This series had the same chassis as the Aston Martin, and it is a lovely touring car. I believe this particular car was special order, as the books say only the supercharged model came in red (and the wood is not walnut). The odometer shows 111,520, but this re-manufactured engine has only about 10,000 miles, and the re-manufactured transmission has only about 5,000 miles. Mechanically, the only problems are the traction control and ABS light shows some malfunction. Cosmetically, there is a place on the deck lid where the clear coat is lifting off, so I would recommend the lid be repainted. With the major mechanical components nearly new, and some minor ones as well (new alternator, new battery, nearly new brake shoes and front discs, Continental Extreme Contact DWS 245/50 ZR17 tires w/20,000 miles, convex drivers mirror), this is a car for someone who wants the classic good looks with several years of enjoyment ahead.

Dick Van Dyke escapes his flaming Jaguar on the 101

Actor Dick Van Dyke was caught in a dangerous situation on a Los Angeles highway (who are we kidding, every situation on an LA highway is dangerous), when his Jaguar XJ spontaneously caught fire. The 87-year-old actor/comedian pulled to the side and attempted to call emergency services when another motorist pulled him from the car. There seems to be some confusion as to whether Van Dyke was passed out or merely calling emergency services.
According to the photos and video from NBC and The Today Show, the car was thoroughly cooked in the blaze and is now a total loss. After the incident, Van Dyke's wife, Arlene, posted that the actor was "fine," sharing a Vine video of the star, the car, and a few CHP troopers that were on hand. Later in the day, Van Dyke tweeted a photo of his toasted sedan, saying, "Used Jag for sale REAL CHEAP!!"
