This is a car for a discerning collector. Over $8,000 spent just in cosmetic restoration work alone, including a completely new paint job and fix of every single ding, a new convertible top and headliner, new drivers side leather seat, new leather console cover, and more. The new paint job on this car is beautiful, done by a high-end shop that does all car work for movies made at Screen Gems Studios, here in Wilmington, NC.

This is a uniquely cared-for car.

Mechanical condition; I have repair receipts for fifteen years. List of recent work includes; new rear brakes including new calipers, pistons, brake hoses, brake pads, disc rotors. New front brakes including brake pads and calipers, all new brake hoses, new emergency brake pads and rear brake lines, new master cylinder valve. Note, ABS non-functional. Newly refurbished AC including new switch, retro fitted to R134 freon. Refurbished power steering with new rack and hoses. New front shocks. New wheel bearings. New antenna assembly. Almost new tires; 2,000+ miles on Goodyear Eagle GT II's. This list is only of some recent work. Thousands of dollars in repairs, maintenance and upkeep over the years have been spent to keep this car in excellent mechanical condition. Mechanic who has worked on this car for twelve years says engine is great. Transmission is smooth. A couple minor issues discovered as I was inspecting the car prior to sale; the door locks are stiff using the key, and the remote does not work. Power mirrors are a little balky. I never use either locks or adjust mirrors and they both loosened up somewhat as I tested them out. Cosmetically, there is some barely noticeable, very minor wear on the door arm rest near the door at the hinge. These are minor issues but I felt they should be mentioned up front. Car is sold AS IS, WHERE IS. Car has a clean CARFAX report. Passed safety and emissions inspection last month.

I will see if I can arrange or help arrange shipping at buyer's expense to a buyer who cannot come for the car. Also, I can pick up the buyer at our local airport if you wish to fly in and drive car home.

Original 65,000 miles driven by an older, careful driver. For the last 12 years, I have driven this car maybe once a week on average for probably no more than 10 miles each time, on local roads to either our country club or just to get gas. I have three other cars. I am at an age where I need to simplify things and so I am parting with my baby.

The engine is smooth and quiet. Tires are like new. AC blows cold. Smoke free/no odors of any kind. Garage kept. The car is stunning and a joy to drive.   I encourage bidders to come check it out.

Jaguar XE SV Project 8 takes Laguna Seca production sedan record

Thu, Sep 13 2018

Jaguar has claimed another Laguna Seca record with Randy Pobst at the wheel. This time around, the Jaguar XE SV Project 8 became the fastest four-door sedan to lap the track, with a time of 1 minute, 37.54 seconds. The record follows the production electric car record set in late August with an unmodified I-Pace HSE, and it's also the fastest recorded Jaguar time on the track; the previous fastest Jaguar there was the 575-horsepower F-Type SVR. As it seems most Laguna Seca records have been set by Pobst, the previous four-door production sedan record was also his handiwork, in a Cadillac CTS-V. That time was about a second slower than the XE SV Project 8, at 1 minute, 38.52. The fastest Pobst time at Laguna Seca stands at 1:28.65, driven with a Dodge Viper ACR MkV. The Laguna Seca record isn't the first lap record claimed by the XE SV Project 8, as it took the production sedan honors at the Nurburgring Nordschleife in November 2017, with a time of 7 minutes, 21.23 seconds. Only 300 vehicles will be built, at the JLR Special Vehicle Operations facility in Coventry, England. The XE SV Project 8 hits 60 mph in just 3.3 seconds, thanks to its 591-horsepower, supercharged V8 engine, which propels it all the way to 200 mph. There are two versions available, a more road-suitable four-seater and a special Track Pack car with lightweight carbon fiber racing seats.Related Video:

Looking back on our favorite cars of Mad Men

Tue, Apr 7 2015

The second half of the seventh and final season of Mad Men debuted this week, set to cap a run of public and critical acclaim. A decade's worth of interesting cars also made for good television, if you were paying attention. Vehicles didn't often steal the spotlight from Don, Betty, Roger, Joan and the gang, but they added meaningfully to the tone and beauty of the series. We sorted through the wheeled extras from Mad Men's archives, and choose some of our favorites to highlight. The list consists of cars that had at least a small impact on the plot of an episode, though certainly there are worthy gems hiding in just about every street and driving scene. Check out our subjective top five, and then let us know which of the Mad Men cars would be on your list. 1962 Cadillac Coupe DeVille – Season 2 Don Draper's Cadillac Coupe DeVille, all 500 feet of it, shows up in a few seasons of the show, but it's the first appearance that sets the tone. A Cadillac salesman, cut from the same cloth as Draper, asks what Don drives right now. "A Dodge," Don admits. "Those are wonderful if you want to get somewhere," allows the salesman, "this is for when you've already arrived." For a man on the move up corporate and social ladders that's a powerful message, and a pitch-perfect car. 1961 Lincoln Continental – Season 3 The most stylish Lincoln Continental ever is perfect set dressing for the mod show, of course. Though it's interesting that the car isn't cast as dapper Draper's ride, but rather his father-in-law's. Grandpa Gene does what all great grandfathers are bound to: lets his granddaughter Sally drive the big Lincoln while he works the pedals. Generational bond secured, in fine fashion. When you go back through the first three seasons of the show, you'll notice that Continentals show up more than once, too. There's nothing quite like them to evoke the best of the early '60s. 1963 John Deere 110 – Season 3 The only non-standard passenger vehicle on the list, no self-respecting gearhead/Mad Men fan should quibble with the inclusion of the John Deere 110 riding mower. For starters, the Deere is lovely to look at; a miniature version of the American Heartland icon in its green and yellow duds. The 110 appears as if milled from a solid block of steel, just the opposite of today's sleek, plasticky lawn minders (we're scouring Craigslist for one to bring home). The John Deere also has dear ramifications to the plot, too.

Prince Harry drove Meghan Markle to their Royal Wedding reception in this electric Jaguar

Sat, May 19 2018

Well over a billion people all over the world tuned in to watch the Royal Wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle this morning, but now that it's all said and done, it's time to direct our attention to the car that the newly crowned Duke and Duchess of Sussex drove to their reception. The Jaguar E-Type Zero first debuted in September of 2017, but it's getting a whole heck of a lot more press today than it did then. Welcome to the Royal Family, Jag. Jaguar left as much of the original 1968 Series 1.5 E-Type in tact as possible while replacing the original inline-six engine with an electric motor and battery pack. Enough power is sent to the rear wheels to push this feline from 0-62 in just 5.5 seconds. That means it's quicker now than it was when new and chugging on gasoline. The E-Type Zero's range of 170 miles is way more than enough to whisk the happy couple away from Windsor Castle to Frogmore House on the Windsor Estate, where Harry's father, the Prince of Wales, is hosting their wedding reception. But if it were to run out of juice, its 40kWh battery can be recharged in under 7 hours. Want one of your own? The Daily Mail says it'll cost GBP350,000 (that's over $470,000 here in the States). Just don't expect a customized license plate to match the date of your wedding. Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences.
