Fields Motorcars is proud to present an absolutely exceptional and rust free example of this 1969 Jaguar XKE E-Type Series II Convertible/Roadster with it's original matching # 6 cylinder 4.2L/246HP engine and 4 speed manual transmission with only 34K original but undocumented miles and finished in 'Signal Red' color paint with a black leather interior and a black soft top and with five chrome 'knock-off' wire wheels, jack, knock-off mallet, handbooks, wooden steering wheel and tonneau cover etc fully mechanically sorted! The
car is reported to have only some 34K original miles and was purchased
by the most recent owner in 1/2009 with an original 33,200 miles which
was recorded as actual on the NJ title. The car is an older restoration
in 'Signal Red' color with a beautiful black leather interior. Please
note that this particular car is one of the few examples which was
delivered direct from the factory with a rare and desirable Series 1.5
hood! The
Series II was built between 1969-71 and had open headlights without
glass covers, a wrap around rear bumper, repositioned and larger front
indicators and the tail lights were positioned below the rear bumper
instead of above it as with the Series 1 & 1.5. The car had an
improved cooling system with an enlarged 'mouth' and twin electric fans
and better brakes. Detuned for the US with twin 'Stromberg' carburetors
instead of the triple which the European models boasted (although please
note that this particular car has been upgraded to three SU carburetors
from a '67 car for superior performance as per the European models!).
The Series II models were also easily identifiable with 'ribbed' cam
covers instead of the earlier 'polished' covers and a redesigned
interior with new seats and 'rocker' switches instead of the earlier'
toggle' switches on the dashboard. AC and Power Steering were also now
available as factory options.
The floor boards and all the typical rust-prone areas are completely solid and rust-free! The car has no signs of any accidents of any kind and has a very straight body with no rust. It's 'Signal Red' color paint is in exceptionally fine condition and the car looks extremely impressive with a lovely black leather interior which is in complete and mostly original condition apart from an after market CD player and with the front seats, door panels, headliner, dashboard and carpets all in very fine condition throughout with no real flaws. The car has four chrome knock off wire wheels and also a chrome wire spare wheel located in the trunk.
The
car drives as nice as they come with no known mechanical issues
whatsoever. This particular car must be seen and driven to be fully
appreciated - a seriously striking example which turns heads wherever
she goes showing pride of ownership throughout the years! The engine is
extremely strong and responsive with excellent oil pressure and no
noticeable oil leaks and which sounds absolutely magnificent, the 4
speed manual transmission shifts smoothly through the gears and the
engine temperature always remains cool. This is an extremely rare opportunity to own a great daily driving and restored and rust free example of a 1969 Jaguar XKE Series II 4.2L roadster with its original matching #'s engine in exceptionally fine condition throughout being offered as a great daily driver or collectible classic car for any British classic car enthusiast or European classic car lover! |

Ferrari and Jaguar dominate the 2017 Arizona Auctions
Mon, Jan 23 2017The 2017 Arizona Auctions took place this past weekend, and one look at the results should be a reminder that big-name auto auctions are no place for mere mortals. Aside from the fast paced nature – seven auction houses moved 3,486 vehicles across the auction block – the rarest and most desirable cars sold for more than most people will make in a lifetime. There were around 20 cars that sold for at least $1 million, with Bonhams topping the list with a $7,370,000 1963 Jaguar E-Type Lightweight. Despite $259.8 million in sales, Hagerty reports that 2017 was only the second biggest weekend in the Arizona auction's long history. The figure was up $9 million from 2016's total, but much of that increase can be attributed to the 12-percent increase in the total number of cars auctioned. The average selling price was $89,601, with the vast majority of vehicles selling for less than $100,000. Aside from the 1963 Jaguar E-Type, there were a number of rare and noteworthy vehicles for up for grabs. RM Sotheby's $6,600,000 1939 Mercedes-Benz 540K Special Roadster was the runner-up in value, followed closely by a $6,380,000 1952 Ferrari 340 America Competizione Spider from Bonhams. The various top-10 lists were awash with Ferraris and other European automakers, though much of the lower-end sales were populated by classic American autos. Most of the top sellers were built before 1970, though the occasional newer model (1995 Ferrari F50, 2005 Porsche Carrera GT, 2006 Ford GT) made it through. Based on 2017's overall theme, it appears that interest on cars from American automakers is on the rise. Hagerty notes that a number of 1980s American sports cars like the Chevrolet Corvette and Pontiac Firebird did surprisingly well. Look for the 2018 auctions to see if the momentum continues. Jaguar reveals upcoming XE's InControl infotainment system [w/video]
Tue, 19 Aug 2014Jaguar has been keeping busy lately, rolling out both the new Lightweight E-Type and F-Type Project 7 at Pebble Beach this past weekend. But the more important project for the British automaker is the upcoming new XE.

The system will allow drivers to pre-set the climate control for each day of the week, lock and unlock the doors and start the engine remotely.
It'll also include an on-board wifi hotspot to connect multiple devices and a laser-based head-up display that you can scope out in the graphic above as well as the video and press release below in advance of the XE's upcoming debut in London on September 8.
