Supercharged Jaguar! Rare and Ready! This XJ Super 8 Vanden Plas is dressed in Westminster Blue and Ivory Leather and is very clean! The exterior has a great shine, and does have one small dent, a few door dings, and a puncture in the rear bumper. The interior is very clean with less than average wear. The factory 17" alloy wheels are nearly perfect and the fully matched set of tires have excellent tread. The 4.0 Supercharged 32 Valve V8 pushes 370 hp and purrs just like a Cat! The Automatic transmission shifts strong and sure. The "Super" in this car not only includes the drivetrain, but also how enjoyable this car is to drive! Everything mechanical is as good as it gets, with only one exception and that is a worn strut mount that is a little noisy over bumps. Being a Jag, it is loaded with amenities such as power windows, power locks, power two-way moon roof, heated front & rear leather seats, front & rear fog lamps, anti-lock brakes, front & side airbags, remote entry, owner's manual and more! Everything works on this Cool Cat! According to Wikipedia, there were only 788 total Supercharged Vanden Plas XJ8's made between 1997 - 2003, and this is the last year of this production model. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jaguar_XJ_(X308) If this were not enough to get your heart pumping, this XJ has a clean CarFax (no accidents) and the same owner since 35,310 miles. Need more motivation? Bluebook value of this car is $12,500!!!!! See http://www.kbb.com/jaguar/xj-series/2003-jaguar-xj-series/xj-super-sedan-4d/?vehicleid=2593&intent=buy-used&mileage=140000 This is a RARE opportunity to own a classic Supercharged Jaguar! This Jaguar is also for sale locally and I reserve the right to end the auction early if it sells. I am also open to Buy It Now offers. I do accept trades and trade-ins. I am particularly fond of Volkswagen, Audi, and almost anything vintage. Let me know what you have. PLEASE NOTE: Provided that low reserve is met, may I be the first to congratulate you on an excellent purchase! Of course the next step is to pay (see payment instructions). In addition, as a licensed Michigan car dealer, it is mandated that I collect sales tax, license fee and title fee, and I do charge a $95 documentation fee to cover the time to process all of the paperwork. All of these fees are the buyers responsibility. Transporting this car is also the buyers responsibility, but I will help in any way I can, including coordinating shipping via my wholesale network or picking up the buyer at Grand Rapids Michigan airport so you can drive this beauty home (it is ready for a road trip anywhere!). That said, this car is sold as is where is with no warranties expressed or implied. IN CLOSING: While I have not utilized eBay much for my dealership, I have been an eBay member since 1999 with 100% positive feedback (see kevhead31). I have accurately and honestly described this vehicle as I do with all of my items, which is why I have never received even one negative feedback in 15 years.

Queen Elizabeth II was a longtime automotive enthusiast
Sun, Sep 11 2022Since driver's licenses, license plates, and passports were issued in her own name, Queen Elizabeth II didn't need them to drive and travel. She started combining the two just before she turned 19, joining the Auxiliary Territorial Service (ATS) transport division in 1945 for vehicle mechanic training. She wanted to help the British effort during World War II and would drive an ambulance — one that, theoretically, she could also fix if it broke down. The war ended before she graduated as an Honorary Junior Commander, the other ATS members dubbing her Princess Auto Mechanic. We donÂ’t know if she got under the hoods of the many official state vehicles and the far more numerous unofficial fleet in the royal garages, but she was still driving herself around England as late as this year. Here is a tiny selection of royal conveyances used during her 70-year reign. Gold State Coach (1762) True, she never drove this one, but a tour of every royal garage should start with the coach. King George III commissioned Samuel Butler to build it in 1760. Butler spent two years on the gilded carriage 24 feet long and more than 12 feet high. The quarters are suspended from the frame by leather straps, so occupants get tossed about even during a slow stroll, which is as fast as the eight Windsor Gray horses can pull it. It wasnÂ’t until the 1900s that King George VI rubberized the wooden wheels. Word is the queen didnÂ’t like it.  1953 Land Rover Series 1 Land Rover gave Queen ElizabethÂ’s father, King George VI, the 100th example of the 80 Series off the line in 1948. She picked up the Landie habit for herself five years later, when a 1953 Series 1 with a custom 86-inch wheelbase was part of the fleet used for her six-month tour of the Commonwealth in 1953 and 1954. That Land Rover became Ceremonial Vehicle State IV. The models above were built in Australia in 1958 as near copies of the Commonwealth tour vehicle, when Australia decided it wanted six identical versions for royal service. ItÂ’s thought the royal family went through around 30 Land Rover Series cars and Defenders since then, and many of the most common photos of her have her posing in or near one, especially the 2002 Defender built just for her. The royal family isnÂ’t finished with them, either: A current Defender 110 served as a luggage hauler for family members headed to Balmoral Castle during the queenÂ’s final days.
Jaguar opens new engine plant in the UK
Thu, 30 Oct 2014The heads of Jaguar Land Rover are having a busy couple of weeks opening factories. Just days after inaugurating the company's first overseas plant in China, the automaker's new Engine Manufacturing Center in the UK is being inaugurated, as well. The plant near Wolverhampton, England, marks the first time in decades that JLR is building its own powerplants in-house. Further signaling the importance of this launch for the business, Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip were on hand and even tweeted about it.
The factory's first major project is to build JLR's latest Ingenium four-cylinders, starting with the 2.0-liter diesel version. "Our new Engine Manufacturing Centre is an important step in advancing the competitiveness and capability of the UK automotive sector. The production of in-house engines will support the expansion of the UK supply chain providing critical mass for inward investment," said Trevor Leeks, plant operations director in the automaker's announcement.
Opening the doors to the Engine Manufacturing Center has been years in the making for JLR. The plant was first announced in September 2011 and broke ground in June 2012. Building it cost the company 500 million pounds ($800 million) and created 1,400 new jobs. Of course, being a state-of-the-art factory, considerations were made to make the place as energy efficient as possible. That meant installing the UK's largest solar array with 21,000 panels to produce about 30 percent of the site's electricity needs.
Land Rover planning SVX hardcore off-roaders
Sun, May 3 2015The new Special Vehicle Operations division at Jaguar Land Rover has already given us an array of ultimate wheeled creations, but it isn't quite done yet. Next, according to Car and Driver, will be a new line of SVX models. Not to be confused with the Subaru coupe from the 1990s (which also had all-wheel drive, come to think of it), Land Rover's SVX models will be hardcore off-roaders. Details are few and far between at the moment, but they're said to take inspiration from rough-terrain events like the Dakar Rally and Camel Trophy as inspiration – different from the Ford F-150 Raptor that takes its cues from the Baja 1000. Last we heard, Land Rover was planning a hardcore Defender to send the model off to pasture in high-performance style, and considering an extreme Range Rover as well. If either of those rumors materialize, they look like they'd be prime candidates for the SVX line. JLR Special Vehicle Operations has already showcased what it can do with the high-performance Range Rover Sport SVR, the luxed-up Range Rover SVAutobiography, the exclusive F-Type Project 7 and the continuation classic Lightweight E-Type. C/D confirms that further SVR models are in store to replace Jaguar's R-S performance models, while the SVX line would likely remain exclusive to Land Rover.
