This is a former show car and always garaged; it looks and smells as new. There is a small patch of paint disturbed on the roof of the car but otherwise looks stunning and runs great. Owners say the following:

Faultless with correct maintenance.

Impressive, always attracting positive attention.

This car is all about comfort.

Bags of torque. Acceleration is effortless

A lot of car for not a lot of money.

Good acceleration. Can whisk you over 100mph without realising it's quite docile around town.

Silky smooth ride, slightly cramped interior (but who cares when it looks this good).

Engine: Rock solid build, no problems to date

Buying an XJS

Without a doubt, the XJS is one of the most popular Jaguars ever made and while it may not have the appeal of the legendary E-type it is an excellent choice for someone who wants to enjoy Jaguar ownership at a reasonable cost; and who wouldn't! Needless to say, with such a long run and model variations, XJS can be found from very cheap, as in needing plenty of work, to excellent condition. As a hobby or week end car, there is really no reason to stay away from an early coupe.  The V12 is without a doubt one of the very best engine ever build by Jaguar or by any builder for that matter. It is a rugged and reliable engine capable of high mileage with very little problems.

At the other end of the spectrum, the later XJS can make a very good daily driver with decent fuel economy in the case of the AJ6 / AJ16 powered versions.  The V12 when driven sensibly  won't be worst than most of the SUVs seen on the roads today.  Maintenance on the V12 is more costly than on a 6 cylinder car, not only because there are twice as many plugs, wires, injectors, etc... but because with such a big engine access is limited; this is the price to pay for the glamorous V12 badge.

ALL XJS

1976 to 1980. Two door Coupe introduced in late 1975 as successor to the EType. Four place car with room for two. Built on 102" wheelbase. Supplied with the Fuel injection V12 only, alloy wheels, and SII Sedan type accessories. Rear sway bar, 3.31 rear axle with "XJ-S" lettering. No cars manufactured in 1981.

All cars have fully independent suspension and four wheel disc brakes (inboard on the rear until 1994). Brake and suspension components virtually identical on all XJ cars since 1974. All models have Lucas electrics unless otherwise noted. V12 cars featured positraction rear axles. Telescoping steering column all models – tilt not available. U.S. V12: all 1977 1/2 -on V12 use a GM T400 with a special "Jaguar only" case that will not adapt to earlier V12 engines, V12 engines are 5.3 liters (327 inches) or 6.0L.

Jaguar XE SV Project 8 now available for Nurburgring rides

Thu, Oct 25 2018

There are a number of ways to experience the Nurburgring Nordschleife, including being driven around by a professional driver. Jaguar runs its own program that does just such a thing called the Race Taxi program. It just became even more appealing because Jaguar has added the XE SV Project 8 as one of the available cars. In case you had forgotten, it's a special car for the program because it currently holds the record for fastest production sedan at the track. Even without a record to its fame, the Jaguar XE SV Project 8 is special for other reasons. It's the most powerful production Jaguar with 592 horsepower. That engine can propel it to 60 mph in a claimed 3.3 seconds. Most of the car's exterior is completely unique to the car. It's a rare machine, too, with only 300 sold. If you want to go for a ride, well first you have to get to the Nurburgring. But once you're there, hand Jaguar 199 euros, or about $227 at current exchange rates, and a driver will take you for a lap of the track. The company brags that you'll experience speeds of over 155 mph, and hit 1.8g in the steeply banked Karussell corner. You only get the one lap, but at least you know it will be a roughly 7 1/2 -minute thrill ride. If you can't get into the Project 8, you'll still be able to ride along in the 575-horsepower F-Type SVR or XJR575. Related Video:

Watch 2 clay modelers build Jaguar E-Types out of plasticine

Tue, Jun 9 2020

Ah, quarantine time. When put to good use, it can be a time of ingenuity and creativity — precious time given back to us, in a sense. So here are two chaps, Joe and Lucas, who work at JaguarÂ’s Design Studio, stuck at home, ready to make a couple classic E-Type models out of some plasticine. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings. ItÂ’s not exactly an instructional video, since itÂ’s mostly sped-up time lapse footage with no instructional explainers. But itÂ’s meant to show us that anyone can do it. The tools they use to shape the plasticine are common household items: a rolling pin or similar cylindrical items — they use a can of hair spray — to roll out the material, a plastic spoon, potato peeler, a knife, cardboard, tinfoil and a glass of water to apply to the plasticine and make a smooth finish. As for plasticine itself, itÂ’s a modeling clay thatÂ’s similar to Play-doh except that it is oil-based, where the latter is made of flour and water. (If youÂ’re interested, hereÂ’s a video that shows you how to convert Play-doh into plasticine.) So weÂ’re shown how the designers shape the signature fender bulges, greenhouse, head- and taillights and wheels. But it frankly all goes by in a blur, and we suspect that most of us amateurs would be left with something that looks more like an undefined blog. Still, itÂ’s fun to watch. Built between 1961 and 1975, the E-Type two-seat roadster is considered one of the major icons of automotive design and part of the AUTObodies collection at the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
