1952 Jaguar Xk 120 One Owner on 2040-cars
Willis Wharf, Virginia, United States

You are bidding on a one owner 1952 Jaguar XK 120. I am listing this for a friend who's father just passed away at age 98. I am sorry that the photos of the car are not better. It is in a storage shed and the lighting was poor. We believe that ever part is there to due a full restoration. As you can see in the photos each box is labeled. He saved the leather so new pieces could be cut. The windshield is there but it is cracked. You can use it as a pattern. Below is the description that the son in law wrote up.
This XK 120 was bought new 8/15/1952 by its current owner and is original with all matching numbers and the original title. The car was driven regularly until the early 1970's when it was placed in covered storage awaiting restoration. In the mid-1980's the owner, a retired engineer at Fairchild Aircraft Manufactures, began restoration. The goal of the restoration was to return the car to driving condition and resume regular use. The car was disassembled and the work on the mechanicals was undertaken. The engine and transmission were overhauled and returned to full working condition. The brake and suspension were overhauled. All body rust was repaired and the door sills on both sides were replaced. The drivetrain was reinstalled in the body. At that point, in the early 1990's, work was halted due to various personal reasons and the car was returned to covered storage where it has remained until now. The owner has recently died at age 98 and the car is being offered for sale by his estate. The car is believed to be 100% complete, and except for the replaced sills, is completely original. The body is in excellent condition with most of the original paint mostly intact. While still being driven, the car suffered a minor fender bender and there is damage to the left front fender and front valance. The convertible roof framing is complete, but the canvas has rotted away. The car has the original steel wire wheels but the tires are rotted. The original wooden floor boards are available, along with a new replacement made from epoxy coated marine plywood. A number of reference materials are also available, including shop manuals. There is also a manual that the owner made up that has drawings of many of the parts on the car and how they are installed. From my observation the floor of the trunk was replaced. I do not know if the car will roll. I would suggest bring wheels with tires and maybe it will roll without much problem. This car is sold as is, where is. We will help get it out of the storage shed and across the lawn to the transport truck. A good neighbor and friend has had this in their shed for a quarter century. And we want to make sure their lawn is not damaged when the car is removed. The car is located in Hagerstown Md. If you are very serious and want to make a offer before the auction ends and need to see the car we can arrange that. Otherwise the car is not available for viewing. $500 through PayPal within 24 hours of end of auction. Balance due within 5 days of end of auction. PayPal, Bank check or cash. We would like the car picked up within 7 days after auction ends. Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. |

Playmate of the Year Raquel Pomplun gets a Jaguar F-Type
Sun, 12 May 2013The Jaguar F-Type is slinking its way into vastly divergent corners of the celebrity world. Lana del Rey is its songstress, Englishman-playing-American-terrorist Damien Lewis lead its cinematic debut in Desire, San Francisco quarterback Colin Kaepernick gets the athletic endorsement, and now it's just been driven behind the "Adults Only" doors at the Playboy Mansion: Raquel Pomplun was gifted a year's use of an F-Type for being named 2013 Playmate of the Year.
There's a video below of Pomplun and her F-Type getting 'camera ready,' and a press release below that in case you want to, you know, "read the article."
Jaguar planning two bodystyles for next XJ
Wed, 17 Apr 2013As we alluded to in today's F-Type first drive, Jaguar hasn't been selling its wares in China for very long, and as a result, buyers there usually don't have the same appreciation for the brand's history. So you might reasonably think that the company's recent radical styling shift (kicked off by the 2008 XF) wouldn't be as jarring to the nation's buying populace since they really didn't have the automaker's more traditionally styled models from years past to compare them against.
Yet while Jaguar and its sister marque, Land Rover, continue to pick up steam in China's developing market, that apparently isn't necessarily the case. Local buyers there tend to have more conservative tastes when it comes to styling, preferring more upright dimensions, big back seats and larger quantities of traditional luxury materials (think: chrome and wood) than other markets currently find desirable. Thus, the very bold current-generation XJ sedan may be leaving some sales on the table.
According to Edmunds, Jag doesn't want to risk that, and as such, it is preparing two bodystyles for the next-generation XJ - one with the rakish coupe-like styling of the current model, and a more "old-school" three-box sedan designed to appeal to a wider swath of Chinese buyers.
Jay Leno gets reacquainted with the Bertone Pirana
Mon, Mar 16 2015Jay Leno gets all manner of vehicles stopping by his garage – some more rare than others, but this one is an entirely unique creation unearthed from another time. It's the Pirana, a one-off commissioned by a British newspaper in the late Sixties that we actually found listed on eBay a few years back. It was built atop a Jaguar E-Type, but with custom bodywork designed by Marcello Gandini and crafted by Bertone. The result looks like a Maserati Ghibli or Lamborghini Espada of the same era, but actually came out just before either, previewing the Italian exotics that would follow from Gandini's pen and Bertone's carrozzeria. The Pirana is now undergoing a complete restoration to bring it back to the original condition in which it appeared at the 1967 London Motor Show, but before the process is complete, Leno shows us around and takes it out on the open road to relive memories of a relic from a bygone era.
