1996 Jaguar Xj6 Base Sedan 4-door 4.0l on 2040-cars

Hey folks, I am selling my 1996 XJ6. It is British Racing Green with Coffee interior. I bought it from the original owner and it has 45,xxx miles on it. I worked out some bugs and did maintenance. Inside The interior is nearly perfect except for the headliner. The heated seats work, even the clock works properly. The center vent louvers are misaligned. The rest of the interior looks very good! The leather is in great condition all around. The dash is perfect. The wood is in very good condition, save for some nicks on the drivers wood from something hitting it frequently. The console wood is perfect. The sunroof works. A/C is cold and heat seems to work fine. It even has rear heated seats, a 96 only option with the cold weather package. There are no lights on the dash while driving. The powered seats work. All windows work. The headliner is coming down above the rear seats and above the sunvisors. Exterior Keep in mind, this car was originally bought by an older gentleman. It does have some body work done and some dings. I have a clean carfax report. All in all, there is great paint on this 90% of this car. I have polished and shined it best I can. The problem areas are, the right front fender has a $50 bondo and spray can repair, the front and rear bumpers are chipped, and the passenger front door has a slight dent on below the horizontal molding. The left side of the car has newer paint in spots. I noticed in the sun the drivers door is a shade different from the fender and LR door/quarter. Hardly noticeable but it's there. Various scratches around the body. The car shines up well as you can see in the pictures. The chrome is great. I always say the chrome on these cars is always very robust. The mirrors work properly. All the lights and lenses are there and working properly. Even the third brake light is still in place! All the glass is crack free. The front windshield does have the normal streaks from the wiper. Engine bay The engine runs perfectly. I just replaced the spark plugs and the cam cover gaskets. Changed the oil and filter using a genuine Jaguar oil filter and Castrol Edge 5W-30 oil. A new air filter was installed. I replaced the thermostat and gasket along with the temp sensors on the t/stat housing. Changed the coolant to Dex-cool. I also replaced the upper rad hose. There is a slight leak from the power steering lines. Everything else seems tip-top. Underneath Under the car is very good. The differential pinion seal has a slight weep as well as the side seals. I've seen these go along time without a problem. The transmission is nice and dry. The engine had a leak from the cam cover gasket, which I replaced. Also, the aforementioned power steering leak. The suspension is still tight, wheel bearings feel just right at all four corner. I replaced the front upper shock bushings with genuine jaguar units that are foam. The foam does tend to break down over time but the aftermarket rubber ones are way too stiff. Control arm bushings and ball joints are still tight. The car feels good going down the road. The tires are 6-8 years old with 6-8 32nds tread all around. They are Pirelli P4000e (two) and Pirelli P4000 Super Touring (two). If I were to keep this car, I would replaced them simply due to age. There is no body damage underneath. Driving I use this car daily and would drive it anywhere. I enjoy driving these cars. I can say without a doubt that this car is ready to go anywhere. It drives effortlessly and provides the feedback you are looking for. There are some tire vibrations that smooth out with driving. The rest of the car is smooth as can be. The trans shifts perfectly and sport mode enhances the experience. The engine does not miss a beat. There are no abnormal noises or sounds. I hope someone can appreciate this car as much as I do. Sure, it has some cosmetics to take care of, but it is a solid car that is ready for a new owner to appreciate. I encourage you to ask questions. I believe in this car and if it weren't for my VDP already taking up my garage, I'd really consider keeping it. Any bidder with 0-5 feedback must email me or your bid will be rejected. There are too many scams in the world and ain't nobody got time for that. Sold As-is, Where-is, no warranty is expressed or implied. This is an 18 year old car and is in good shape but do not confuse it for a new car. Please contact me to come by and take a test drive. Thanks for looking |

Jaguar XJ electric sedan debut pushed to late 2021
Wed, Jul 15 2020Jaguar's been testing prototypes of the coming all-electric XJ sedan for a while now, an example we saw earlier this year testing in the cold having reached an advanced stage. The plan had been to launch the battery-powered flagship fastback this year, with sales to commence early 2021. A report in The Sunday Times says that plan has changed, Jaguar pushing the XJ back to the third quarter of next year while the automaker focuses on its finances and its most profitable models. The site FormaCar reports, "The presentation date on the official website now reads, 'October 2021,'" but we haven't found that XJ-specific page. In response to questions about the Jaguar canceling the XJ, a spokesperson responded, "Our engineers continue to work on the next-generation all-electric Jaguar XJ. We remain committed to our long-term strategy and our product portfolio remains the same, but the unprecedented situation will inevitably have an impact on our immediate plans." The Jaguar Land Rover group, coming off a string of deep losses during 2018 and 2019, was working through a cost-cutting and turnaround plan when Covid-19 hammered the global economy. The whispered concern among outsiders is that Jaguar will drop the XJ entirely, but that doesn't appear to be the case for now. The automaker cut thousand of jobs while investing more than a billion pounds into its Castle Bromwich factory to prepare for electric-car assembly. At the moment, Castle Bromwich normally builds the XE and XF sedans, those offerings also in flux while Jaguar reportedly considers turning one or both of them into a small hatchback or a compact plug-in hybrid sedan. We write "normally" because the factory was put on pause to deal with Covid lockdowns, and isn't scheduled to restart until August 14. And above all of this, JLR is on the hunt for a new CEO to replace Ralf Speth. We've been expecting the new sedan to open the book on mainstream luxury EVs, the same way the I-Pace did for SUVs, but it appears that won't happen. The electric XJ will come on the Modular Longitudinal Architecture, and we've understood the specs include a 90.2-kWh battery pack, the same size as the I-Pace pack. There have been rumors about a four-motor setup, but odds favor a twin-motor arrangement. The motors in the I-Pace produce 394 horsepower and 512 pound-feet of torque. For an XJ flagship, we'd expect an even more powerful option in the range.
Are you the soon-to-be-revealed Jaguar CUV concept?
Fri, 06 Sep 2013Following the teaser of the Jaguar CX-17 Concept released last weekend, the first official image of the Jaguar crossover concept appears to have hit the Internet ahead of its introduction at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
Assuming this is the real deal, the tall, upright front end removes any doubt that this is anything but a preview for the upcoming Jaguar crossover, which will likely be called either the XQ or the Q-Series. Reports suggest that Jag's first-ever CUV is likely to go into production in 2016, and it will bring with it the option for a Jaguar-developed four-cylinder engine replacing the current mills still sourced from former parent Ford.
2002 Mazda MX-5 Miata powered by a Jaguar-sourced V6 for sale
Tue, Aug 25 2020Cars & Bids, a relatively new site that specializes in auctioning modern enthusiast cars, is selling a 2002 Mazda MX-5 Miata. While that's hardly unusual, this example lost its four-cylinder engine and gained a Jaguar-sourced V6. Pulling a 3.0-liter six out of a 2000 S-Type and dropping it into an unsuspecting Miata is apparently easier than it sounds. England-based Rocketeer offers a kit that makes the swap reasonably straightforward, though the listing notes the factory air conditioning system is not compatible with the new engine. Cold air aside, the installation is done so neatly that it looks like Mazda envisioned the Miata with a bigger engine. Jag's V6 inevitably adds weight to a roadster praised globally for its nimble handling, but it also brings a whole lot of horsepower to the table. Left stock, a 2002 Miata is powered by a 1.8-liter four-cylinder that makes 142 horsepower and 125 pound-feet of torque. The example listed on Cars & Bids puts 220 horsepower and 221 pound-feet of torque under the driver's right foot, figures that easily offset the weight gain. And, somewhat surprisingly, the six spins the rear wheels through a stock five-speed manual transmission. Flyin' Miata sway bars and Koni shocks improve handling. Close the hood, and this Jagazda looks like a run-of-the-mill 18-year-old Miata. The seller made no modifications to the body, it's still painted in its original shade of silver, and he kept the stock 15-inch wheels. The dual exhaust tips hint at the V6, but they're subtle enough to surprise more than a few racers at the next autocross event. The auction is live now, and bidding stands at $4,250 as of writing with about three days left before the hammer drops. If you miss your chance to bag it, several shops sell kits that let skilled shade-tree mechanics shoehorn Mazda's K-Series V6 (which powered the MX-6 and the Ford Probe, among other cars) into an older Miata.
