This 1966 Jaguar XKE is a barn find in rural
Georgia. It is the 294th 2+2 covered headlight car out of more than
2,600 Series 1 cars made. It is a project car, but is in good shape for
its age and ready for restoration. It comes with 4.2-litre engine with
3 carbs, automatic transmission and dealer installed A/C. The odometer
reads 57,993 miles. It was last registered in Puerto Rico in 1984, and
was shipped to Georgia not long after. Since then it has been sitting
(30 years) in a barn with a concrete floor.
This
classic is white with a black interior. At one time in its history, it
had been repainted maroon, then the last owner repainted it in white
lacquer, which has crackled. The paint has been partially stripped, then left in storage while the owner
moved on to other projects. The car is missing
the exhaust system, and it has some rust, mainly in the driver's side
rocker, door bottom and floor (all pictured). There's also a little rust at the bottom
of the hatch and a few other spots. I can see Bondo work in several
places. The turn signal lenses are cracked and one is missing. With
that said, I've seen much worse. The spare tire
well is in great shape, however, and the tire may be the original
Dunlop. The motor turned over 3 months ago. The interior is in very
good shape with some normal wear. There are no cracks or tears in the
door panels, dash or console. The seats are pretty nice. The headliner and
most of the carpet has been removed to check floor condition (all 4 shown). All the
glass is present. The rest of the car appears to be complete, except for the front bumper, which the previous owner is trying to locate. The last picture shows the car as found. Please let me know if you
would like to see more pictures or if you have any other questions. Call
me at 912-257-5333. This car will be sold with
a Bill of Sale ONLY, as Georgia does not title cars this old. I also
have the 1984 Puerto Rico registration. High
bidder to pay $1,000 non-refundable through PayPal upon completion of
auction. Balance to be paid within 7 business days. The car will not
be released until all funds have been cleared. Thanks for looking and Happy Bidding! |

Jaguar Land Rover looks to hire hundreds of laid-off tech workers
Sun, Nov 20 2022LONDON — Laid off tech industry workers in Britain could find a new home at Jaguar Land Rover (JLR), as the 100-year-old luxury carmaker looks to hire hundreds of engineers to help develop electric car technology. The carmaker, which wants to become an "electric-first" business from 2025, on Friday announced a jobs portal for displaced tech workers to fill 800 roles spanning self-driving, electrification, machine learning and data science. The company said it believed workers leaving big tech groups like Amazon were most likely to have the required skills to fill new roles in Britain, Ireland, the United States, India, China and Hungary. The majority of the jobs will be in Britain. The hiring drive comes after thousands of layoffs in recent weeks at U.S. tech firms including Twitter, Meta and Amazon, some of which have offices in London and Dublin, Ireland. "Our digital transformation journey is well underway but being able to recruit highly skilled digital workers is an important next step," Chief Information Officer Anthony Battle said in a statement. JLR last year announced an electrification strategy under which all Jaguar cars would be fully electric by 2024 and an electric option would be offered across its entire portfolio including Land Rover. The company is owned by India's Tata Motors. Related video: This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings. Jaguar F-Type 'Design Study' headed to Goodwood
Mon, 08 Jul 2013With the Goodwood Festival of Speed taking place this weekend, Jaguar has announced it will be there with its new trio of R models as well as a design study version of the hot new F-Type sports car. While we've already seen the XFR-S last year at the LA Auto Show and the XJR and XKR-S GT at the New York Auto Show, the F-Type design study has our attention.
Based on our recent sighting of a fixed-roof F-Type being tested in full camouflage, this could mean that we'll finally get to see a sexy F-Type Coupe in near-production form. Of course, with all of the other R branded models on display, Jaguar could also unveil a sporty new R - or maybe even an RS - F-Type roadster. Whatever is planned, it will not be a static display - Jaguar says the design study car will be in action, making the fabled run up Goodwood Hill with chief engineer Mike Cross at the wheel. Scroll down for more information about what Jaguar has planned for Goodwood.
Junkyard Gem: 2000 Jaguar S-Type
Fri, Jan 7 2022My junkyard studies of Jaguars have focused mostly on the four-wheeled felines of the 1960s through 1980s, but plenty of more recent Jags may be found in U-Pull-type yards around the continent. Today's Junkyard Gem appeared in a Northern California boneyard last summer, and it had stories to tell. Once Ford took over Jaguar in 1990, the idea of a midsize Jaguar saloon to steal sales from the BMW E39 5 Series and Lexus GS seemed like an increasingly good idea, and so a name used on a mid-1960s version of the Jaguar Mark 2 was revived for use on a car built on the same platform as the Lincoln LS. Both the new S-Type and LS appeared during the 1999 model year, and both are fairly easy to find in your local Ewe Pullet today. American S-Type buyers could choose between a 3.0-liter V6 and various flavors of V8 (including a hairy supercharged V8 good for 400 horses in the S-Type R). This car has the V6, which was based on the Duratec out of the Taurus and made 281 horsepower. In theory, American S-Type (and Lincoln LS) buyers could get a five-speed manual transmission on V6-equipped 1999-2003 cars … but I've never seen a three-pedal S-Type/LS, and I've been looking hard. As you'd expect, European S-Type buyers could get both manual transmissions and diesel engines for the duration of the car's 1999-2007 production run. This car has a ZF six-speed slushbox. The interior looks to have been in good condition when the car showed up here, and the original manuals were still in the car. Some of the wood trim got a bit cracked in the California sun during the car's two decades on the road. That sure looks a lot like a Kia Amanti nose, doesn't it? The Amanti appeared a few years later and showed strong S-Type (and E-Class) styling influence. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences.
