For sale is a 1995 Jaguar XJ6. The car has been reliable in the five-plus years I've owned it and was used as a daily driver until January 2014 when the starter expired. Purchased at approximately 65,000 miles. Always started up and got me where I needed to go.

However, little things started failing that I decided not to repair. Thus, car is being offered as a “mechanic special” or as a parts source with a low reserve. The car has been sitting for approximately four months and is being sold “as is where is” since I was able to purchase another XJ6 at a reasonable price.

Odometer stopped working at 115,714. Figure there is around 120,000 on the car.

Herein, will disclose everything I know to enlighten potential buyer.

The new owner will need to have some things fixed to return the car to use as a daily driver. Advise doing the following things initially.

Replace shocks, battery and starter. Second, repair trunk, which had been jammed shut as a result of a rear-end collision several years back. Another car skidded on wet pavement going down a hill with the XJ6 at bottom waiting at a red light. A hit-and-run. Initially, trunk continued to work, but eventually could no longer open.

After the accident, I didn't see noticeable damage other than paint. I drove the car fine afterward and continued to do so. Do not know if the impact caused any damage to frame.

Engine and transmission strong.

Tires are about a year old. Some tread remains. The car does not have a spare. Will provide a wheel on which spare can be put.

AM/FM radio works fine. Six-disc CD player in trunk.

Was able to drive car at highway speeds and for long distance without issue.

Car DOES NOT have air conditioning. Heater and defroster, front and rear, work fine.

Here are other repairs that can be performed.

While trunk if being repaired, give car a new paint job and repair small dent on top of left rear fender that is about the size of a baseball. Not sure how that occurred.

Brakes OK. But the anti-light brake light on dashboard is on. Need to have anti-lock brake system checked. It could be that the accumulator vessel needs to be replaced. Cost of that part is $100 to $200 depending on source.

Other things that don't work that could be related to fuses – power seats, power mirror on driver side odometer and speedometer as well as light behind it. (Tachometer, battery gauge, oil gauge, fuel gauge and engine temperature gauge work.)

The passenger side power mirror is broken, result of another hit-and-run incident.

Fan shroud in engine compartment is loose but does not rattle while car is being driven. And car does not overheat. (I will include a replacement fan shroud with the car.)

Power sunroof did not work when I purchase the car. Planned to repair but did not do so. But the opening is essentially secure. A little water leaks through infrequently.

Digital clock that is near the radio is not working.

Power window on driver door does not open or close. Think it is a motor issue.

Lock cylinder on driver door has fallen into door.

Mechanism inside door that controls lock button on passenger front door needs repair.

Rear passenger door on driver side needs repair. Seems the cable that connects to the handle is broken.

Driver seat has a small tear in the leather on horizontal area – in front in between driver's legs. Leather on all other seats good.

Lastly, key is stuck in ignition. Have only one key for the car.

Have clear title for the car, which is located in Trenton, NJ. Car will need to be towed.

Asking for deposit of $250.00 by PayPal within three days of completion of auction. Asking for rest by PayPal prior to picking up car or back check for balance upon picking up car.

Glad to answer any questions you may have.

Environmental group accuses BMW, JLR of link to deforestation in Paraguay

Wed, Sep 30 2020

ASUNCION, Paraguay — Environmental group Earthsight said on Wednesday it has linked some of Europe's largest carmakers to the deforestation of the Chaco, a dry forest region of Paraguay home to jaguars and one of the last uncontacted indigenous groups in the world. The group said in a report that livestock companies have illegally logged lands of the Ayoreo Totobiegosode indigenous ethnic group, some of whose members live in voluntary isolation. The livestock skin is used in leather upholstery of luxury vehicles sold by high-end European auto brands including BMW, Jaguar and Land Rover, the group said. UK-based Earthsight said it had made covert visits to tanneries that bragged about supplying the raw material to the luxury car brands. "BMW is using hides sourced from two slaughterhouses processing cows from ranches responsible for illegal [logging] in the Ayoreo Totobiegosode's forests. Jaguar Land Rover didn't dispute sourcing from a Paraguayan tannery that processes hides from another slaughterhouse doing the same," the report said. Jaguar Land Rover said in a statement to Reuters it had found no evidence to verify Earthsight's claims. It said its European suppliers assured sustainability. "We continue  our drive for further transparency and, in this case, the leather supplier in Europe verifies with each raw material supplier that no rural property that directly supplies it is involved in illegal deforestation," the automaker said. BMW did not respond to a request for comment on the Earthsight investigation. Paraguay exports about 50,000 tons of wet-blue leather (tanned, but not dried, dyed or finished) a year, and almost two-thirds of those shipments are bound for Europe, according to the report. Automakers say that leather is a byproduct of the far larger meat industry and high-end cars constitute a comparatively small market niche. But indigenous leaders say deforestation driven by growth in beef and leather exports is encroaching on their territory and destroying their way of life. "As deforestation advances with extensive cattle ranching, they are being imprisoned, they are disappearing," Taguide Picanerai, a spokesman for the Ayoreo community in the Alto Paraguay department, northwest of Asuncion, told Reuters. The region is home to some of the world's highest rates of deforestation, Earthsight said.   Green BMW Jaguar Land Rover

Jaguar has something special planned for Goodwood

Mon, 23 Jun 2014

It's been barely a week since JLR announced its new Special Operations division, dedicated to creating limited-run halo cars and custom creations for both the Jaguar and Land Rover brands. Now the British automaker has confirmed the debut of the division's first project.
We don't know what it is, exactly, that Jaguar will be bringing to the Goodwood Festival of Speed later this week, but we bet it'll be exciting. If we were the betting kind, we'd put our money on some kind of hot-rod F-Type, but we'll just have to wait and see.
Alongside whatever JLR Special Operations has got cooking, Coventry will also be bringing the new F-Type R Coupe and XFR-S Sportbrake to run up the hill alongside a whole slew of classic and racing Jaguars, including a pair of D-Types, a Group 44 E-Type, a Group A XJS and the reunion of XJR-9 and Andy Wallace that last saw each other on the top step of the podium at Le Mans in 1988.

Automakers want to stop the EPA's fuel economy rules change, and why that's a shortsighted move

Tue, Dec 6 2016

With a Trump Administration looming, the EPA moved quickly after the election to propose finalizing future fuel economy rules last week. The auto industry doesn't like that (surprise), and has started making moves to stop the EPA. Ford CEO Mark Fields said he wanted to lobby Trump to lower the standards, and now the Auto Alliance, a manufacturer group, is saying it will join the fight against cleaner cars. The Alliance represents 12 automakers: BMW, Fiat Chrysler, Ford, GM, Jaguar Land Rover, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Mitsubishi, Porsche, Toyota, VW, and Volvo. Gloria Bergquist, a spokesperson for the Alliance, told Automotive News that the "EPA's sudden and controversial move to propose auto regulations eight months early - even after Congress warned agencies about taking such steps while political appointees were packing their bags - calls out for congressional action to pause this rulemaking until a thoughtful policy review can occur." The EPA was going to consider public comments through April 2017, but then said it would move the deadline to the end of December. That means that it can finalize the rules before President Obama leaves office. The director of public affairs for the Consumer Federation of America, Jack Gillis, said on a conference call with reporters last week when the EPA originally announced its decision that it is unlikely that President Trump will be able to roll back these changes. Gillis also said on the same call that any attempt by the automakers to prevent these changes would be history repeating itself. "These are the same companies that fought airbags, and now promoting the fact that every car has multiple airbags," he said. "These are the same companies that fought the crash-test program, and now are promoting the crash-test ratings published by the government. So, it's clear that they're misperceiving the needs of the American consumer." There are more reasons the Allliance's pushback is flawed. Carol Lee Rawn, the transportation program director for Ceres, said on that call that the automotive industry is a global one, and many automakers are moving to global platforms to help them meet strict fuel economy rules around the world.
