2000 - Isuzu Vehicross on 2040-cars
Victoria, Virginia, United States
Here, for your consideration, is my unmolested 2000 Isuzu VehiCROSS, with 38179 original miles, a clean Carfax, and garage kept / lovingly maintained for the entirety of it's life. I purchased the truck from its previous owner of almost 10 years, Euro Motor Cars, in Bethesda, MD. That said, the VehiCROSS is in overall immaculate condition, and it runs, drives, stops, and steers as new. I have added the Curt roof rack, the 4 Hella 4000X lights, as well as the Hella work lamp. The lights have yet to be wired. I have recently replaced the tired OEM shocks with KYB Monomax shocks, but the originals are included with the truck. Below is a comprehensive list of questions posted on the VehiCROSS info forum, along with my answers. Any service history records? I have what I believe to be most of the service receipts from 2004 till current ~How long have you owned it? Since September 2014 ~Electric windows work properly or bind? The drives window is a bit slow, passengers window binds on occasion ~Condition of window rubber track/gaskets...(many have ripped or been cut) All window rubber/gaskets are in excellent condition ~Look behind door panels to see if vapor barrier is present - (may indicate previous work on windows) Doors are untouched ~Window regulator /motor been replaced? Not that I am aware of ~Any oil consumption noted, under ANY conditions? (some seem to consume a little when on prolonged highway driving) No oil consumption whatsoever ~

GM recalling 8.4M cars, 8.2M related to ignition problems
Mon, 30 Jun 2014General Motors today announced a truly massive recall covering some 8.4 million vehicles in North America. Most significantly, 8.2 million examples of the affected vehicles are being called back due to "unintended ignition key rotation," though GM spokesperson Alan Adler tells Autoblog that this issue is not like the infamous Chevy Cobalt ignition switch fiasco.
For the sake of perspective, translated to US population, this total recall figure would equal a car for each resident of New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Montana, Delaware, South Dakota, Alaska, North Dakota, the District of Columbia, Vermont and Wyoming. Combined. Here's how it all breaks down:
7,610,862 vehicles in North America being recalled for unintended ignition key rotation. 6,805,679 are in the United States.
Junkyard Gem: 1997 Acura SLX
Tue, Nov 27 2018When I'm prowling wrecking yards, I'm always on the lookout for obscure examples of badge engineering, and the weirder they are, the better I like them. While I haven't managed to spot a junked Suzuki Equator yet, I have photographed such rarities as the Saab 9-2x and Isuzu Ascender. A few weeks ago, I encountered one of the real oddities of the Honda-Isuzu dealmaking of the 1990s: a 1997 Acura SLX, a luxed-up Isuzu Trooper that sold very poorly and is now mostly forgotten today. Plenty of Acura SUVs designed and built entirely by Honda roll out of American showrooms today, but the 1990s SUV boom caught Honda by surprise. The first MDX wasn't ready until the 2001 model year, so Honda made a deal to take Isuzu Troopers, apply wood and leather inside and Acura badges outside, and cash in on North Americans' increasing disdain for minivans, sedans, and station wagons. Americans were very familiar with the Trooper, which was sold here from the middle 1980s until the 2002 model year, when the Chevrolet Trailblazer-based Ascender went on sale. The Isuzu name stuck around on these shores until 2008. The SLX was a decent enough truck, but there was no disguising its proletariat Trooper roots from status-conscious SUV shoppers who wanted to look more oligarchic while conquering a half-inch of snow in the mall parking lot. It didn't help that the 1997 Trooper L listed at $27,800 and the SLX Premium cost $38,300 (that's about $44,200 and $60,900 in inflation-adjusted 2018 bucks). SLX sales started off weak and plummeted after that. After 1999, the SLX was done. I spent years trying to find one in California and Colorado wrecking yards, but the few that were sold seemed to be sturdy enough to stay alive for a couple of decades. Finally, this high-mile '97 appeared in a Denver yard. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings.
Come see all the cool cars in Geneva that we don't get in America
Mon, Mar 12 2018The Geneva Motor Show is usually the highlight of auto show season. There are always a ton of interesting debuts. This year alone, we saw new models from McLaren, Ferrari, Porsche, Mercedes-AMG and more. That doesn't count the ridiculous and tasteless stuff that comes out of Brabus or Mansory. Personally, one of the biggest reasons I enjoy going is to see all the cool stuff that we won't get in America. Watch the video for a brief walkaround of the show floor. Even the city streets offer unusual sights for Americans. Geneva is so close to France that there are Citroens, Peugeots and Renaults everywhere. Then there are cars like the Volkswagen Polo and Up! or a multitude of wagon variants of cars like the Mercedes-Benz C-Class and Audi A4 and A6. Even the exotics come out in droves. There was a Porsche 911 Reimagined by Singer parked along a side street. There were two Lamborghini Aventadors parked outside our hotel. Just Geneva things.
