This 1986 XJ is offered for sale with NO RESERVE. MY WIFE HAS DEMANDED ITS SALE AND SO IT MUST GO. I originally bought this XJ6 on Ebay back in the summer of 2006 from a Northern California seller. At that time, the seller claimed in the listing to have a relationship with a Jaguar dealer and that this vehicle was one of the last of this body style imported and sold. I have no way of knowing if that was true. When I bought the car, it had 181,371 miles on it. It was drive-able and was in generally good physical condition, but after many miles I knew it needed work.

I immediately had the ball joints, tie rods, steering rack, sway bars, and shocks replaced. I then replaced all the brake components, Then came the catalytic converters and the exhaust. That was all on the first bill, just short of 10k. I Would later have the electrical system replaced, and the engine rebuilt, radiator replaced, and of course every belt and tube, all by the same mechanic. Furthermore, 2 of the tires are brand new, the 2 others are fairly new.

That was the small money.

In the fall of 06, I brought the car to UNIQUE AUTO SPORTS. They are not on Long Island any more, but you may know them from the TV Show "Unique Whips". They did a full body restoration and paint job. That is why you don't see any rust in any photo. They also did a full interior restoration. This included reupholstering the leather seating, and replacing all door and dash wood. That is why the interior looks so good. The wood steering wheel you see is a fairly new addition and was never redone, however it is an authentic to this model Jaguar xj6 wheel. I have the original leather one as well. The money spent on this was more than all the mechanical work combined.

Alas, in the six plus years I have owned the car, I have put less than 4000 miles on it. The Pictures you see are taken at the Inn at Great Neck Hotel, the garage of which is the cars home. The Mechanic is across the street, (Richie at Great Neck Super Service) It does not go out in bad weather, ever.

Regardless of the work, being 27 years old, the car is being sold as is where is, but I welcome all inspections and test drives. In fact, if you come out to see or pick up the car, based on availability, I will comp your stay. I have nothing to hide, and if you bring temporary plates I see no reason the car couldn't be driven home to where ever you live.

Just about everything works, AC and Heat. I also put in a Sony head unit with CD and a line in. I never replaced the rear speaker but think they work, however they send a meaningless error message to the head unit. The windows work, but are some times slow. The interior lights work, the high beams at night work. the low beans don't, but the highs are not bright enough to be an issue, and I think its just the bulb. the cigarette lighter power doesn't work, and some times when unlocking the whole car, one of the doors doesn't unlock, but it usually does.

The car drives as it should.

Its good to be a little handy when you own this type of car, and to save on repair costs I have a parts car that is included in the sale, but it must be towed and can not be driven.

Please don't be afraid to ask questions or come and inspect, but only bid if you have a good track record and are serious, because with no reserve, if you win it, you win it.
Good luck and thanks for looking.

Jaguar XE teased in new video, will debut September 8

Fri, 05 Sep 2014

Outside of a major auto show, this might be one of the best times of the year for new car debuts, and we couldn't be more excited. Just this week, the low-slung face of the next-generation Mazda MX-5 Miata showed itself to the world, and Land Rover debuted its new Discovery Sport. Plus, there's a double-whammy of launches on the imminent horizon with the unveilings of the Jaguar XE on September 8 and the Mercedes-AMG GT on September 9.
Jag is teasing the launch of its latest midsize luxury sedan with a few glimpses on video. It's strangely secretive, given the fact that Jaguar showed the XE's face completely un-camouflaged a few weeks ago. Regardless, it's quite a looker up front with a sleeker take on the shape of the larger XF.
Because of the way Jaguar is slowly leaking details about the XE, there are a few other things we already know about this new cat, too. It rides on a monocoque chassis made from over 75 percent aluminum, and the automaker is promising 75 miles per gallon fuel economy on the more lenient European cycle for at least one engine in the lineup.

Jaguar's Callum refutes two XJ bodystyle rumor

Wed, 01 May 2013

Not long ago, we relayed word from Edmunds that Jaguar was planning to split its next-generation XJ sedan into two bodystyles - one model that continued the ambitious design approach fostered with the current X351-based model, and another, more upright model to better appeal to China's conservative design sensibilities.
We expressed some cynicism in the idea, noting that such a strategy "might catch more profits for the marque, but it might also represent a setback to design head Ian Callum's vision for a thoroughly modern Jaguar portfolio." Callum has been quite insistent in his belief that Jag needs to be a forward-thinking brand in terms of design, and the two-model strategy seemed to conflict with that idea. We tried to get some comment from Callum at that time, but were unable to reach him.
As it turns out, our cynicism was well-placed. Autocar says that while the next XJ will continue to have two wheelbases, Callum has denied the two-model talk, saying flatly: "I can't see us doing two bodystyles. The cost would be enormous and the message inconsistent. You have to believe in what you produce and to do two bodystyles would undermine that."

Jaguar XJ could move to all-electric platform late this year

Mon, Jan 22 2018

The Jaguar XJ is getting a little long in the tooth. The current generation of Jaguar's flagship sedan debuted back in 2009, making it one of the oldest vehicles still on the market. This week, Autocar reported that a new XJ could debut late this year and would move to an all-electric platform. That would place the XJ straight against cars like the Tesla Model S and upcoming Porsche Mission E, presumably sharing parts with the upcoming I-Pace electric crossover. While a couple of refreshes have kept the Jaguar competitive, the Mercedes-Benz S-Class and BMW 7 Series and Audi A8 have gone through full redesigns since the XJ debuted. (Two for the Audi). Compared to the Germans, the Jaguar looks and feels dated, especially when it comes to technology, active safety and alternative powertrains. In the U.S., the XJ is only available with either a supercharged gasoline V6 or V8. The competition from Germany, Japan and the U.S. all offer some form of electrification. Moving to an all-electric powertrain would be a huge shift for Jaguar and is sure to spark some debate among enthusiasts. The British automaker has previously stated it plans to electrify all new vehicles after 2020. Look for electrified variants of current models to be available, too. The new XJ is rumored to be co-developed with a new model called the Road Rover, a sort of high-riding sedan or wagon in the vein of the Audi allroad or Volvo V90 Cross Country. Like the XJ, the Road Rover would use a battery electric powertrain. Look for more news on both models later this year. Related Video:
