encouraged to inspect in person at any time, or hire an inspection service if time and distance dictate. This is part of my private car collection. I want this car to go to someone that will love it as I have. This amazing car is sold as is but please take time to read my 100% feedback and bid with confidence. To protect the integrity of the eBay bidding process, we will not accept a bid from a potential buyer with an eBay feedback score of less than 12, unless prior arrangements have been completed. Serious bidders are urged and cautioned to conduct their own due diligence, including a physical inspection in person or through a qualified third party inspector or appraiser, before contemplating a purchase or making a bid on this Jaguar XKE Convertible. We welcome and encourage an inspection, and will make every effort to be available at a time convenient to the perspective purchaser or his agent. Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. Shipping can be arranged to any destination in the world. We will help your shipper with access and arrangements. To help estimate the shipping cost, we are located about 30 miles southwest of Tampa FL. There are no dealer fees or other charges. Full payment is required prior to pickup or shipping. We can accept cash, wired funds, or a cashier's check. Please feel free to email any questions or offers to me. Thanks for looking at my listing and good luck bidding! |

Jaguar refreshes the 2018 F-Type lineup and adds a high-performance V6 model
Thu, Jan 12 2017Jaguar is giving the F-Type line a refresh for 2018 and adding two new variants. All new F-Types feature LED headlights and slightly darker taillights. Every model except the SVR also gets updated front bumpers. The most noticeable change is the side vents, which morph from the double slots to single openings in most cases. The F-Type R's large side vents are bisected horizontally. The two new F-Type models are the R Dynamic and the limited edition 400 Sport. The R Dynamic isn't particularly exciting, since it's pretty much just a dress-up package for the entry level 340- and 380-horsepower F-Types. All the model adds are 19- and 20-inch wheel options, as well gloss black-painted hood vents, splitter, side sills, and rear diffuser. The 400 Sport, on the other hand, comes with much more. It's only available for one year, and comes with a modified supercharged V6 producing 400 horsepower. The 400 Sport can be ordered with either rear- or all-wheel-drive, but the 8-speed automatic is the only available transmission. The car also benefits from larger 15-inch brakes at each corner. Owners of the 400 Sport can personalize their driving settings as well, thanks to the car's Configurable Dynamics system. Inside and out, the 400 Sport gets some visual upgrades, too. It includes the Sport Design Pack, which adds a deeper front spoiler, larger side sills, and a rear diffuser. A flat-bottom steering wheel, yellow contrast stitching, and black brushed aluminum accents finish off the interior. There are also plenty of 400 Sport badges on the car. View 12 Photos The two other major changes for the F-Type line involve infotainment. One of which is that every model now comes standard with Jaguar's Touch Pro infotainment system and its 8-inch touchscreen with which the driver can interact. The other is a cool new app the company developed with GoPro. It's called ReRun, and it allows the driver to connect a GoPro camera to the car, and download footage to the phone. The reason for connecting the camera to the car, is so that it can add telemetry data including speed, gear, g force, and steering and brake inputs to the video footage. After a spirited drive in the country or on a racetrack, the footage can be downloaded to the phone to be reviewed and shared. The app even generates "highlights" automatically. The new F-Type range will go on sale in the first quarter of 2017.
Land Rover could build a baby Defender on a platform sourced from BMW
Mon, Aug 12 2019The collaboration between BMW and Jaguar-Land Rover started out small, it was originally limited to motors for electric cars, but it might not stay that way for long. The Tata-owned British sister companies will allegedly rummage through Munich's sizable parts bin to build nearly half a dozen cars scheduled to come out during the 2020s. According to a report by British magazine Autocar, Jaguar has started designing two small cars that will join its growing family of Pace-badged soft-roaders. They'll be new additions to the firm's portfolio, not replacements for existing cars. One will be a regular crossover, while the other will be a swoopier, form-over-function four-door model ostensibly marketed as a coupe. Both will slot at the very bottom of the Jaguar portfolio, below the already pretty small E-Pace, in a growing market segment where the competition is fierce, and profit margins are thinner than an i3's tires. Here's where BMW apparently comes in. Instead of developing a platform from scratch, the two crossovers could ride on the hybrid-ready, front-wheel drive FAAR architecture found under the third-generation 1 Series hatchback and the upcoming 2 Series Gran Coupe. If we believe an earlier report claiming Jaguar and BMW will also share engines, most of the hardware found under the sheet metal will have German genes. All-wheel drive will certainly be available, and it could also come from BMW. The same platform -- and, presumably, the same engines -- would provide the basis for a Land Rover-badged model positioned in the same segment. Autocar learned it will be to the next-generation Defender (pictured) what the Mercedes-Benz GLB is to the G-Class. Some key design cues will carry over, but the two models will share absolutely nothing under the sheet metal. The soft-roader could resurrect the Freelander nameplate when it goes on sale during the 2020s. Looking even further ahead, the front-wheel-drive platform the next Mini Countryman and X1 will utilize could find its way under the replacements for the next Range Rover Evoque and Discovery Sport. These plans could very well change; the Evoque and the Disco Sport barely entered their second generation, so they're not due for a replacement until the second half of the coming decade. While neither company has confirmed or denied the report, the partnership makes sense from a business standpoint.
Jaguar will build 9 XKSS continuation cars at $1.4m each
Wed, Mar 23 2016The Jaguar D-Type was, for its time, a cutting-edge race car. It was also a car that could, theoretically, drive from Jaguar's Browns Lane factory to the race in France and back. This was an era in which top-tier race cars weren't all that different from their road-going counterparts. You couldn't really do the same in an Audi R18 E-Tron Quattro, now could you? The XKSS was a D-Type with the barest nod to road-going conveniences, like proper wind protection. With some unsold D-Type racers cluttering up the shop after three successive Le Mans wins, Jaguar converted 16 into XKSS spec, and had more in the works. It wasn't a comprehensive transformation, really. A windshield and a passenger door were added; a cabin partition and the striking fin behind the driver were removed. Otherwise, it wasn't much different than the all-conquering Le Mans-winners. And then tragedy struck. A fire destroyed nine of the cars, and the company never picked up where it left off after the mess was cleaned up. Hence Jaguar aficionados, and the company itself, keenly felt the absence of the "lost" cars. After the success of the continuation E-Type lightweights built by the Jaguar Classic division of Special Operations, the company will finish the run. Nine cars will be hand-crafted for a select group of customers and collectors, much as the company did for the lightweights. Jaguar expects the cars to fetch more than $1.5 million each. Considering the mystique of these "lost" cars, and the fact that Steve McQueen is heavily associated with the XKSS, they may trade hands for considerably more after the initial owners part with them. Jaguar expects to start delivering the continuation XKSS cars early next year.
