Up for sale, here on Ebay from KURT TANNER RESTORATIONS, is a 1967 Jaguar E-type 2+2 Coupe. This car is a full numbers-matching example, with a 4-speed and wire wheels. It left the factory in the very attractive color scheme of Opalescent Silver Gray with Black leather trim. It is a very complete car with nothing missing. It was painted only once during it's lifetime in it's current white color, which has now been sanded down a bit. The interior trim is highly original including what's left of the seats, carpets, headliner, panel kit, etc. The car has the original, believed rebuilt engine that was completed as the first step to the previous owner's restoration efforts. The car has clean oil, full up to the mark. There are plenty of new gaskets fitted. The engine overall is very clean and tidy, and appears to have new core plugs and a painted block and head. After a battery and fuel, It was started up and running for about a few minutes with no noises and a very healthy tick over. It turns over on the starter with very nice, even compression. After some brake work and a cleaning of the fuel system, it may even drive well. There is a small leak in the front timing cover needing repair. The water pump is currently removed, and a new water pump is supplied. There is a newer exhaust system fitted to the car. The current recorded mileage reads around 77,000 which could very well be correct. Overall the body of the car is extremely solid. There are a few, very minor rust "cracks", about 2 inches long, around the lower front rockers and one around the LH wheelarch. The floors are perfectly solid, as well as the trunk and underside. The bonnet has been bumped in the nose and repaired once, but lines up very nicely along the bulkhead with good fit. The driver side door hinge has some wear. All of the body panels are original to the car. There is the occasional dent here and there. This fairly desirable Series One, 4.2 Liter 2+2 E-type has matching numbers with a 4-speed gearbox with triple carbs, toggle switches, and the open headlights. This was a feature on the late '67 produced cars. This car offers excellent value when compared to the two-seater Coupe model from the same year. It's approximately half the price. It is a very good, original car for straightforward restoration. It's original color scheme is very desirable, and offers the bonus of a rebuilt engine. A very good and economical opportunity to secure a good Jaguar E-type Series One example. This car is located in Southern California and can be viewed by appointment. 2016 Jaguar XF First Drive [w/video]
Thu, Sep 3 2015Jaguar has never had a problem with style or driving joy. Every generation of the British brand's vehicles – with excuses made and accepted in advance for S-Type and X-Type and other outliers – has offered compelling styling and great performance. New kid XF was no exception when it was introduced in 2007. The car's sheetmetal pointed the way forward for the fully up-to-date range we see now, and its confident engines and handling chops were on pace with the best Bimmers, Benzes, and Cadillacs. The first-generation XF made some hay for Jaguar, selling around 280,000 copies through 2014. But those annualized rates still represented a blip on the luxury midsize radar when viewed against the backdrop of the German Three's numbers. Part of that sales story has been down to the E-Classes and 5 Series of the world being consistently excellent, to be sure. But a lot of the blame can be found in Jaguar's historic weak spots. Grace and pace the brand had in spades, but consumer perception of quality and reliability just weren't there, pricing was typically near the top of the class, and the residual values of the cars were low (a combination of all three factors, most likely). Of course, Jag would love to sell a few more cars. But this time, instead of simply building a great-looking, great-driving new XF (which is absolutely the case), the brand is doing some clever non-engineering-based things to put more big cats in more garages than ever before. The tradeoff of very good ride quality is worth the minute amount of roll. After flying all they way to Spain – Pamplona and the Navarra Circuit, by way of Barcelona and a Range Rover adventure you'll hear about soon – I would be remiss not to tell you how the new XF goes down the road. Some 150 kilometers (93 miles) of motorway and challenging b-roads lie between the city with that annual livestock problem and the 2.44-mile, FIA approved racecourse. A route that led me to understand that this XF, in my case the 380-horsepower XF S, has gained more than it has lost in the generational changeover. The company is fully committed to aluminum for its midsizer, with the new car now using a body structure that's 75-percent built from the stuff. I'm told that means a body in white that weighs just over 600 pounds, and an overall weight savings of 11 percent. Body stiffness has been raised by 28 percent in the process.
Final Jaguar F-Type produced at Castle Bromwich
Mon, Jun 17 2024Last October, Jaguar told us that the F-Type ZP Edition would be the capstone for the F-Type line, the two-seat coupe and convertible retired at the end of the model year. That turned out to be maybe kind-of a little true; standard versions of the car will continue on sale until early 2025 as Jaguar sells out the car's production. The real last stand for the F-Type is the car above, the final unit down the line at Jaguar's Castle Bromwich facility on May 22, 2024, with its siblings the XE sedan and XF Sportbrake. Colored Giola Green outside with a Tan Windsor leather interior under a black roof, the F-Type will use its 5.0-liter V8 to drive to the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust collection on the same day that its inspiration, the Jaguar E-Type, ended production in 1974 with a British Racing Green Series III Roadster. Speaking of which, from 1961 to 1974, Jaguar says it built 75,528 E-Types across three Series'. From 2013 to 2024, the automaker built 87,731 F-Types.  Now that the dealer inventory's stocked, what comes next is the end of the long slog to electrification. We won't know what that looks like until the first product gets revealed sometime next year. It's been three years since Jaguar outlined its electric reinvention, promising a two-door sports car and two SUVs that would contend with Bentley and Rolls-Royce. Since then, the electric coupe is said to have given way to a four-seat GT that we presume has four doors, Autocar saying this one could be considered a reborn XJ, although larger and much more luxurious than the last. Sitting on the new long-wheelbase JEA platform, the outlet predicts each will come with baseline specs of at least least 450 horsepower, all-wheel drive and all-wheel steering, six-figure prices. and super-fast charging times. Designs will be minimalist, heavy on touchscreens and sustainable materials, which are pages pulled from the Range Rover playbook. And we're told the Leaper, Jaguar's leaping cat emblem around since World War II, will be put to bed. Instead, identification will be by Jaguar wordtype outside and in — another Range Rover tic. Even stranger: Autocar says none of the three will fit a rear window. Like the Polestar 3, the Jaguars will use "a digital 'mirror' at the base of the windscreen." If this is true, a mirror on the instrument panel at the bottom of the windshield would be proper old-school Jaguar. The GT is meant to debut first, next year, one SUV per year for the two years afterward.
Jaguar says F-Type sales off to flying start
Fri, 31 May 2013As we noted in our recent first drive, Jaguar's luscious new F-Type roadster is a bit of a tweener in both size and cost, lining up in between rival Porsche's Boxster and 911. That one-for-two-segment strategy is showing early signs of paying off, with Automotive News reporting that half of the car's 2014 production allotment is already sold. We're not talking huge numbers - sports cars in this segment only "have a global annual volume of about 75,000 units and a market share of 0.1 percent," notes Jaguar brand director Adrian Hallmark. Yet the company figures the F-Type will work out to about 15 to 20 percent of its total volume of around 60,000 units.
From where we sit, this is all very encouraging news, but it's way too early to call the F-Type a smash hit. The sports car segment is known for its fickleness and its front-loaded sales curve, so the real measure of success will be how it fares over the next few years after early adopters get their cars. Jaguar will have to work to keep the F-Type fresh with new variants, and we hear it's prepared to do just that. The British luxury marque hasn't confirmed a hardtop coupe variant yet, but patent images and spy shots suggest one is on the way shortly, and it ought to extend the model's appeal greatly. A four-cylinder option and a manual transmission have also been rumored, and presumably Jaguar will eventually launch higher-performance R and R-S variants as it has done with various model lines, including its other sporty two door, the XK grand tourer.
